Always expect the unexpected. The Pensacola tarpon are mad at you because you keep going down south to catch them tarpon. So these tarpon are saying, you can kiss my big shiny scales, lol. Someday you just have to eat chicken instead of fish. Fun video.

So, all jokes aside, when my parents and I first moved to Florida back in 1994 we rented a boat out of the Gandy Bridge Marina in Tampa and we went fishing. The first saltwater fish that I ever caught was a ladyfish on one of those older iridescent top water spooks with the propeller with a bullet weight tied in front of it just to give it an up down action (and because we weren't catching anything so I was kinda screwing around) and it was a really fun catch. It was seriously about 2 feet long and it fought like crazy on an old Quantum Snapshot spinning reel and a Shakespeare medium rod.

Brant, those are Cubera Snapper. You have to have 80 leader and some serious backbone on your rod to get those fish out. I fish bridges too and with 60 main line and 80 leader, I still get dogged. Get yourself a conventional with a 7 or 8 foot heavy rod with 80lb braid and 30ft of 80 flouro if u can find it. You gotta horse them out so give it your all in the beginning. Good luck brother💯

it occurred to me that clarification of my comment yest might be in order. If i'd caught that beautiful tarpon first crack outta the box, i'd'of had to go lay down somewhere for 20 or 30 mins to get over the shakes and whatever else did or didn't happen the rest of the day would've been largely irrelevant...so i was teasing you about 'going off script.' They say brevity is the soul of wit but on the 'net sometimes it comes off as a rude crack but that was in no way intended. Watching you fish is more fun than a barrel of monkeys and I'd watch the Brant Peacher Show an hour a day if it was on...plse keep em coming! (between you and me, i'd've eaten those shrimp and then taken a nap)
