Remember that Stormbringer's handle was made by Groot's arm. It's still alive, as you see when Thor puts it in the ground, and it grew roots. So it does have a personality.

At 23:11 when Jane asks “what’s it been like 3-4 years”, and then Thor corrects,“ 8 years, 7 months and 6 days”. That was a subtle hint at the fact Jane was blipped for five years, unlike Thor who has a more accurate perception of time right now.

I think people were hard on this movie because it leaned a lot into the goofier parts from Ragnarok and people were really hyped for Christian Bale to portray Gorr the God-Butcher but his role seems to have been cut back a lot and people were let down by that. Also, a story about Gorr probably should have had a darker and more serious tone.
@christianmichael3120
@christianmichael3120 Ай бұрын
I've heard that *a lot* of the darker elements were in fact cut, most of that being Gorr, ya know, butchering. They cut scenes of him killing Peter Dinklage's character and Jeff Goldbum's grandmaster. I think it has to do with the backlash for Multiverse of Madness being "too dark" so they cut all the balance out of this.

Kate Bishop is a legacy character. A legacy character is someone who inherits the role or identity of an earlier character. This usually occurs when the original character steps down, passes away, or cannot perform their heroic tasks. Legacy characters allow the story of a cherished character to go on while adding fresh ideas and viewpoints. They help link the past to the present and demonstrate how a hero's influence can endure in future generations.

Thanks to Tony and Brooke! 💞🌩 My favorite was also RAGNAROK. I liked this one very much. I'm fond of mixing comedy with profundity, in this case, the death of a beloved character... and another embracing parenthood. No, I don't see it as a romantic comedy at all. It's got romance, it's got comedy... but it's mostly action, adventure, fantasy. Rom-coms tend to be formulaic and end with the couple together and happy. I agree that Marvel has been all over the place. Some will see that as a drawback, I see it as a strength. But, then again, superhero movies aren't exactly my favorite genre.

I really liked when he empowered the kids, cuz of the Thor lore. He cast a dark magic spell just like Odin did when he first put that "whosoever holds this hammer" spell on Mjolnir. They paralleled the incantation and even the framing of the shot. Between that and when he taught Axl how to use the seer powers that his father once used on him, it reinforces one of Thor's themes which has actually been very consistent throughout his parts in the MCU, which is to learn and grow from your darkest experiences and turn them into power. Experiences he gained by running toward his problems, not away from them. I like it because these details show that no matter how much Waititi was determined to inject this with his own goofy style, and how jarring that is compared to the tone of most other marvel movies, you can tell that he was still serious about making a Thor movie. And I get that people don't like it because it's cheesy, that's totally fair, like the closeup of the little girl shooting lightning lasers our of her teddy bear, it's clearly an indulgence. But I mean, so's a lot of shit in the marvel movies. But as a story which is about heroism and the character of heroes, which is what hero movies should really be about, I think it's very successful.
@SunlessNick
@SunlessNick Ай бұрын
I will die on the hill of empowering the kids being one of Thor's most awesome moments. I also have a headcanon that while the weapons only grant power for a limited time, the enchantment remains. In years to come, that little girl will become a young woman, who will donate the toy to a shelter or charity shop in the hopes of it giving another kid the comfort it gave her. And with the agency the weapons in this film seem to have, the toy will find its way into the hands of other endangered children - children who will (for a limited time only) possess the power of Thor.

A big part of where the trouble with this movie comes in is that... it just has a lot of tonal whiplash, and the comedy for a lot of people (me included) pushed just... too hard into what emotion there was within the story. It is a movie that is trying... so hard to be two things at once, and failing to really stick the landing on either of them. Taika Waititi just... was let a little too far off the chain, and the movie just kind of suffered for it. On top of that, there was a lot of behind-the-scenes chaos, and the end product wound up being very rushed on a technical level. The VFX artists were left with very little material to work with and nowhere near enough time to actually do the work correctly. Then Taika goes and cracks a joke about "how hard good VFX are," and... it just kind of wound up being an insult to the people he'd shafted. The other unfortunate thing about it is that he made the filming process so frustrating for Chris Hemsworth that Chris has openly said that 1) he will never work with another "mad genius director again, and 2) he'll only return to the character of Thor to close out his story. Yeah, it is dumb fun... but... it's just a little too dumb for my taste. Oh, and when it comes to the directionlessness, that has been the biggest complaint about the MCU across the board since Endgame. Like, they HAD something that they were working toward, but real life really wrecked what plans they had with everything that happened with Jonathan Majors. Even then, though... they missed the mark on the whole Multiverse thing, and... here within the last year, they've had to have a big "come to Jesus" moment when it comes to their overall direction. They're working on getting things back on track now. So... just kind of understand that... for a little while here, you're working through their awkward teenage years until they start getting things back on track. Still, most of the movies left to go are actually pretty good, in my opinion. There's just one in the pipeline that was a big miss for me, going forward, but I don't want to color your opinion on it.

