@@labandlegacy Appreciate the review bro...I'm thinking about getting the MPC Live 2 but not sure about how user friendly the work flow is in regards to things like menu diving/touch screen and also not sure about if the built in synths/instruments are enough for trap, pop and some EDM production...Will keep checking for your future videos on the MPC Live 2. Cheers
@labandlegacy
@labandlegacy 4 жыл бұрын
@HAYDENMUSICTV with the pad shortcuts you have instant access to 16 of the menu screens without touching the screens so I BARELY use the touch screen at all bro. As far as the synths, the on board ones are good for basic ideas and you can get some good sounds out of them if you are good with synthesis and sounds design. Personally I would recommend using samples and multi-sampled instruments to create your loops even though MS instruments make the project file sizes much bigger, they sound great and you can delete them from the project after your loops are bounced to audio.

Congrats on ur new toy! I have an MPC LIVE I and love it! I noticed the same build defect on mine when I got it! No further issues from that. I did have an issue connecting to my PC which was solved by replacing the original USB 3 cable. I now use the LIVE software inside my projects in Cubase Pro 10.5. It’s great to start a beat on the MPC stand-alone then run in the lab to finish within Cubase! HMU if you ever need info how to integrate with ur DAW. In the mean time, great content bro..... keep it up!

Nice overview bro. I almost got one. Thanks 🙏 for the tip on guitar center, I placed an order for a ONE at zzounds ill have to cancel that 'cause I have zero patience 🤣. Interesting how everyone's definition of an upgrade is different, i think that's what the ONE will be for me. Also I currently have an MPCSTUFF Billet knob on my LIVE and it's a nice upgrade vs the stock knob that constantly would fall off when I would transport it around.
@labandlegacy
@labandlegacy 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro! Yeah, the billet jawn is a must! I'm gonna need 2 of them, lol! I'm interested in the One upgrade! I actually just finished editing a video where I'm talking about how I think dedicated buttons are overrated due to the pad shortcuts, but I'm curious about your perspective.
@LiftedNoise
@LiftedNoise 4 жыл бұрын
@@labandlegacy well I'm really doing a trade here, I think, ill likely sell the LIVE, the form factor of the ONE is appealing to me. A lot of it is superficial, it's new so that will satisfy my gear lust for a moment, plus I've got the YT excuse going for me. I haven't checked your video out or ever even used the pad shortcuts but I just jumped in and yea you definitely make a good point, this is how most older MPCs worked anyhow, there was a mode button then the pads would be labeled with secondary functions/menus. 🤔 we'll see...
@MatthewStratton
@MatthewStratton 4 жыл бұрын
@@LiftedNoise Hey man. I picked up the One. I have zero regrets. The button layout just rocks compared to the other MPCs (Live, and X) and the screen is in a better place than the MPC Live. Anyway. I'm starting to get the muscle memory going with the buttons on the One and just having everything close together does work well for a fast workflow. Regards.

Great vid! - Quick question: With the new MIDI Track out function, can you send MIDI track out info to the Arpeggiator?
@labandlegacy
@labandlegacy 4 жыл бұрын
From my understanding the arpeggiator modifies the notes before they reach the track, similar to the note repeat, so that midi info is recorded into the grid.

Sup, Sight!! It's not enough of a hardware upgrade for me. I have a Live 1, & I'm not using CV, (more not bothered than can't), & I'm happy enough with it. I'll wait a few more years, maybe sell an MPC (I have 3) prior to next upgrade.....But if you're coming from the Touch (as you are), it's a worthwhile upgrade due to the portability alone. But cool vid, man!!

Great vid man, I echo your thoughts on build quality...my MPC X is S###, it has this red coating that even if you cough on it comes off... I have a MK3 Maschine, and a MC 707 Groove box, trying to learn all the different flows. Well see what product wins in the end.

My Qlink button is wobbly as well, but it appears to be consistent with the Touch. Maybe because it is by itself and it doesn't have other buttons in a rubber sheet joined to it to keep it as stable.

