I worry about titanium because of the wear and tear of the threads on a screwdown crown. But after having a grand seiko snowflake on my hands I'm changing my mind. Next level case, next level dial next level movement. Very compelling.

When you get use to titanium and its light weight and confort it’s hard to go back to steel. 👌 And I love this grey color much more under the radar than the usual polished steel.

Grand Seiko Snowflake (SBGA 211) ... also, titanium.

To not mention Grand Seiko when titanium is part of the conversation is darn near a sin. The SBGC231 is another stunning Ti piece from GS.

Always been a fan of the vintage Citizen Pro Diver Solar-Tec Titanium watches. They are super lightweight, durable, accurate, and very much “set it and forget it” type watches. They also have the benefit of having no caseback. The 200m WR relies only on the crown gasket and crystal gasket. Charge it in the sun for a bit and it’s good to go! My dad has been wearing his for 25+ years now. : )

Was shocked when I got my first Ti watch, thought it felt cheap!! But for a genuine tool watch it's excellent. Cheers Mate 👍🏻👍🏻

I just purchased an aluminum case and bezel watch from Hamilton and love its lightness. It's also on a Nato strap which helps with the weight even more!

Titanium is such an awesome material. Both color and weight give it a feeling of understatement, especially when it's not polished. It does what it's supposed to do, without having to impress anybody. Note that grade 5 and 6 are a lot harder to work with than commercially pure Titanium. The latter is absolutely sufficient for a watch that's not leaving earth.

Not well covered topic: only mat aspect and Weight. But what about the different grade and résistance to scratch or dings of the titanium?

My Titanium Ball Marine Roadmaster Batman feels amazing on the wrist. Prefer that metal for said reasons. Only complaint is they used stainless on the center links. Prefer 100% titanium. Great video!

Can titanium be polished to a high grade shine like 316L steel? And does titanium scratch up more easily?
@olioli33922 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is. Watch the Casio Oceanus models, amazing watches.

There was no mention of the different grades of Titanium. Grade 2 is the most common, is the easiest, although still difficult, to machine but can't be polished so is invariably a dull brush finish. Grade 5 Titanium is an alloy including aluminium and vanadium that has greater durability and strength as well as having the ability to be able to polish it, it is unfortunately more difficult to machine that generates a price premium. I have an Omega Diver 300 in titanium and TBH the weight is no less than my stainless steel quartz watches. The Titanium does however, compensate for the heavy mechanicals.

Titanium is hard but does not reach the level of steel. This does not mean that titanium deforms easily.
@edmwftw39305 ай бұрын
Titanium material surface get scratched easily making the whole watch becoming very dirty-looking and old. Avoid at all costs unless it has special coating like Citizen's Super Titanium which is more scratch-resistant. Look how horrifying are the scratches of this Seiko Titanium watch: kzbin.infoWxJrK43QZpA
