Im about to cry. I have this exact washing machine. I didn’t have the money to get a new washer or pay to get it fix. All my kids school clothes were in their and it stopped spinning and draining. Watched this video at first and thought it was hard but had no choice but to try it. AS soon as I finished and plugged it in. It started spinning and draining.. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I don't comment often, but this was a life saver during the national shutdown. I used electrical tape on the back to close the box tight until I can get to a hardware store. The switch then engaged and clicked. AWESOME. Just had to hang on to the switch so that it won't fall behind the bin. Thank you

Our best friend's wife's washing machine quit spinning and draining. I saw this video. She didn't. But she already had determined that it was the switch and had the screws out. I went over this afternoon to see the machine make and model, then started searching KZbin for repair hints. Your video was right on point. It was the switch, and I repaired it just like you show in the video. The only problem I had was getting the screws back into the body of the switch. She was able to do that. The perfect repair! Only took about 30 minutes (most of the time spent trying to get the screws back into the switch body, and didn't cost a thing, except two wire ties. A very happy housewife. I told my friend that the repair cost $200.00, payable immediately, if not sooner. GREAT VIDEO!

It's almost 4 AM here and my washer stopped working a couple hours ago. The reason I am up so late is because I am moving my Mother to a memory care facility later today. It's going to be a difficult day for me and the washer not working would have caused a delay in getting her moved. I was so frustrated that it stopped working and almost gave up when I stumbled across your video. Your advice helped me immensely and allowed the washer to complete its cycle. Thank you. It turns out my 25 year old washing machine has more life after all! More complicated with me though, wasted a good hour. Lid switch literally cracked in two, the spring inside was bent, and that metal piece was entirely corroded. I removed the metal piece. Cleaned up all the corrosion. Used a small pair of electrical plyers to bend the spring back into shape until I eventually heard the right snapping sound. I then wrapped the switch with a ton of electrical tape seeing that the case was literally split in two. Finally, I applied a single zip tie and then screwed it all back in. It worked. Fixing a washer with electrical tape and zip ties! Hahaha!

Wow, this was the fix!! I was afraid I was going to have to replace my trusty Kenmore 90 Series washer, over 20 years old and never a problem until yesterday. I thought I'd might need to order a new timer mechanism ($200), the lid switch ($50), or buy a whole new washer ($500 +plus). Even a technician's trip charge was over $100 just to ring my doorbell. And to think, removing two screws and wrapping two zip ties around the old lid switch is all I needed… Genius! Thanks, mister!!

HOLY MACKEROLI! i did it! I got my super sad old washer to work again thanks to you! I was hoping this could be an easy fix, especially since all my new roommates work clothes were sitting in water and at first I thought it was a failure, so I started looking for ways to drain it, but then I realized I just had to make sure the screws were a tad tighter to make sure it was fully in place and wallah! I pulled out the switch and it had been "fixed" twice using duct tape then electrical tape, so I new the zip ties would work and it was worth the effort. Thanks again.

Dude, I have not seen this repair made as simple as you have. I've watched guys take the entire machine top off to replace the switch, I've seen them take the machine apart and Jump the switch. 2 Zip ties and the switch still works. Beautiful.

I followed your instructions exactly... Including you showing how to remove that virtually useless metal piece so I could zip tie the lid switch together using 2 zip ties I already had and it works perfectly!!! Not bad for a determined senior lady! I first changed the timer...and probably would not have had to...because it still would not spin or empty. But it works perfectly now....THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO! Unbelievable. Wouldn't have thought of this fix in 100 years but pulled out the switch and just like the video the glue had failed and the pin was pushing the halves apart rather than the switch on/off. Per instructions removed the worthless metal piece and twist tied the switches halves together screwed back in and voila, works perfect.Had I not seen your video I would have called Sears tomorrow to pick my machine up and deliver a new one. Saved me mucho $ and a lot of wasted time and effort. Godspeed in life's journey my friend.

Just fixed a neighbors Kenmore 90 Series Model 110.23902200 top loading washer yesterday. It looks nearly identical to the one in your video. The problem was the lid switch because we had a failure of the drain and spin functions across all different cycles, not just one which could have otherwise indicated a bad timer. I've fixed these before but used epoxy glue to put it back together. Your solution , in this case, was perfect and spot on! Thank you for taking the time to produce this excellent solution! I know... eventually, it'll have to go! But you Mr. saved me such a hassle from having to go out to buy, disconnect, reconnect, etc., etc., etc., a new washing machine at this difficult time! Two tie wraps (zip ties) did the trick on this model as well! Best regards...

Perfect thank you!! And as we found out out of necessity... if the switch completely falls apart.....you can eliminate it and just hotwire the wires together and put some shrink tubing over the wires to be waterproof. Works perfectly again.

Many, many thanks. My whirlpool did not drain or spin; switch was not cracked so the zip tie trick did not work. However this video at least led me to the trouble and a brand new lid switch at $9.49 solved the problem. 😃