Once they figure out how to allow installation of vst on the live...its over. Also I'd like to see you do a vid where you are out with the MPC and make a beat strictly from sampled sounds around you. I ask this because you actually do sound design. It would be a dope vid!!

Definitely won’t be happening in this lineup cycle. That processor won’t manage it. Even the MPC software only allows for VST2 not 3. Kind of behind and backwards with times. Barely getting to hardware overhaul and features integration. It’s kind of odd and weird for how much play room they have in the community.

They won't do that and trust me you don't want them to key groups is the way yamaha korg all those keyboads uses some kind of key group multi sampling.Kontak ect.The 2 gigs of ram is mainly for what you put in the machine YOU the user. Plugins can crash your Daw sometimes we don't want that it's a drum machine sampler at heart.We don't need anything that can mess up the original functionality.Plugins is not 100 percent can't trust the stability of a plugin.Create your own sounds in the machine and add effects and stuff pretty muchthe same thing trust me.Do some research.

It's a great value, but it's not designed to be moved around. I have a Facebook group with over 6 thousand MPC users, and there's already been multiple issues with One owners having a loose/shorted power port from moving it around too much or attaching batteries. Same with the USB ports. People have accidentally ripped their port out or broke it using external HDs. Having everything housed in one unit is a major feature for mobile musicians.

@@labandlegacy Bet, i feel ya, cause I still feel handicapped when I switch from the "Ren" to the "one" and work in standalone. The transport controls really speed up my workflow!

Now that's interesting, the transport controls. That's a luxury I've never had, lol. Do you use them mostly for editing, or are you making longer sequences?

Nice summing up review. But dude, you're comparing the speakers to studio monitors? Bro, they are just convenience speakers. Personally I would of been fine without them, but if they are there use them.

You got it!!! Dope!!! Ok... it sounds better than I thought. And it looks fantastic! I got $1400.00 available on my sweetwater account, but I'm gonna sell my Mpc Touch and buy a Mpc Live original. I plan on using sweetwater to upgrade my virtual instruments. The Live II looks amazing tho bro! I'm taking your advice on the speakers. If they add color to the low end, I'll stick to my monitors and Headphones. Dope Video! Thanx for the review.

Glad you liked it bro! Hey if you can get a good deal on the OG Live, go for it! I am definitely sticking to the studio for mixing and crucial tasks, but I can't front I really like the speaker for composing around the house. It really feels like a big boy toy, lol. Haven't had this much fun in a while. Being mobile with an MPC is a lot of fun man. I love it!

When you said it was a downgrade because of VST’s in par with the DAW system for your style of producing. I straight shook my head with you too. But then again I did against you, when it’s not even a hardware feature to begin with on the MPC Touch and in contrast overall the Live II is an actual upgrade from that far out tech of the past. Confusing statement. Had you stated about it’s screen mirroring feature on the Touch to the Live II then we would be talking some actual downgrade aspects. Might just be me though 🤷🏽‍♂️
@labandlegacy

I meant it's a downgrade in my workflow in many ways going to standalone not in the actual hardware, but I can definitely understand the confusion.

Am I the only person bothered by the boxing? I feel like the boxing could've been way better. I recently bought the Maschine MK3 and I loved how protected it was in its box. But anyway that MPC LIVE 2 is beautiful asf 😭

Yeah, it's a tad skimpy in the protection, but mine seems to be rock solid other than that right side area. Time will tell!

@@labandlegacy Day 2... Trying to get this to work in FL Studio... I think it would be easier to fit my head in a blender. I can't find one video of the process start to finish. Now I have things so messed up that transport controls don't work (not even space bar) and now it doesn't recognize any of my other midi controllers... hours, and hours, and hours, of watching videos and reading FAQ and coming up empty handed. It's also not very helpful that the instructions for connecting the devices to FL hasn't seemingly been updated since 1996.
