Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1HP. My Garbage Disposal sprung a leak. I was trying to hold out for the Covid-19 lockdown to be over and just call HSA Home warranty to replace. We have already call 3 times to have this Garbage disposal repaired, at $75 a visit. This might have been the best thing to happen to me. Instead of having a temp fix done for 75 I decided to just replace with something I thought would be a little bit better. But there is nothing little about this thing, but the power is much better. No it didn’t excite me but it gets the job done. If you are thinking about getting one. Here are some of the things I went through installing it myself, but it can be done. I just installed the same L-8000 yesterday. My old 3/4 HP Waste King lasted over 20 years, so I figured I'd stay with the same manufacturer. In my case the old disposer was hard-wired and used BX (flexible metal) cable. I felt bad about cutting the power cord so I installed a new outlet under the sink using a metal outlet box, 3/8 flex connector, plastic anti-short bushing, and metal faceplate. I noticed the groove in the rubber gasket so mine fit tight and I didn't get tripped up with that part fortunately. I noticed the new 1 HP is quieter than the 3/4 HP it replaced. I proudly strutted around the house like a DIY god while my wife rolled her eyes as she always does when I think I did something awesome.

@@shawspeaks8252 Also if it gets jammed, they recommend sticking a broom stick in instead of a wrench like on the bottom of the InSinkErator. There's also a special wrench that can be bought to do it in the same fashion from the top. Unfortunately this "Waste King" is just a generic China disposal with the Waste King name pasted on but for the price it seems to be a good unit. InSinkErator is the original garbage disposal and is still "assembled" in USA but even their 1 HP models don't have a warranty this long.

That will be a last garbage disposal you're ever need to buy. It will not jamb up,or rust the blades are stainless. I have one also it's actually a one horse and a quarter and it's a continuous feed it' will inhale a whole cooked or raw chicken and wont bog down its awesome and off the chain!

Hey I have a question for you. Does the mounting ring suppose to lock/click into place or just tighten up to the tab as tight as it would go? Also when locked should it literally be locked into place or can it still be moved? Mine is already installed, when it turns on it jerks a little (didn't think it should do that but since it's 1hp thought it may just do that) but as it jerks it loosens the mounting bracket causing it to leak. I figured it would snap into locked position when there but never did so I just assumed you turn it until the tab is as far over as possible.

I was a Civil Engineer in the Air Force... Thats plumbers, Carpenters, Electrician, Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Operators, Fire Department, Animology, and EOD. Being one makes you all when it comes time to train and deploy. I did not disarm bombs, but everything else I pretty much had to do. My job was a Generator Mechanic, I loved it cause I got to learn so much.

What size is that cable connector?

I cant say I have the answer to that question... What I will say is When it came to size... the Cable Connector was standard to what came out... what was not standard was the size of the Unit itself... this thing is huge... but it works well very well... I really enjoy sticking things down it my wife don't think should go down a drain... lol any and everything... sorry I couldnt be more help... I show what I know... lol

@@shawspeaks8252 first of all don't tell him what to do he can get any disposal he want and plus watch consumer reports about the stupid waste king. And if you put beef bones in it, it will clog and ise was first of grinding all the bones. Ise wins
