Is like attending your own funeral: you see how people reacts, and later decide if you tell everyone that you're not actually dead or just walk away silently.

They said they were done TOURING. I always figured they'd end up doing a show or two here or there after a few years off. A Las Vegas residency, a big Halloween bash at Madison Square Garden etc. Tom was just burnt by 40 years of doing the same thing, how many people keep the same job for FORTY YEARS? I missed the final shows so maybe I'll get to see them one last time if they come to the west coast for a summer festival or something. Everybody should stop crying, you spent your money, you had a great time, made great memories, does that change because the band still wants to play?

Well, now they can’t brag about being at the last show.

@@bobcobb3654 This is true and I think that's what the big issue is with people feeling "duped"
@TakeMeOnTour6 ай бұрын
I think there are way more people happy about it than upset about it so, of course, it's probably a good thing and everyone who is complaining about it just creates more stirrup and press for them. It all works out in their favor.

Tom's wife has released a statement that she has been harassing Tom for the last year to get the band going again, because Tom was done. And Dave recently said Tom had enough back in 2010 after his surgery. And honestly, I'm sure when bands want to retire the sentiment is 100% real, but after a few years boredom sets in. It's easy to judge until you're in that situation. When I was younger I always said when I retire at 65 I'm never working another day, but now that I'm 53 I plan on only semi-retiring just so I don't go insane with boredom.

I hadn't seen anything about that statement from Tom's wife. That's interesting. I agree that I think it comes from boredom and them missing doing the only thing they've ever really known. This has been their entire life.

It’s a couple dates, not a full tour. Not surprised, Kerry wants to still do Slayer stuff.
@TakeMeOnTour6 ай бұрын
Yeah, he's been pretty clear that he thinks they ended too soon. I can't remember the actual wording on if they said they were just done touring or playing altogether but I guess most people would say it was misleading so they spent the money to witness what they thought were their last shows.

As a Slayer fan I found that comedy skit hilarious!

Hah, the full version is even funnier. He talks about Megadeth and Anthrax as well. Figured it would be a good clip for the subject matter.

I honestly thought if there was any band that would buck the trend of coming back after a farewell tour it would be Slayer. Money talks at the end of the day, they're professional musicians. I don't begrudge them, but I think it would have been a classier move to retire with dignity and let Kerry King have his solo project in the spotlight.
@TakeMeOnTour6 ай бұрын
For sure and not to mention the weird timing of it all with Kerry just announcing all of his solo stuff. I really did think they had the perfect exit and like you said, they did it with dignity before things went to shit and had a great farewell tour with many great lineups. Didn't think they'd be the ones to "come back" either.

Really warm words towards Tom from Kerry 😂😂😂.

Yeah, so nonchalant about it. 🤣

Last tour is not the same as we're never playing together again. If they announced a world tour then I'd be pissed but as it is they're playing a few shows which is great, I wish it was near me. If you're near the shows then don't go if you're not happy with the situation, that will show them! People need to chill the fuck out, there some real shit going n the world for this to be such an issue is beyond me.
@bgordo736 ай бұрын
could care less either way, they said they would possibly do shows from time to time but no more tours, and this is exactly that a couple of shows, it is NOT a tour. Any fan that thinks THESE farewell tour bands are doing it "FOR THE FANS" is out of their ever loving mind. They are ALL doing it for the money!!!! Someone offered them a shit ton of cash to do these shows or it wouldn't be happening.
@TakeMeOnTour6 ай бұрын
Money talks for sure and I'm pretty sure that is what got them moving sooner and faster than they planned to. They just announced that they'll be on Aftershock Festival as well.

All music tours are marketing tactics. They’re doing it because they like your money, not because they like you.
