Was Ozpin Right To Keep Secrets?

I think I have to side with Ozpin on this one. I don't see someone who's at fault. I see someone who is protecting humanity.

The ONLY way I might return to watching RWBY would be that Ozpin delivers the ultimate smack-talk to the protagonists especially Yang on how hypocritical they are. I mean this guy has still persisted on helping people (remnant would've been a wasteland if it wasn't for him) despite all he's been through. If anyone against him noticed, he had been making an effort to be honest since appearing as Oscar. I counted only two lies concerning the artifact. Ozpin does not owe anyone a dam thing yet he takes responsibility for everything, that deserves him a spot as one of my most favorite fictional characters out there.

When you think about it most of the main characters (Team RWBY) aren't really there to help people. Ruby is the only one who is there to help people in her heart. The other three are just there because Ruby is there I think. I doubt they would chase after Jaune Ren or Nora like they did Ruby.

Technically, it was kinda his fault they had to lie to Ironwood about the secrets they learned. He didn't tell them that the Relic attracts Grimm. He made them unwittingly endangered innocent lives just to get to their destination. Which goes against everything they stand for. THAT was a secret he should not have kept from them. The reason he kept everything else a secret was because he was afraid they wouldn't handle the truth that they're basically fighting an unkillable enemy with plan whatsoever in what is essentially a "no win" scenario. If anything it's all just to prolong the inevitable. That's why they had no choice but to keep Ironwood in the dark about it until the time was right. If they told him sooner, he'd lose hope like they almost did when they learned it. Plus, they didn't knew where Ironwood stood as both Lionheart's treachery and Ozpin's dark secrets had shaken their trust in the academy headmasters. Ruby didn't want to lead her friends into another trap. And furthermore, once Ironwood earned their trust, they had to help him with all of the problems in the kingdom to alleviate his stress so that way they can tell him the without him flipping out. Yes, going behind his back and telling Robyn about the project was risky and wrong. But if they didn't, Robyn would've never joined their and they wouldn't have proven Penny's innocence. Besides, the mission is about united the world against Salem not dividing it. The heroes want everyone to work together to stop her. That includes Robyn and Ironwood, whether the two like it or not.

@@blesseddins1409 yeah and I still think everyone of them is wrong....ozpin/ozma had very good reasons to keep secrets....and who are they to judge....as soon as they got the info they withheld the truth as well plus i think everyone of them is wrong about salem being immortal......in fact i dont really believe in immortality to begin with i mean salem herself said that even the literal gods that created them were fathomable/ had their own weaknesses and why is she just now looking for the relic's.....in the flashback she had no desire for them.....i feel like ozpin/ozma salem is losing her magic.....why else would she want the relics to summon the gods just to kill everyone..... true she can control grimm but i believe that may be all she is capable of anymore. i feel like ozma her magic will run out and even if she is "UNKILLABLE" then her magic will keep draining until she's nothing more than an annoyance equivalent to a cockroach. that and i feel like the older brother/god of light left behind the silver eyes so that humanity could deal with salem why else would she make it an effort to get rid of them.......and even though she killed summer rose( as finally proven due to volume 7) i feel like she is just faking the whole " they're nothing to me" act.....reason being ......she's a liar......thats how she gets things done.....she lies just to get what she wants

Even if Ozpin was just going to tell the truth with no twists or omissions, I still don't think things would go well. If he told the truth right off the bat, the other person would think he was crazy. If he waited to tell them everything, then they might think that Ozpin's just been manipulating them. It's one of those "stuck between a rock and a hard place" situations. How do you reveal such a truth to massive numbers of people, and get them to believe you? People very often believe lies, and disbelieve truths. In all the years he's lived, nobody would know what humans are like better than Professor Ozpin.

Not mention the worse case scenario that if they did believe him, they'll think that they're all doomed and have fighting just to prolong the inevitable. Especially when their enemy is immortal and Ozpin has no plan on how to stop her. Or they'll just turn on him and join her side in the hopes they'll be spared. It's a "No Win" scenario. However, what he should NOT have kept a secret was the Relics being Grimm magnets. He made Ruby and co unwittingly jeopardize innocent train passengers just to get to their destination. That goes against everything they stand for.

I thought that he asked "How can I stop/destroy Salem?" Noticed how he said I and not "is there SOMEONE(S) that can stop/destroy Salem?" When you make wishes/ask questions from a genie you have to be specific. And am I the only one that heard this?

THANK YOU!!!!!! finally someone else flat out said it just cause ozpin/oscar/ozma cant kill/destroy/defeat salem it doesent mean that there doesnt exist someone else who can i feel like the only reason that the other members of the show cant seem to comprehend this is because that they used to hold ozpin on such a high pedestal that they grew too reliant on him just like the 1st generation of humanity with their "gods"

he didn't accept because he was a good guy wanting to save humanity. he turn the GoL's off down until he learned Salem was still alive. He only accepted the mission to be with Salem

@@AdeptKing He was supposed to unite humanity not fight salem in an endless war with no end in sight. The gods said he they would come back if he managed to unite all of humanity. Not fight salem. So he basically been sending kids to their death KNOWING that salem wasnt able to be stopped by normal means. If he had stuck to his one job he would have had the gods return who may be the only ones qualified enough to stop a demigod like her.

The back story was a well made Fairy Tail but to work in the Story that they had up to now...... It was trash writing!!! For one the wishes....the math does not add up? Re-watch episode 2 and 3 season 6 an hear the numbers. He use all 3 questions when he talk to the group now jump to end of Fairy Tail, he ask 3 questions... Ok ok no lie here....????????? Wait but how did they get a question wish? Jump to around the ending of episode 2 that the Genie can still Grant 2 wish questions? WHO? WHY? 3 - 3 DO NOT MAKE 2? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? MY HEAD HURTS FROM THIS LV OF STUPIDITY AN THAT NO ONE STOP IT FROM HAPPENING.

The time he asks all 3 questions he was most probably in a separate life and the three wishes regenerate every 100 years I believe. They had 2 wishes when Ruby asked Jinn what Ozpin is hiding. What is the problem?

@@python1972 your reply has no ground to it... And if i did why only 2 wish questions? It 3 after a wait for a hundred years. What was the one wish question used for? how use it? And when? The only time line we get is when the school came to be... An that 80 year's ago.... That all....even the writer for RWBY said that they didn't won't to list the time an place in this story... Not there exact words but close to it. Your reply in all fanfiction..with no backing of the writers or the story. As my has both. What u route is interesting an i like the idea, but it not part of the story.

3L3M3NT4LP4ND4 it would have to be Lionhart or Raven that wished three wishes on the Genie after Ozpin asked all three questions to wish for on the genie.
