Great job, Day, it looked really nice. I know the position you were in with having to move quickly and thinking ahead. You got a heck of a crew. I’m guessing you and I got started in the concrete around the same time. So I appreciate what you do. Thank you Sir.

Awesome! Why not seal it soon? I thought part of the purpose of sealer is to slow the drying process.

I’ve got a question about my pool deck coping. Is there an easy way to get in touch with you?

What slump do you pour at on 80-90 degree days?

Hi Mike, I’m hoping you can help me. What’s the best way to neutralize muriatic acid on concrete?
@MikeDayConcrete6 ай бұрын
Mix baking soda with water, the little box with 5 gallons will do. Or ammonia and water 9 parts water to 1 part ammonia. Spray on or brush on, rinse off.

Doesn’t curing in super hot conditions cause long-term issues? Sincerely curious
@markdoumert6 ай бұрын
You have to be more anal about it for sure, using either a really good curing compound or wet curing. Im in Arizona and in the summer youll have mud at 6 and it will be bleached out totally white by 9:30. This is terrible for concrete, once its finished you want to keep as much residual moisture inside of it as possible. Im really looking forward to trying some internal curing chemicals if I can find a batch plant with them in my area. From what I have seen online they are working magic for the guys using them.

Yikes, looks like you guys were sweatin' bullets ! Mike, have you ever messed up a job like this and had to do it over again ? Pat

2% retearder and maybe some DAY 1 and no problem. Try pouring in the South Georgia heat LOL. I know you can handle the cold much better than us but that heat is nothing. Maybe a few less double cheeseburgers for your guys too.
@Polydope6 ай бұрын
Nah, those double cheeseburgers help them get that defined stamp texture in the heat 😂
@darrellboahn38386 ай бұрын
I agree but God I hate retarder. Too unpredictable and inconsistent curing
@BobL846 ай бұрын
way too hot to pour around a pool that is the worst thing you can do and even if you can save it you will bust your ass always plan your pours around hot and sunny days
@markdoumert6 ай бұрын
Theres ways to do it. If we shut down over 100 degrees we would only have about 10 weeks every year we could pour here in Arizona haha. You have to be efficient and really really anal about curing. Design your mixes to make it easier as well, strong enough to take some water and super p so it can be placed wetter. We line pump most jobs as well that cant be chuted, no messing with buggies. Its all about getting it down as fast as possible and having enough guys to hop on it.
