Today in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka I go shopping and search for a Sri Lankan cricket shirt. This is easier said than done when you are much taller than the average Sri Lankan!
I will be solo backpacking around Sri Lanka for the next 3 weeks.
I have hired my own, self drive, tuktuk so I will be driving all around Sri Lanka in a rental tuktuk.

Okay but 4500 is a genuine price for a cricket tshrt. Its around 4000 to 4500 normlly. Iif u want for cheaper ones it can go upto 3000 but the material will not be good.

Bartering is common practice in much of Asia. The buyer and the seller both know that the first price is never the real price. And from what I've been told in comments I still over paid by around double, so the seller probably did OK. Not sure what the price of a gopro has got to do with buying a cricket shirt though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Honestly, complaining about a dollar because you think everything should be cheap just because it is Sri Lanka.?.these people are struggling to eat these days and they are trying to earn a bit of money. Being a SriLankan coming from abroad even I would pay that much for a Cricket tshirt without haggling because its not an unaffordable price. Understadably they only have different pricing because they go lower for the locals because they cannot afford the actual price. Sri Lankans are such innocent and kind people who bow their head to any foreigner. We dont get the same treatment in western countries. And if you have travelled I am sure there are countries that charge like £50+ for an item of clothing, not for the quality! And you'd have no chance of bargaining. I think you have to understand these things before you go to countries like Sri Lanka. Sorry for having to say this but I hate to see most foreiegners coming to SriLanka to take advantage of the people's desperation to make a living.
