Thank you so much. Just saved my bacon. My wife was about to go buy a new wash machine. I asked for a few hours to work on it and look into the error some more. I came across this video and literally watched it as I worked on the machine. A call to Sears Scratch and Dent and $72 for new pump assembly and the wash machine is running like a champ. I took apart the old pump assembly and noticed immediately a busted impeller and surrounding shaft seal was nearly non existent. I am fairly handy but have never worked on wash machine before in my life, and this was a cake walk. You rock and made me look like a superstar!

Steve, you are my hero and my unofficial virtual husband. I watched your video after diagnosing the problem. I ordered the pump from Amazon yesterday morning, it arrived in 7 hours! Thanks to your excellent guidance, I was able to fix my machine and restore it to it's former silent grace in time to do 2 loads of laundry before midnight. I feel empowered and clean!

THANK YOU! I am only a little bit handy, and usually avoid repair tasks that involve both electricity and water. But these clear, concise instructions gave me the confidence to try. And it worked like a charm! It took me less than an hour to replace this part, which cost $26, on my ~15 year old Kenmore washer. Compare that to calling a repairman or buying a new unit...THANKS AGAIN!

I have never fixed anything before, and was really nervous I'd have to call out a technician when my washing machine broke last week. After watching some videos, I suspected it was the drain pump, so I used this video to replace it with a drain pump I ordered from Amazon. I'm pleased to say I got it right on the first try, and my washing machine is working again. Thank you!!!

This video was so helpful. Worked just as Steve the mechanic demonstrated. Our Washer - about 10 years old - had a ton of stuff in the "button " trap and the pump impeller was stopped by a eyeglass cleaning cloth wrapped around the impeller axle. It worked fine after that, but if it "goes" , I now know how to replace it with a new pump. Wish I could show you a photo of the junk, nuts, bolts, paper clips, pins, lots of coins, screws, bamboo skewers... unbelievable. Plus one dryer sheet and the offending microfiber lens cloth.

Very good detail on showing the pump replacement. Took about 20 minutes and the pump is nice and quiet now. I found one on Ebay for $47. On my Maytag 2000 series washer one clamp was the pressure clamp that I could re-use, but one was a pressed on crimp clamp that I replaced with a stainless hose clamp. Very easy fix to save a bunch of money. Thanks

Great how-to vid. If additional info is helpful? * Stackable, you don't need to tilt it back. Just get a extension bit for the 1/4 driver. I use a drill. Save the hose clamps, always useful. Save the gasket on the large item filter. Usually need one of those b4 the pump goes out. Last, if your pump took a trump... Your washer is full of water. Use a funnel to a bucket (gallon size) and drain that way. Once again, great vid! Followed it & was done fast. Just some little adds if anyone's interested 👋

Really appreciate your video and the other one on the water temp sensor. Both items were easily repaired by following your videos; it turns out that the filter had caught quarters, dimes and pennies, plus broken up ball point pen remnants. Thankfully, the impeller was still in decent shape! I could see the temp sensor plug hanging down in back, no doubt that was causing the fault code... but I couldn't see the receptacle. So, off came the back, the plug was easily re-attached and it also gave me the opportunity to check the belt for wear. For a 10 year old washer, it's holding up fine. Thanks again, Steve!

Check the filter before replacing the pump. If you start getting F 02 code and pausing and restarting the cycle finishes the load then it is probably just the filter starting to clog. Just clean the lint and debris out of the plastic filter/strainer body and clean around the gasket to get a good seal.

I just changed the pump on my washer. I had ordered the pump for my whirlpool washer from Sears Parts Direct. No hose clamps came with it so I had to purchase them separately. With the use of this video it was a simple change over. If you have ever replaced a radiator hose you can do this. The only problem I had was to get the black rubber locking piece to lock back into place to hold the pump in its position. After a lot of struggle I noticed the new rubber piece and the old rubber piece are different, as the old one has a groove cut into its edge to accept the lock which protrudes out from inside the hole where it fits down inside the cabinet. I exchanged the two rubber pieces and put the pump back into place with the old rubber piece attached and then was able to lock the pump back into place. A large flat screw diver was used to push in from the side while the pump was pulled to the left. Without this video I would probably have had a much harder time with this. Thanks.

