Washer Won't Spin or Drain - Easy Fix

Right in the middle of a load of laundry, the washer stopped when it should have been spinning, and I was left with a washer full of water and wet laundry. This can happen for several reasons but in this case it was a simple fix.

I'm 75 yrs. young and not afraid to try fixing things. The two little screws wouldn't come out and a friend came to help out. In the end, after determining the problem,. he zip tied the actuator, slid it back in and ... voila!!! Your excellent video probably saved me $100 or more. Thanks ever so much:)

Let me start first by saying I am in no way mechanically inclined nor claim to be. However, ran into this exact issue this week and decided to give it a try. The only issue I had was when I removed the actuator it had a piece of metal attached to which I could not remove. After moving it around a bit I was still able to get my tie wrap around the actuator as shown. When I plugged it back in it worked. Must say I am quite proud of myself for trying and accomplishing this. Thank you so much for the video!!!

When I was trying to figure it out on my own, for sine reason that spot caught my eye and I pushed it a few times and then it went down in the rim and I had to fish it out. Your video was the first to come up and it's funny that I was just playing with that piece! I did watch a couple more videos just to see what they said could be wrong and that lid switch was always darn near the last thing they mentioned. They kept talking about the pump and different things and even had the back if the machine off! I went with your method and it seemed fine except the one screw hole had broke I lightly glued that together and I still put the zip tie on and she's spinning away right now! I'm an older single female and it's 2 am and the last thing I needed was my washer to break down. My fridge is already acting up and it's just too much for me sometimes. Thank you again for saving my day!

I had all the tools out though. I was about to take off that top console and look at the timer because it seemed stuck and then I saw the recessed lever. A three cent fix makes for a nice ending to a Monday.

My favorite part was when you reversed the screw first to set it without cross-threading. I do this on everything with threads!! Screws, bolts, tooth-paste cap, peanut-butter jar...everything! It will often "click" once it finds the threads. I never cross-thread because of this. I thought, "I can't be the only one who does this?" Cheers!

The switch doesn't cost much but if you're really in trouble can wire it together and bypass the safety switch for the door