I had no problems with the VFX in this movie but agree with you 100% about the tone of the movie...and it had too much Taika on it. The whole movie felt like a gag, and that didn't mesh well (for me) with Bale's Gor, whose performance was wasted in this movie.

People hate it for several reasons. Namely Gorr was supposed to be an unrelenting force of nature, Eternity was a wishing well for reasons nobody knows, and in the comics Gorr attacked Omnipotence City and slaughtered tons of Gods in an epic battle.

@@thedarkhorse1990 Well Eternity is basically unstoppable, immortal and all powerful. It would take A LOT to make him a viable lasting character that could intermingle movies like Spiderman or Ironman. It would also make every fight effortless and much less fun to watch. As for Gorr, didn't he beat Thor multiple times? Even when he was at full strength? If they were to make him as capable in the comics he would have to be a main baddie like Thanos and it would take several movies to set that up in my opinion.

@@edmunddantes7097 you could’ve stopped at “to each their own” because that’s 100%. No one is telling you that you are wrong for liking this movie. But you even stated you hated it until you learned it was told through the eyes of Korg, then you decided you didn’t hate it? So Hemsworth maybe doesn’t decide how you feel about any movie but I guess Korg does. Bottom line is this movie was a disaster at the box office, to the critics and a majority of the audience, and is therefore is ranked near the very bottom of the MCU movies as a result of it. It tried to double down on everything that made Ragnarok so refreshing and great, except it missed the mark completely. Telling the story through Korg only adds context. I’m sure if they did it all over again, they would make a few changes, not to the story itself, but I would be willing to bet they would make sure to get “in front of” the Korg story telling and make sure to remind people through the movie. Maybe Korg around a campfire or a setting where he was telling the story so people wouldn’t forget. Maybe less of the screaming goats and the movie does marginally better. Lost in this movie is the great talents of Christian Bale, the tragic story of Jane. Hell we saw the God Butcher kill only 1 god.

@@Get_Reel_Reactions I worded it wrong. I didn't "learn" through research or anything. I just paid more attention on a second viewing. When I realized that the entire movie wasn't currently happening like in most Marvel movies, but instead a fanboy telling events that have already happened in the past I found it funny. I think it's interesting how there's a group of fans who hate how a lot of Marvel movies just follow a formula. Then the other half is upset when the movies DON'T follow the formula. And just like with Hemsworth, I don't judge a movie based on its box office numbers. Fight Club bombed at the box office. The Iron Giant, Shawshank Redemption and Office Space were all flops. I think even Galaxy Quest was a box office flop. And on the other end there have been movies that did great at the box office, but were actually duds.
@edmunddantes7097
@edmunddantes7097 Ай бұрын
@@Get_Reel_Reactions Another thing I find interesting is the "hand-holding" complaints people make. In this instance you're irritated they didn't straight up remind you that this movie is all Korg telling the story. How do you picture them doing that? I think they did a good job with it. He literally starts the movie by saying he's gonna tell us a story. He narrates during the movie in scenes he isn't in, and the movie ends with him basically reiterating that he's telling us a story. They did all they could without just putting in print at the top of the movie that this is all Korg's perspective.

it IS a weird movie but I think it's hilarious. We also have to remember that Korg is the narrator of Thor's adventure, it's all from his perspective and he can be a little...out there. In Norse mythology Thor is riding a cart pulled by two goats so that's a fun detail. Another fun fact, the director asked the kids what kind of monsters scared them the most. They drew pictures and they used those for the shadow monsters Gorr conjured.

