I think Grant Hallway and Rai Benjamin has the best 2024 Season in my opinion. Here’s why: *Redemption* Both Grant and Rai choked last Olympics (Tokyo 2021) (they were the big Favourites to win an Olympic Gold in their events, but they lost). 3 years later (Paris 2024), Both Grant and Rai were still the big Favourites to win an Olympic Gold Medal in their events and they finally won. Upgrading their Olympic Silver Medals to Olympic Gold Medals. That’s a Perfect Redemption Stories for them imo. 🥇🥇🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🔥😎

I think it comes down to a bit of preference. Yes Noah has the 2 individual medals, but then he doesn't have the world leads in either event. Additionally, Tebogo has top performances in all 3 sprint events (100m no.8, 200m World Lead, 400m no.15) and he has the 300m WR and he has the 4x4 silver and 2nd fastest split ever. I definitely cant hate if you have Noah over Tebogo, but I do acknowledge there is some preference that comes into play so appreciate your opinion! Thanks for watching! 💯

Mondo just does one event and has no competitors to really push him. By that standard he'll win your mvp for the foreseeable future. I have more respect for athletes who can do more than just one obscure event that's mostly technical. People aren't tuning in to track meets to see the pole vault as opposed to track events which are king. I'd have to go with Letsile for his range and running a 19.46 in emphatic fashion or the 800 meter Olympian from Kenya for his consistency.

I really like your list a lot, I definitely think it's fair and it's very consistent to who I would personally I would place in the top 10. The only thing I would disagree with is the placement between Noah & Letsile but by a hair, small details. One of the reasons why I would had Noah ahead of Letsile is his race placement over the season. In terms of race placements, Noah has placed higher in races than Letsile. The lowest Noah has placed in an individual race this year was third with his bronze medal in the 200m. He won the majority of his races this year and has only placed 2nd at the World Indoors Finals in the 4x4 & 60m & 2nd in the Jamaican Racers Grand Prix (if you exclude qualification rounds). Whereas Tebogo, although has won the majority of his races, has placed 2nd & 3rd more often than Lyles at open meets and Diamond meets. Plus, he placed 6th in the Olympic 100m Final. Had Tebogo medalled in the 100m and had a greater consistency in his race placements, 1000% I would definitely solidify him over Noah. But by the tiniest of margins, I give it to Noah especially since his back was against the wall in all ways leading up to his Olympic 100m victory to his Covid condition preventing him from running full out in the 200m. Plus, winning the 100m & 200m at the US Trials is a tough task to do give the nature of those events and massive talents across the US. Also, Noah Lyles & Julien Alfred are the only sprinters to walk away with 2 individual medals at the Olympic Games which I personally value more in terms of achievements. Not to say that Tebogo winning Gold in the 2 & winning Silver in the 4x4 is bad but I do view and value 2 individual medals (in some circumstances) outweighing 1 individual medal and a relay medal. Love your videos and I hope you're able to create similar videos like this in the future for new seasons.
@TheFinalLeg
@TheFinalLeg 9 күн бұрын
That a very fair assessment and not too much I can argue with. As you noted, Noah got the 2 individual medals in Paris while Tebogo got 6th in the 100m. But I think this is potentially where my personal opinion and thought process came into play, where I did weigh Tebogo's 200m world lead, 300m world record, 400m top 15 mark, and 4x4 split as a combination of factors to put him over the edge. Though Lyles had the 2 individual medals, I slightly knocked him for not having any world leads. but In general like you said, its small details and I like your break down. Appreciate you watching bro!💯

Bednarek in 7th would have medaled at every Olympic games except 2012 and 2004. 2012 had the fastest podium with all 3 guys running 9.7 or better, but in terms of overall depth, 2024 was better. Rai Benjamin at #5 is insane to me; he's a comfy #2 with Holloway *just* behind fwiw. He's the only athlete this year that ran 4 1300+ marks on the track (Mondo did the same but in the PV), and the fact that he combined those performances with 2 golds in Paris is insane. He basically won the Olympics twice given he beat Dos Santos and Warholm in Monaco too. Compared to Tebogo who won gold in the 2 and did run a great PB to do so, but he lost 6 separate finals outside of that and fumbled pretty hard in the 100 in Paris.
@TheFinalLeg
@TheFinalLeg 9 күн бұрын
Interesting! I can respect that thought process. I should have noted that Rai's 4 marks were significantly up the all time list. I didn't take into consideration the points tables (which to be fair I seldom reference unless its to look at combination sprinters). I think this speaks to how its tough to objectively weight all these factors for different athletes who compete in different events. Tebogo had losses, but competed very frequently and had the world lead, world record, fast split etc. Rai competed infrequently, but had fast times etc. But thats why I note its just my opinion and everyone will have different takes. Appreciate you watching!💯

