Oh wow! I love your version of the flower design! I'm not looking forward to making all my neutral ones so I might see if I can't get my knitting machine to work to make them instead! ❤

I'm a slide rule era chemical engineer. Before my engineering education I served it the Navy where I gained an appreciation of the fiber art of knotting for both practical use and as ornamentation. I like your approach to the art, science, and engineering of knitting. Well done.

I've tried knitting just the basic of the knit stitch and tried. The hexi Puff blanket is very pretty and I want to teach my self to knit so I can make hexi puffs and put them together and make something for my dolls first and then make something bigger next. Cause seeing The flower hexi puff together is a perfect for a doll pillow

I wonder if you could do several 'runs' of the hexi puffs at the same time on the flat bed???? rather than only one at a time? :)xx

What a great idea to use your CSM and knitting machine to make hexipuffs! I love that you make them in a group of seven and attaching them together like a bouquet of flowers. Great way to use up scrap yarn! I can imagine that this blanket is soft and squishy - very nice!

Thank you for sharing so much. I, too, am a combination knitter. I wish patterns would just say 'left-leaning decrease' or 'right leaning decrease'. This SSK stuff requires so much thought! I'll look into that Craftsy class. I'm a long time member. You have 'un-vented' as Elizabeth Zimmerman would say, the hexipuff on a double bed knitting machine. I did a demonstration for the Brisbane Passap Club in February 2012 and published the pattern in the newsletter for that month. I showed how to do it with the waste yarn in between each puff. Another member adapted it for a single puff. Everyone at the meeting had an idea on a different method. I can send you the article if you wish. Keep up the good work! Kisses for Nutella too!

My Beekeeper's Quilt has been in progress for like 5 years. I'm knitting hexiflats rather than hexipuffs, and I AM knitting them by hand. But I'm spacing it out, I'm knitting them with sock weight leftovers, so far I have like 500? I want a BIG snuggle blanket though so it'll be a hot minute, but it's nice to knit a few instant gratification hexis between my bigger projects!

I hand knit The Beekeeper Quilt about 5 or 6 years ago (well, that was the end date lol). I made 500 hexipuffs and it took me about 18mths. Each hexipuff took half an hour in the end (they started at about 45mins each). I printed up a grid of numbers to 500, the first 100 hurt but it was so exciting to cross off the hexis ❤❤ Was fascinating watching this video from a different perspective.

Today im giving my wrists a break from knitting and sampling some crochet square patterns I’ve had saved for a while. I don’t know why crochet doesn’t hurt my wrists but knitting does. I had started knitting a dress for my daughter and I suppose I just knit too much for a 3 day period 😅

Editor me (approx 10:05), you just 'discovered' SAYG....or Seam As You Go 15:56 (approx) it might also be easier to pick up the stitches from inside the waste yarn, as you pickup just the purl bump and it stands out because the waste yarn is a contrast colour you could also knit one puff, stuff it, cast off on the machine then cast back on, rehanging the cast off stitches and knit the next puff, repeat this until you have a 'chain' of them all stuffed and all you need to do is bind off that last open end.

If you create a hexagonal lace pattern, you could knit the blanket in a front and a back piece on the flatbed machine. But this would involve color planning in advance again