The movie did have some fun moments, but it was a bit too silly. I think Ragnarok had a perfect blend of humor and story, but this movie was more interested in the joke. The bad thing about that movie is producers had really nice components to make really great movie but we got some mediocre cheesy comedy.. There is a great villain with even greater Bale (the pure gem of the movie imo), good cast in whole, nice story (not storywriting) with serious dramatic plot in it (Gorr's origin, jane's cancer, thor & jane's lost love etc). But god damn they missed all the opportunities and advantages of it.. Gorr is a GOD Butcher! He could be really frightening villain. They didn't show him from that side at all. No scenes with him crushing gods on its way. Only shadow creatures etc. They are pretty nice imo but common.. Too much comedy for a reason and not for a reason. -50% comedy & +30% drama would work really nice. That film for me is like movie of completely lost potential. Nice reaction overall, Octobers!👋

To be honest, in the comics, after a major story like Endgame, it always takes the Marvel Universe a while to "reset". They do seem to be having trouble getting back on their feet. You are right, they do need a direction. I would like to see them concentrate on quality over quantity though. They seem to be producing content so fast that the quality of it seems "uneven". Some people think that Kevin Feigie is getting close to "executive burnout", I hope he finds a replacement soon, that man has earned a vacation. That said, I did like Love and Thunder, but the pacing was uneven and it kept taking me out of the movie.

I’m just saying, when Thor: Ragnarok had humor in it, they knew how to balance it well for audiences. This one just wants to be funny, and call it a day. Personally, I don’t completely hate the movie, but the only thing I extremely hated were the screaming goats which were super annoying.

But Korg is the one telling the story, so it's much more fanboy silly and exaggerated. Ragnarok was happening "real-time". We were following the events as they unfolded. In L&T we are being TOLD a story about events that have already happened. Yes, the goats were annoying. I'm wondering if this was written when the screaming goats IRL were viral on YT.

Eternity, Death, Entropy, and Infinity are the main ones but there's plenty more. They exist so long as the universe exists. Eternity represents everything within creation. The cosmic entities can do basically anything and usually stay out of mortal affairs. The story in itself seemed fine to me. Gor doing his thing and thus giving Thor a quest but as a backdrop to what Jane is doing. And I know there was audience backlash when Jane was ditched. I'm sure that played into how this film came up. But anyway it has momentum. The problem is they kept interrupting the story momentum too basically "Hey wouldn't look cool if this happened?". And a few times centering around Guns N Roses for reasons. But it's like an arm that grabs you from watching the story and pulls you off to the side for a moment and then says "Oh, hey. You were watching a story, right?" Else the kid story. We have kids but then The Kid, he is a Guns N Roses fan for reasons. Until the end then? Poof. Just some random kid that wasn't with us in the end instead with no character development and an ending that was supposed to be a message about relationships? Jane had the better character arc overall. In fact if I distill her, Thor as supporting cast and Gor as antagonist we are getting somewhere...except she poofs as well. And then there also even more insertion at random that you can tell is just padding for future projects. The Zeus Sidequest namely. It's fun. A lot of the visuals are impressive. The acting is great of course. But it's real rocky and hard to walk away saying "That was top notch!" because it wasn't. I don't think it was trash either since I had fun mostly until the story lags and then I lagged in turn.

Pros and cons of Thor Love and Thunder Pro: Some of the characters are great, especially Thor and Jane Con: Some of the characters arc are not done very well, like Darcy, Valkyrie, and Korg Pro: The villain is good Con: Gorr the God Butcher supposedly to have a bigger role and a meh character design because the director cut out some of the good scenes and dialogue of Gorr although his performance was good but still I have thoughts about his character design. The Gorr I knew is way cooler than that design, like he has tendrils with a sharp tip, his legs are like a lizard, and an ape, and supposedly to have the symbiote powers that can conjure any weapon. Pros: the lighthearted themes, action sequences, and Christian Bale performance Cons: Screaming goats, humor, and CGI If you want to know who Gorr really looks like, you can search it up or search in KZbin for Russian comic book for Thor God of Thunder Godbomb, and it's a audio comic book. Gorr voice actor is menacing

Personally I didn’t like this one. For me, nothing they did was serious. I didn’t like how they made Thor basically a goofball, and how they made Lady Sif look. You’re right a lot of these projects don’t seem to have a direction, but it is going to be about the multiverse. They are/were setting up for the young avengers but idk if that’s a thing now. Black Panther is next. Another movie where it has mixed reviews

2nd best Thor movie after Ragnarok. By no means bad. Very fun actually. Them just not doing a lot with Gorr was the main problem even tho Christian Bale was excellent. He needed to end more gods.