You having Tebogo over Lyles is kinda crazy to me. The fact that Noah won the Olympics 100m and can claim "Fastest Man in the World" is the ultimate resumé booster & tiebreaker (especially since Tebogo was a non factor in the race). And a 4x4 relay split is nice and all, but Tebogo still didn't get the job done in that race. As for Mondo, not only is he the top male track & field athlete this year, he's deserving of Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year.
@TheFinalLeg

I think its definitely a bit of splitting hairs, but because Noah didnt have the world lead in any event and Tebogo had a top 15 ranking in all 3 sprints (100 no.8, 200 world lead, 400 no 15) I gave him the edge. Bruh Tebogo already did his best in that race, and that was the second fastest split of all time. Plus he had already run 7 rounds before the 43.04 (3 in the 100, 3 in the 200, and 1 in the 4x4). That is no easy task since the 400 is very different from the 100. Tebogo competed in 4 different events and was among the best in all of them. I would choose Tebogo for no.1 given his range from 100 to 400 in 2024

@@aodoemela I think though medals are a huge factor, I also take into account the entire season. Karsten lost most of his 400mH competitions (1/4) and was only 3rd best time wise this year. Kishane only ran 2 times outside of major champs -- once was a DNF, one was a win in Hungary. So not enough depth, he also doesn't have any relay medals to support it (i.e. Rai Benjamin has a short season but relay medals and won all his races) The Olympics is the pinnacle, but I'm judging the entirety of the season, not just the big meets. I predicted Letsile would win the Olympic 200m from May and he did, he broke the 300m WR, he ran 44.3m in 400m and 43 low split, he ran through the circuit in the 200m, BUT he made a mistake at the end that I hope he learns from and that's he didn't finish the season strong by not winning the diamond league. He ran at a low levwl meet 2 or 3 days before the diamond league finals that he should not have ran and consequently lost the diamond league afterwards. That mistake was costly. Because that mistake and the result of not winning his diamond league finals puts him at no. 2 behind Mondo. It's a toss up for me between Noah, Galloway and Rai, and honorable mention to Kenny.

Noah had the better 100m season. Tebogo also had better relay performances than Noah, they both won world relays but Tebogo put up better splits on the all time list than Noah did in the 4x1 or indoor 4x4. Tebogo's early season was better than Noah's indoor season with the triple world lead and world record. If Noah managed to beat Coleman the situation may be different however he didn't. If you said the most competitive event then I'd say maybe you had a case to put more weight on winning the 100m but popularity I don't think is a good reason. Especially if you're a track enthusiast.

No, Noah had a way better season especially considering in the two sprints Noah got medals in both and tebogo medaled in one

@aodoemela okay most competitive. Everyone in the final ran sub 10. I used the 100m example to differentiate between Tebogo & Noah who both competed in it. I wouldn't use that argument against Mondo them but I hear you.

This is the final leg of your channel, the fact that you gave Mondo #1 on your list of 2024 track seasons for breaking records in an UNDER-developed event that lacks diversity in competitors. Your credibility is gone.

@@RunnerBoi I have achieved a level of clarity that far exceeds that which you can currently comprehend due to you hanging on to the Final Leg of this channel. Some events don't have the most athletic people competing because there is low visibility or notoriety in competing in it like pole vaulting

@@Spectonimous This is the first time I've ever commented (and really watched) on a video of his lmfao You just don't understand how stats/sample sizes work and that's okay. I could take your analogy and apply it to a hundred different sports/groups of athletes and you'd quickly realize how braindead your take is. Or you wouldn't because you're so knee-deep in your own comically deranged belief system that any opposing views just melt your brain entirely. ggs
