Wrestling is both things. Sometimes wrestling is the trend setter, based off an upcoming reality, and then reality mimics the zeitgeist initiated in the ring.

If you are a massive wrestling fan and into the history and dirt sheets it's a good summary but most of the stories have been told countless times. If you aren't a fan I'm sure Vince comes off as a tiger king type figure to the average fan but to us wrestling fans we are just like yeah we know he's kinda a pos but probably the greatest promoter ever.

The fact that it had Phil Mushnick in it, delegitimized it almost immediately. It included people with known vendettas against the McMahons and the company. Mushnick wasn't the only one they included like that either.

He always understood the class struggle. In the '80s, he gave The Million Dollar Man his idea for what he wanted his gimmick to be had he made it as a wrestler. And it was an asshole rich guy. It's no coincidence that Vince and the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, are often cited as the two greatest heels in wrestling history.

I would say that at a certain point wrestling stopped being a reflection of society. For example they didn’t do anything controversial during the woke era or antifa or far right groups. However in the 90s they did reflect the Jerry springer era and 80s they did reflect the Stallone manly man era.
@cmporkchop457517 күн бұрын
Agree!!! You never seen a documentary or a report about Vince McMahon in which Vince participated in and loyal wrestlers that would die on a sword for him agree to be honest about him. Vince is probably the greatest promoter of all times, but unfortunately he has a lot of flaws

It was definitely good as far as taking you behind the scenes of the golden years. Grew up in the attitude era so after 14 I stopped watching, but I was never fully intune of those golden years. I caught the tail end of the early 90s but I was too young to understand. Wasn’t half as controversial as I thought it would be in outing Vince. In turn it kinda made me respect him and understand him a bit more after learning more about his childhood traumas. That dude is not soft whatsoever
