Washington D.C. Metrorail: Kawasaki 7000-Series Railcar on the Green Line

Take a ride aboard "The Fleet of the Future", the WMATA Kawasaki 7000-Series Next Generation Railcar, in service on the Green Line, in the direction of Greenbelt, from Branch Avenue to L'Enfant Plaza station. These trains debuted back in August 2015 on this line.
These trains are gradually replacing the 1000 Series (the oldest in the fleet) built by Rohr Industries in 1973, the 4000 Series built by Breda in 1991, and also the 5000 Series railcars built by CAF in 2001 (All of which are now retired).
Also, a bonus part includes seeing this train departing L'Enfant Plaza with another 7000-Series Green Line train, in the direction of Branch Avenue, arriving and departing on the other side at the end of this video.

Well the tracks are on concrete slab, so when the wheels move, that noise is emitted. It also has to do with the speed the train is going at.

Great video. I hate that they don't always let the full announcements play. IMO, WMATA should just get rid of "Step back to allow customers to exit. When boarding please move to the center of the car." It takes up too much time. It should only announce the line, destination, and next stop at the station, then the doors closing announcement.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking also. They should only say "Doors opening", like they did on the older voices, and then announce the line, destination, and next station. Also when closing, the voice should just say "doors closing". But at least you can hear the whole of it when I get down at L 'Enfant Plaza.

Ideally, the line, destination, and next stop should be announced as the train is arriving (before it stops completely), and then again after the train has left. That way, people decide before the doors open whether they got the correct train, and the "step back ..." announcements help to facilitate dwell times.

I think they should shorten it so that it says "Doors opening, please allow for passengers to exit before boarding, This is a Green Line Train to Greenbelt, The next stop is Archives." Then when at stations with long names they only say the whole thing when I arriving at the station like " This is Ronald Reagan Washingtion National Airport" and at Crystal City or Braddock Rd it'll shorten it to "the next stop is Ronald Reagan Airport"

The 7000 series has taken over the green line/yellow line xD Red line has 3000 series/7000 series. Orange has 6000 series/7000 series. Blue line has 7000 series. and the silver line finally have the 7000 series on the line.

The 7000 series have been on the Silver line since 2016. You can definitely see one on that line in my other video that features a compilation of these trains.

+Vivek Chandra Maybe he was still used to the older car series since they didn't have any automated announcements, and drivers had to make manual announcements, but at least it doesn't happen when the train is leaving L "Enfant Plaza.

Well, these trains now have flooring instead of carpeting, so it would cost less to clean, and it would be a lot easier, and plus no more smells.
