I met Pat's relative this past week and they told me about their basket weaving. Very fascinating culture. I want their culture to survive! I'm from the Navajo Nation myself.

I'm fascinated by basket making and I love your stories about the history and tradition of them. Watching you weave a basket it looks like you are weaving on cotton - but what was used in place of cotton before Asian cotton arrived in North America? (I know pima cotton is native to South America but not likely to have been grown in N. America) I'm basically against the use of cotton in my clothes and surroundings because it is such a toxic crop with a bad history and environmental destruction.
