Was the M1 Pro chip an old design in a parallel universe? (Also, 120 Hz XDR/HDR ProMotion display, and supports up to 4 external displays). The ports are nice, though. It's funny to see an Apple laptop with an HDMI port. It seemed like every generation they'd provide a different video out connector, and then no video out connector. Now, if the prices weren't so cray-zee high....

I think a lot of people fail to realize that pro machines aren’t for college kids or your average consumer. Apple is finally going back to serving 2 different groups instead of trying to make one device to satisfy all needs. The more professional look, higher specs, and price gap are all there for a reason! There are great devices for all users now and with the 16 inch, far less compromises to be made for the prosumer market.

All other work such as engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, etc or gaming there is Windows, Linux, and to a point Google Chrome books I guess. If Apple really wanted to aim this at other markets they would have showed that on there website.

I’m constantly working with 2D and 3D softwares and occasionally do videography and desperately need a computer upgrade. So this is my Mac 2015 model but with a M1 CHIP, alrighty then.

A crazily roided out M1 chip, But also a ton of other small and big improvements, Much better speakers that were already fantastic on last gen, better Microphone array, Actually good Web cam, but by far the biggest is a crazy good display much better then any previous mac. 1,000,000:1 contrast, 120HZ adaptive refresh rate, 1600 Nits peak brightness, better color accuracy and more colors. These are probably the most actually Pro, of Pro note books.

earlier this year i upgraded from my 2012 mid MBP 13 inch (upgraded ram & ssd) to the m1 pro. Insanely worth it. Right away i noticed the speed and was actually able to have multiple browsers without worry. That m1 chip really is worth the hype. Also, was literally half the weight & super super long battery life. don’t even have to worry about charging it when i’m at school. if you ain’t want one of these, last years air or pro is a good alternative. & don’t forget apple stops updating macs after 8 years, only security updates.

Comparing specs and price, the entry level 14" macbook pro is most comparable with the XPS 15 OLED (2021). If hands-on reviews for the 14inch are really good-- it might not look good for the XPS.

Those who complaining about notch The screen is MiniLED display with 120hz screen And guess what… using dark mode and some darker wallpaper literally hide those notch better Since the dark pixel were also black as OLED screen, but with some blooming

Intel Released Kaby Lake G January 7, 2018 which did something similar back then. Looks like the idea of high performance graphics and cpu on a single die are finally getting a run for its money from Apple on the new M1 Pro. Kaby Lake G = Radeon RX Vega M GH 24 Compute Units and M1 Pro = 14 or 16 GPU cores . Would be kinda cool to see a benchmark for gaming graphics on the old Kaby Lake G and the new M1 Pro side by side
