Thanks for the teaching! Our lid switch was split in half, and we fixed it with hot glue, and it worked. No slam the lid anymore, should be gentle.

Thanks for the tips! mine wasn't the switch, it was the timer. it seemed clean when i broke it open, but sprayed it down anyways(electronic cleaner) closed it up and it fired up into the spin cylce! thanks again.

This just saved my sanity. I thought I was going to have to order a replacement switch and use a laundromat while I waited for it to arrive. When I heard "zip tie" I decided to check it out. Sure enough, the top and bottom halves of the switch were separated. One long zip tie later and now it works. For those curious, I used a 5/16" socket. The sheet metal screws in the back might be metric, but it was close enough to get them off and back on. I can only assume the down votes are because of the weird audio where you can hear the original talking under the voice over.

I didnt down vote it but yes that is very annoying, also when he starts to say if you set it to spin and pull out the handle and nothing happens its probably... Then decides talking about taking out the two screws without ever finishing his more important sentence. Also instead of us showing how to clean it, aka the actual fix he cuts to a diagram instead that doesnt help any for how to clean it.

I have a similar laundry center and I happened to be in there when it happened: I saw a bright flash from that area of the room and then the washer just stopped spinning. I then could smell something like that hot electrical smell. And now the washer won't drain, it will fill, but it hums during the spin or draining cycles. The lid lock tested goid and so did the timer. I have taken off the front panel and taken apart the gears, pulling out the motor. I have started the washer with the motor sitting outside the machine and sure enough - the motor humms but does not spin. Is there any way to fix it, or do I need to replace it?. :-(

Did I see correctly that you are using a continuity tester on the switch side of the door relay? THat is the side that is disconnected from the electrical wiring. I am not getting a read out on my voltage tested when I try to test the side of the cable that goes to the timer on the front. I thought you had in your test the connector side that hangs off the grey plastic relay that clicks. Mine clicks but I could not get any voltage reading from the other end of the connector. We bought this washer from someone and it was working before we moved it. THe only thing we did besides unplug the electric cord and disconnect hoses was remove the washer top. I did follow this video and the timer which very clean already. I can only think it is the switch for the lid top but for me not to get a reading from the wiring that is connector to the timer is odd that it would stop working the moment it was relocated. Is that continuity tested different than a voltage tester? My voltage tester is really only good for testing sockets in the wall as you have to press it into a hole and this plastic sleeve has a spring to it that exposes the copper lead inside of the tester arms. I am not sure if the voltage tester was really making a connection hence my question about the continuity tester vs my voltage tester.

Great video, appreciated. I just have a question. Trying to narrow down diagnosis before I crack this machine open. My timer can be heard advancing then it just stops. I believe the machine should be draining while it's advancing. Question; will the machine make an attempt to spin if there is water present in the tub? Question; does the switch effect the draining operation or just the spinning cycle? Thanks in advance.

I think the lid switch is dead. It should let power go to the pump and spin.

This video was helpful but I put the dial on wrong somehow, like the indicator doesn't correspond to what it does. How do I know what orientation is what when the knob is off so I can align it right? EDIT: Nevermind, I made an educated guess based on testing. It _seems_ to be correct. Unfortunately the plastic thing on the dial is loose now and apparently nothing I can do about it ; (

You’ve got something caught in the drain impeller housing. Just need to remove the front panel and then clamp the hose between the tub and the train motor and then pull the drain motor away from the impeller housing and you’ll find a bobby pin or paper clip or bra wire or coin that’s blocking the impeller.
