Thanks for the vid and inspiration. From Canada 🇨🇦. I've made rocket stoved from wood logs by having 2x air intakes to 1x exhaust chimey that created enough heat/draft to pull the air from both intakes

I liked digging little tunnels under fires on the floor when camping they used to burn super hot. Sounds like a similar type thing

Inspiration indeed - it's a Beaut! The puffing may be due to the bodywork cooling from being filled with the incoming oil, and therefore not as much heat available to vaporize the volume that's inside it - but don't take my word for it, I'm just guessing! Excellent video and thank you!

Thank you it's nice to know people like the work. I'm building a miniature one now so I'll see what I come up with on the back firing issue, but I think it's back pressure maybe. Thanks for watching

If you get the stove hot enough will it eliminate the soot when burning waste engine oil?
@smithbuilt10 ай бұрын
Yeah it does, but a small amount will build up over time, typically once every week or so I took the heater out once empty of oil and tapped it with a hammer and shake any build up out

This is what I figured after having watched several waste oil burning videos - I need a rocket stove with a long chimney for complete combustion, probably with additional holes in it for secondary/tertiary burning. I would like to use it as a wok burner using old cooking oil. Problem: I don't have your workshop.

Right on burner. Could you install a surround water jacket above the side air intakes? I'm interested about oil consumption, we have a lot of oil from oil changes around here, non shortage. Thinking of heating water for green/hot house, have old 500 gallon diesel tanks, can't afford to fill with fuel so might as well try to grow veggies. Thanks for the video.
@smithbuilt2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm sure you can place a water jacket around it. Thanks for watching

Nice video Shane. I really like the small hacksaw you have cutting up metal parts. A unique design as it cuts away from the headstock. The hydraulic metal break is something I have to build as the handyness of the unit is second to none. The rocket stove you made has given me a few ideas as to construct my own stove. The part of the flame puffing and snorting like a hog really looks cool. I would use a high temperature circular glass tube to make sure this stove would pass fire code in my garage. The machinery you have in your shop would look real nice in my shop also. How did you acquire the machines Shane ??? Nice and peace too. VF
@smithbuilt2 жыл бұрын
Hello again, the power hacksaw has been a really nice addition, granted it's not saving me time yet because I like watching it lol. All of my machines I've brought in poor condition and restored, some are from my local scrap man others I've had to travel for but I like old iron and it's a day out seeing new sights. The only machine that I got in perfect working order was the shaper it just needed some wiring work done. I've got eight restorations lined up 2 vertical bandsaws one is a startright the other was a line shaft driven one from way back, a radial saw ,a union tool and cutter grinder, a quarter and smith 10" hydraulic bandsaw, a Victoria u2 milling machine, a big compressor and a myford ml4 lathe. But I really need my new shed done first as most of the are sat waiting for me to have space to strip, Thanks for watching and cheers for the positive feedback

@@smithbuilt I can relate as I need a larger shed also. Look forward to see more great videos which I really enjoy making things. I fixed my friend wife CAT from here BMW. Saved here 2 grand in funds. Parts for exotic cars are not cheap. Good day too. V

@@victoryfirst2878 yep I drive a 30 year old Japanese import. It was the first car I ever owned and I still have the second car I've ever owned, oddly enough I've owned 4 cars in my life and there all the same make and model.... the 3rd and 4th were brought for spares for my 1st and 2nd 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

you need more air, putting that pipe on the air intake created a venturi affect, helping to suck air in, drill a few more holes, or make that one bigger /adjustable. beeing a 2 year old video, im probably going to find a video on your channel sorting it all out, good design, hard to find natural waste oil burner videos on youtube that actually show them beeing built. keep it up.

Thanks for watching. I'll give that a try when I'm back up and running in the new shed

Question : does it smoke and can you run it indoors?
@smithbuilt Жыл бұрын
There is a small amount of smoke from the flue but hardly any. If you can keep the area clean and not spill no drops of oil then yes I think you could use it in the house. But it would have to be fully sealed and I would want to run loads of gas leak tests
@teslapark3406 Жыл бұрын
@@smithbuilt thank you for that I'm trying to build a small rocket stove such as you to place in our fireplace that has been sealed up if it smokes as much as a candle that's good then I can use it indoors I will give it a try and send you the link if you're interested when I'm done.

I was just thinking about using a rocket stove with waste oil. Glad I'm not the only one. The forced air setups just didn't seem as attractive as a stand alone naturally aspirated design.

It works really well. I made another one but smaller it's around 5-10kw output. Much better for my small space and no leads. Thanks for watching

Yeah I think it was over fuelling and by creating a "pressure buffer" with the tube and the muzzle it helped ease the extra flow that carried the vapour. Thanks for watching btw

You may get a bit more life out of your auto "hack saw" blades by having some filler stock you but your stock to to cut. Rendering fresh blade area toward the back of the blade to get used.
