Ian Weeks I have no doubt the main reason - and i know some anxious agnostics will hate to read this but it's very evident- because he was raised catholic and had a catholic mother which was the most important person in his life. He converted to islam but those early years left the biggest imprint on him and he admit to it together with how much he loves his mother. Everything else, the movies he forgot. (from another interview).

goognam goognws let me just tell you that it’s not what u think . The reason here is the education in Egypt ( when we were a kingdom ) was so outstanding not like nowadays sadly . And most of the Egyptians actors at this era were exactly like him , elegant , educated ...ets . ( you can check for example an interview with his ex wife and the love of his life Faten Hamama in the French TV . It’s not about the religion . It’s about the education . I hope u r educated enough to understand .

RIP Omar Sharif. Such an incredibly gifted, beautiful, intelligent man. He was so insightful & so fully knowledgeable about himself and the world around him. He spoke six languages fluently and received his degree in math and physics. Always soft spoken yet he always clearly elucidated his thoughts and ideas. And those eyes, he was able to speak volumes with his eyes. I could only see him whenever he was on the screen - everything else faded into the background. It's so sad that he was addicted to gambling. I believe that robbed him of true happiness......he was a person who most certainly deserved to be happy.

Joe m. joe It used to be like that where I live (Ireland). But today we can say what we like about religion and most things. Things are very different in many muslim countries; and difficult for people who think deeply.
@david81579 жыл бұрын
Joe m. joe Yes, that is difficult to deal with. The transformation occured in the space of a couple of generations in Ireland. Maybe it will occur in moslem countries eventually. And Egypt is one of the more advanced. Meanwhile, dont rock the boat too much. There is no reasoning with fundamentalism; and it can be lethal, as we can see throughout the Middle East. What do you think of your government today?
@david81579 жыл бұрын
Joe m. joe I live in the Republic. I grew up during the 'troubles' (as we called the war in the north). I came to hate the northern accent because of the nightly news reports from the north about bombs and shootings. I lost family in a bombing here in Dublin. The whole thing was disgusting. I never supported either side. I Destested both factions intensely. Things have improved a lot since then. No more bombs and shooting. It takes a lot of effort and generational time to resolve these kind of historical sectarian wars. It will be a long time before the Middle east will overcome the sectarian wars now raging in Islam and between many countries. There are powerful forces which are encouraging these wars for their own benefit. They want Islam to tear itself apart so they can dominate the region.