This movie was so disappointing. As a massive thor fan it really let us all down. Especially since we thought the same director would do gorr some justice. But sadly we were wrong

This tone in this movie was just to over the top. The director went way overboard with the comedy route. They needed to bring back more of that serious tone like form the first Thor film.

In my opinion, they are leading up to something and moving the pieces into place. I understand it’s tough to see with no unifying Avengers film like in the Infinity Saga. But I do see seeds being planted.

Ragnarok was a home run, this was a swing and a miss. I felt like part of the problem is they went out of the way to make Thor look like an idiot to make the females look more bad ass. There were good parts of the movie, just too many bad parts. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is the only movie after End Game that I have cared about at all.

Imo, they took Thor the comedic route because the classical shakespearian Thor was not doing as well as they would have liked.....and never mind, I thought this was Ragnarok 😅

I appreciate the honesty, this was disliked so much from so many people after how good ragnorok was. Marvel, especially Thor have started doing 2 things wrong. Putting current politics into films which automatically alienates half the country and 75 percent of marvel fans. Marvel has been replacing every male lead with a female lead in ways it just doesn’t work. The other issue is the over the top comedy. You have a series scene with Jane in a bed withering away then Thor kicks soda machines in an attempt to make it funny. They needed more god butcher, he only killed one god on screen. The kids is marvels DEI agenda to make sure every check box is done, instead of just making a good movie. After endgame you have no way home, guardians 3, and Deadpool 3 that are good and Deadpool points out all of marvels errors which is great

For me, I didn't like this movie just because the humor was waaaaay over the top and diminishes so much of the story and any seriousness or connection to the story. Almost any serious moment HAD to be undercut with humor for some reason and it was way too much. I think Ragnarok had the perfect balance of humor and seriousness. I had a great time laughing while I watched Ragnarok, but they took it a step too far in this movie and it really took away the fun I had watching it. It had good moments like the goats screaming and some funny lines, but overall just too much. On a smaller note, Gorr the God Butcher was just such an amazing character and would have been great to see way more of him in this movie. That's just a smaller gripe for me, though. Those are the main reasons I didn't appreciate this movie so much. Ragnarok = awesome. Love and Thunder, meh. :P

Christian Bale is such a great actor and i know he had the potential to do more as Gorr but he had to work with the script he was given. I thought it was lame that he's called the God Butcher but we didn't get to see him go on a murderous rampage of God killing. This movie needed a darker tone, some comedy is okay but this was doing too much.

I personally don't HATE the film. The goofy humour was way too out of balance compared to Ragnarok, and that's mainly because Taika absolutely neglected the serious aspects of the characters for huge swathes of the movie, resulting in Gorr being a wasted character (in my opinion, he should have been a villain for at least a second movie). Hopefully they do justice to Zeus, Hercules and the other gods in the future, if we get more of what we saw in this movie, it'll disappoint. Moon Knight at least gives a decent run at some of the Egyptian gods.

Also they didnt make this JUST to kill of Jane, theyre just adapting stories from the comics, Jane really does become THor and has cancer. As for the story going nowhere... thats normal. Just lik in every anime, tv series, or comic, after the Avengers come together and take down the big threat everyone goes back to normal living their lives, takes down a few pretty inconsequential villains until eventually the new crisis or earth shattering threat comes along and its time to fight for survival again, thats whats the MCU is doing right now, dont worry, its already been confirmed and seen... the real threat is definitely coming

I enjoyed this movie. It was fun. It wasn’t the best marvel production. It was however better than Thor2 The Dark World 😂 We do need to find out more about Asgardians eating children a long time ago. Hahaha. Wtf was that?!!!? 😂 “Love” in the movie, is one of the children of Eternity - crazy powers. I hope we find out more about her and other children of eternity. But the way marvel does it, it may take 20 years Lol
