"It was a Friday night about 9:30pm when she left her friend's home, and she was going to walk to her home," said Grays County Sheriff Rick Scott. "Her walk would have taken her about seven, eight blocks to get to her house. She never showed up.” UPDATES: bit.ly/2OrAxie

I’m not judging, however I wouldn’t allow my child to walk home alone at that age. People always think “not in my neighborhood” when in all reality it’s always YOUR neighborhood. Such a sad story!

@Rain L agreed. It's easy to say things like this in hindsight. I remember at about the same age I'd been sent out to look for my brother bc he hadn't come home yet and it was right around dusk. I was on my bike taking to a friend when a car pulled up, spooked me and literally chased me all the way home. I ran into the house screaming and my stepmother might as well not even have acknowledged me at all. Come to think of it, she was an evil woman and probably behind it

Josh Baum, Lindsey Baums older brother, moved in next to me in tumwater wa shortly after her dissapearance. I knew him. He was scary. I was 8 or 9 and he was in his teen years. He seemed to gravitate to me and my friends who were younger. Looking for social acceptance. He was a serious sociopath though. The few times I have had the displeasure of his close encounters. I know I saw evil in those moments. It gives me chills to remember. He admitted to molesting my best friend who was also 8 or 9. He told my mom straight up that he left her behind because she wouldn't shut up. This almost 1o year old girl who was his little sister. He literally admitted to leaving her behind in the dark. Im just so sad people can get away with things like this.

I like him WAYYYY better than the young female reporter with the long brown hair... She is just obnoxious. She literally camps outside of people's homes and jobs for hours, even days sometimes, repeatedly knocking on doors, while also texting & calling their phones and their relatives phones, all at the same time, and if all of her attempts fail she's even been known to hire a private investigator to hunt them down. She's been threatened by numerous people and has had the cops called on her more than any of the other CWD reporters for refusing to get off their property and stop harassing them. I get irritated just watching! Lol I really don't know how she still has a job.

Because many people dont know how to be good parents. Unfortunately it doesn't require competence, intelligence or common sense in order to get pregnant, and sometimes people who are not capable of raising and protecting the most precious thing in the world (children) get pregnant. Then by default, they're short comings as a parent are in the hands of chance, probability and fortune when predators are lurking. That's how!!

We'd wave off when the child arrived and I could see them walking up the driveway to the house. I'm not criticizing the mom because I know she loved her daughter and felt safe it's just a scary world out there and some of us are more aware.

This show said eight blocks and if you look at the map they presented it's not a short walk. 10 or 11 is very young still to be alone even in daylight but if the information they gave is correct 9:30 PM is usually not daylight. Still teenage girls are abducted on their way to school in the morning broad daylight. It doesn't make a difference day or night or 10 or 11. It's just terribly tragic and so sad that we need to be so cautious with our children and ourselves. Two incidents of attempted rape and kidnapping in the last 4 months in my neighborhood and I live in a neighborhood where the least expensive homes are a million dollars. Not high end mind you just California 1950 track homes but pricey. People think they are safe in nice neighborhoods and nice towns. I bet for the most part she was..just one very evil and sick individual and this happened. So sad.

I agree plus 9:30 at night is WAY too late for a 10yr old to walk 7-8 blocks. My daughter is 14 and she has to be home BEFORE dark (7:30-8) and if she's at her friends down the road she HAS to be walked back home accompanied or she doesn't get to go! My other daughter is 7 and she isn't even allowed out of the yard alone and 9 times out of 10, if she's playing outside then someone from our household is with her. Maybe too overprotective but there are CRAZY creeps in this world and I'll do any and every thing I can to keep them away from my kids.

10 years old and walking home in the night. My niece wasn’t allowed to go the the near supermarket alone to buy candy during the day. It happened once and we all freaked out, she said she went with a friend and started crying. She never did it again because we warned her about the “all people are not good” and the people we say hi to can also be bad. She’s very beautiful and very kind. Now if anyone approaches her in school or asks to go with her they have to provide a save word, the police asked the parents to have a safe word because pedophiles were claiming that “your parents told me to pick you up or your mom is in the hospital I have to bring you there” so because of these incidents police asked all parent then to give the child instructions not to go with anyone that doesn’t know the “password” and scream.

I do not stand up for parents who knowingly put their kids in harm's way like knowing their significant other abuses them etc... but things of other situations happen....For example, it was my bday and hubs watched our toddler in a busy shopping center as I tried on clothes. What could go wrong, right? Next I knew...he was calling her name bc he lost her. He lost her right there by the dressing room. For one time in a long time I put myself first and my baby went missing. I was panicked. I came out of the room after quickly getting clothes on and I searched for her and I found her. Bc as her mama I knew where to look and she was a long way away at that point from where we were in the store-at least for my comfort...as I had to walk about 100ft... But I found her quickly bc I knew where to look. She was fine... and that was that. I've always been protective. And that situation scared me yes but didn't change my parenting style at all... Now my little lady is 7yrs old and I don't let her out of my sight as I never would regardless ...when going across street to friends house even I watch her as I always would. BUT... is that a world we should be living in?? To sit there and blame a mom for a murderer taking advantage of their baby in a vulnerable situation? We can do better than that. I'm a mom that puts my daughter before my ever waking need and I could still end up like this mom and baby bc of psychopaths out there. We aren't all perfect and we dont all follow the same rule book... but it's a shame to say an innocent and grieving mom is responsible for what a psycho did to her daughter.... when I walk in front of my kid and for a second dont hear her behind me I stop and grab her hand. Is that the world we should live in? Lord help us 🙏💕

It’s sad that some people are being rude about the mother letting her walk. She already has to live with this guilt for the rest of her life, no need to add to it. Shame on y’all. Bunch of keyboard perfect parents

So because she was her responsible.. she has to live with this guilt she deserves it. Things happens even if you are extra careful and here leaving a 10 yrs to come home alone thinking just 8/9 blocks away, which part of the world she is thinking there is mo possibility of anything

Holy shit. At the beginning of the video, with the sentence "you realize you saw your daughter walk out your front door, just a few minutes ago, and you don't know if you'll ever see her again is just kind of an earth-shattering moment" is pretty hard to swallow...

Right! Ugh. They searched one guy's home, but I want to know, did they search both guy's vehicles?! It's very possible that they grabbed her and drove to a different location. Like when the one guy said he wasn't in town at that time.."well, where were you? Dropping her body off in the woods 30 minutes away?!"

Back when I was a child I would walk to the school and back alone. My school wasn't close ( 30 min. walking). Once a creepy man followed me he jumbed out of his white car and was chasing me I freaked out and went to the nearest house begging them to let me in. It was an old lady's house she let me in and closed the door then called the police. The man vanished without any trace. I told my mom I'll never go to school again. After so many talks and psychologist consultations I went back to school. I remember it as it was yesterday. I'll never allow my child to go out alone. We are in a world full of criminals.
