Yes, but also no. Proof of citizenship is required to register to vote. It is NOT required to actually vote. How many people will need to buy a copy of their birth certificate to be able to cast a vote, and is that effectively a poll tax?

Proof of citizenship is not required to register to vote. Some states will take an electric bill. Some places take a drivers license. None of these show proof of citizenship. There is zero excuse for not having a valid ID and a proof of citizenship. Just a drivers license will not do anymore because some states allow illegal immigrants to get drivers license.

This makes perfect sense. You have to have proof of citizenship to register to vote but not to vote. A citizen could register to vote and then renounce his citizenship and vote anyway.

They can apply for one, at a cost, and it takes time to receive it especially if hundreds of thousands are requesting it, they don't have the staff to keep up with the requests and could take months before receiving it, likely past election date. which is the plan.

It seemed to me that Congressman Hakeem Jeffries of NY was taking advantage of people who assume all people in the military are U.S. citizens. To go further, not everyone who has a Driver's License or a college ID are U.S. citizens.... Now, the bill will go to the Democrat led Senate where it will be dead on arrival. Ask yourself why this would be. They don't care if Trump will be able to declare: 'The Democrat's voted down a bill to make it illegal for non-citizen's to vote.' In my opinion, the Democrats want their message to be heard by the now confused, non-citizen "voter". Will the Democrats care if the unwittingly non-citizen "voter" gets caught and perhaps ruins their chances of becoming a U.S. citizen. NO. They only care about winning the election.
