We traveled to Nashville and visited the Amazing home Tiki bar of our friends Mo and Justin Bird. The Hale Manu means "Bird House". We interview the owners, discover some amazing vintage finds and discuss how they built it.

Sadly, the Omni Hut closed down this year. But we visited it all the time (and now we have a few relics from there in our home bar).

I’ve seen a lot of home tiki bars this one is definitely the best! I’m curious if there are tiki bars around the country that inspired a lot of the set dressing and artistic design you guys have done. I know that when I build a Tiki Bar I’m going to be greatly influenced by the famous Tonga Room, and Trader Sam’s, that’s not Trader Joe’s… That’s not Trader Vics… Trader Sam’s: it’s a funky little tiki dive bar way out on Geary Avenue in San Francisco. I’m a long time fan of Tiki, mid-century modern, and have been collecting exotica albums for several decades. By my early teens I had a complete collection of all of the Martin Denny records. A few years later I started collecting bossa nova and lounge music, I even did a radio show that was lounge music back in the early 90s. People told me that was an old fad and would never make a come back. One of those people is a major fan of Todd Rundgren music. You can imagine his amazement when his musical hero put out an album of his greatest hits done in bossa nova lounge style… It’s called “Todd with a Twist”. Another great video....their place looked amazing....I understand everything y'all do except tiki....I'm a car guy....grew up in the 60's-70's in South Georgia....approx 18 miles north of the Fla state line....but I never saw any tiki stuff.....maybe y'all could do a video on the origins of tiki? Just an idea....thanks again for the great videos!!!!