Great video. On my Whirlpool Duet washer the 2nd drain clamp (out to the sewer) is a permanent-type clamp and I'm not sure how to remove it without breaking it? The impeller isn't moving (stuck my finger in there) so there must be something wedged in there as I assume it's supposed to spin freely?

Thank you for this video. I cannot seem to get the rubber piece to get into place. Will it be a problem if I just leave it out?
@partselect2 жыл бұрын
The piece can be a pain but it should be put back in. The manufactures are pretty cost concious on how they build their products so if the put the part in ideally it should stay on the machine, I have at time had to lubricate that rubber piece with a little vaseline which really helped getting the rubber to slip into place. Give that a try good luck you got this. -Chris

I occasionally get a H F error on my front loading whirlpool duet. Cleaned all the hoses and changed input hoses from reduced flow to regular. Before I purchase and install a new drain pump (your video is awesome), could overloading the machine cause this problem? Thanks.
@partselect9 жыл бұрын
Douglas Dufault There are several things that may cause an HF code to appear. The code is generated when the control senses that enough water has entered the washer but the pressure switch has not been tripped. Check the small hose that connects to the pressure switch for any signs of chafing. Make sure that the washer is not siphoning out the water while it is filling due to a short stand pipe height or too tight of a drain hose connection to the standpipe. We have also heard of defective flowmeters and control boards causing this problem but not the drain pump.

Steve, this video assumes the pump is dead. In my case, last year, the repairman came with a new pump. He removed the old pump and I thought I would take it. While he was getting the new pump out, I played with the old one and found something lodged in the impeller, freed it up. That was the problem! He installed the new pump anyway, but I would not have let him do that had I been the one paying for that new (and quite pricey) little pump! On the Maytag 3000 series, the pump motor and impeller are replaceable w/o swapping out the entire pump and filter assembly. I do not know if this is the case for the model you are working on, but at the prices they charge for parts - why replace a filter trap if it isn't broken? Other wise a pretty good video. You might get Parts Select to buy a camera you can mount on your forehead so we can see what you are seeing (in addition to the regular camera showing the larger area - then edit the bits together as appropriate.
@partselect7 жыл бұрын
The manufacturer does not supply a pump motor separately for this range of models.
@notcharles7 жыл бұрын
I noticed that Repair Clinic and similar outlets do NOT list the motor as a separate item - however, Amazon has a motor for my Model 3000 and several other models. So, if the motor is 'dead' it is worth searching the net because the price difference can be as much as $100 . Of course, in my case, the motor wasn't 'bad' but simply blocked. As well, the repairman came with a new motor and had all but installed it when I (having asked for the old part - like Daddy told me to do) discovered the blockage and removed it. On his sheet, the ;list price; for the motor was something like $500! as it was a Warranty Repair, I would not have had to pay for the repair. BUt Had it been on 'my dime' checking that 'bad' motor would have saved my a of of money. So, my advice stands - check the motor for blockage BEFORE ordering a replacement and, if the motor proves to be 'bad,' search thoroughly for a motor-only before replacing the motor/filter trap assembly for more money.

Awesome! We have the Kenmore/Whirlpool product and this was great! Sears/Kenmore offers no information on how or where this catch was located or to even check it first in their trouble shooting guide. Sears has no mention of this feature/device. Your tip on catching the water was very helpful; based on my last experience with an older coin/button catch that had to be completely removed letting the water drain everywhere. Sears was not much help other than giving us the Whirlpool model number, which when searched your video came up. The Sears Model W10117770A/ 11047561603 button catch was clogged with coins, screws and a bunch of lint. Don't need parts, yet, but when we do the order is going to PartSelect.com. Thank You! Ed A.
