This video as a tutorial on how to identify, choose and then fit a new watch clasp. These are the 3 fold type that are fitted on many watches. There are some things you need to know in order to select the right one and fit them. I was replacing one of my own so decided to film it. Hopefully this may help others out there wanting to do this.

Hello, sir! I've gone through, at least, some 5 videos over the last 3 or 4 months, aborting my "mission" over my frustration. I detached the foldover clasp to ajust the bracelet and could not figure out how to put it back together. This morning, after looking at my watch sit on the mantle for months, I gave it another try. In short, your instruction was the one that saved me, by simply mentioning WHERE the pin should go on the clasp. Thank you so very much!

Very nice demo. I had forgotten just how terrible those old Seiko clasps were. I had a heck of a time replacing a clasp on a Deep Blue from a Strapco clasp primarily because of the special pin the clasp used with a hole larger than a normal springpin. I needed a single shoulder pin I had to get in the UK.

I like the way you changed out the locking device on your watch and I have some which is too loose when put on and having a hard time adjusting the bands. There is one band on a designer watch where a jeweler took out a link by accident and I now have to figure out how to put the watch back together. The jeweler was an elderly man so I didn't complain about what he did as he should have been retired.

I've got to replace a sprung pin on my Seiko bracelet clasp. I've measured the size and as far as the length is concerned it's coming out at 18mm. Initially, I thought I might be able to cannibalise an old Lorus bracelet and use the pin from that, but firstly the pin for the Lorus is more complex in that it comes in four very small fiddly components, (a spring, a tube in which the spring inserts and two ends pieces), don't know if you've ever seen one of those but it's not easy! When I'd got it apart from the Lorus, I tried it for size on the Seiko. It didn't fit. The diameter of the tube that houses the spring and the end locators was a bigger diameter that the link it needed to go through, so I've had to abandon that after a great deal of cursing! I've now ordered a few sprung pins from a seller on eBay. I'm just hoping that they are the correct diameter as none of the sellers of these pins specify the actual diametric size. I assumed that they would be standard across all makes of bracelet/watches, but obviously I assumed wrong! I'd appreciate your expert comments.

Cool video. How do you remove the clasp connection if your ends are flattened? I'd tried to remove from the clasp and realized its only push pin on one side and the other is not which is next to impossible to come off - perhaps there's a special tool to remove that connection?

Oof got a little messy for me. Seiko decided to put a pin that is fatter on the middle and thinner on the ends. It did not come out nicely and I bent the clasp. I was able to get it to go back in, but I ruined that pin. I was still able to swap out the cheap clasp on my new jubilee with my original Seiko clasp.

If we don't like the fit of a bracelet, because it doesn't have enough micro-adjusts. Would it be better to change out the entire bracelet and clasp? Or to change it for a clasp that fits the links, with the proper number of micro-adjusts?

@@MyRetroWatches yes I think it going to something like that ... if so you just need to find a folding part that's the right size and swap the clasp onto that you'll only need to repin the bracelet onto the new folding part .

hi, great video, do you or can you advise on how to drill out a broken pin in a speedmaster buckle, driving me nuts, tried hammer and drilling, nothing working, its a standard steel pin remnant, just refuses to clear the hole, help please??? its a 1mm pin in a 1998/840 buckle, the pin holds the spring plate down at on end, the reason for the repair was the wire spring wore out and was attempting to replace it with a new one.
