To the gentleman wearing the black Marshall tree and black hat. Your sharing is profound, your friends coffee shop, to hear that you're "shaken to the core", that life is "like suspended" and resonates so deeply with me. I've never witnessed anything such as this, yet know that I wholeheartedly are holding you and your community in prayer and tremendous compassion. Your life of optimism has been hard hit, understandably, yet in time you will welcome your optimism back. Bless your heart, especially during such a devastating time, take care as there is only so much a person and do in a day and then the sun will rise again to continue to the next day of more of the same. Prayers that the community can support one another while taking care as best as possible along the way. Heart and prayers Tara

I moved back to Florida in 2017 and bought a mobile home in a nice small area of central Florida about 20 miles from the west coast. The first year back a hurricane hit the Florida Keys and destroyed them and headed north to where I was. I left with my dog with anything of value and sat in South Carolina for 36 hours ready to just drive to North Carolina to find a place to live if my place was destroyed. Now I have a camper to hook up . And every spring im prepared to move in a few hours notice if i have to. These people never expected that something like this could ever happen to them and my heart goes out to them . I never expected that to happen to them ,i figured they would get a little wind and a little rain.

@UncleDavesKitchen Ай бұрын
I didn't anticipate the destruction to the northern states above Florida to be hit so hard. Hills and mountains with the water running down the valleys collect at the bottom. Such a beautiful area, I was in Asheville NC 2 weeks ago looking at property to buy and had such a feeling of doom my 2 day stay I cut down to 3 hours and left. Now I see why. I used to live in a Class C and work as a traveling nurse in Florida, then bought my house in Arizona. Good idea if you want to live in these areas to be able to pull up stakes and leave. Only thing is a quick tornado is difficult to anticipate and out run at a moments notice.
@Oldschoolrules123
@Oldschoolrules123 Ай бұрын
@@UncleDavesKitchen Tornados are the worst, I would never live in an area that has many off them. Some years back in Kissimmee Florida about 50 people died within a few hours from tornados . So it can happen in Florida but not like other areas. But I've been lucky in different areas that I have lived in,in Florida for over 30 years. I'll take my chances here but be prepared to move and live somewhere else if necessary. Ashville is beautiful,I've been through there. Very sad for them people.

So much uncertainty. Will it be ok to rebuild in these floodzones? Not without lots of expensive infrastructure. How many people are going to have to leave? The oceans are warming we all know it so does that mean this is the new normal? This is just the worst natural disaster weve had, SO FAR. Welcome to climate collapse. What a nightmare. There is simply no way to prepare for unexpected devastating events like catastrophic hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, massive fast-moving fires, etc. Living In North Carolina, most of these folks could not imagine a Caribbean/Florida/Gulf states hurricane working its way up to NC and causing such massive damage and upheaval.

@@dlphcoracl9645 When it hit North Carolina it wasn't a hurricane any longer. It was a tropical depression. It's the rain that caused the damage along with the rain they had for a few days prior to the other rain.

these are all known flood plain areas, the only solution is to never allow rebuilding in these areas

@@joejones9520 I agree with that, it's called weather and man can never predict the weather in the future. This could happen next week again. In Florida around 2004 ,we had 4 smaller hurricanes hit within 6 weeks in the same area. But after those Florida went 9 or 10 years without a direct hit from a hurricane. I live 20 miles from the west central coast now and I live in a mobile home that I got a great deal on. It's actually worth way more now than what I paid for it. But , every spring I have my camper ready along with the things I will load up and if a hurricane is coming my way,I hook it up to my truck and I can leave if necessary. I already accept that I can lose my home and will move somewhere else.

@@joejones9520 I agree. This is especially true in parts of Florida and the Gulf region (Louisiana/New Orleans, etc.). Makes no sense to permit rebuilding, especially in the era of global warming and extreme weather events.
