I grew up hearing this song and still got along with my predominately caucasian and latino classmates and neighbors. Attacking this song of unity and upliftment is not a hill to die on but Maher will find anything to bitch about With all the black guests he’s had on you would think he’d figure out by now why the NAACP first thought there would need to be such a thing. Immediately searched Maher's claims about colleges segregating graduation and dorms. Unsurprisingly, it's something much less shocking that he is framing in the most outrageous way possible. For context, the colleges referred to are having a regular graduation and then some communities are having their own, separate gatherings afterward. The dorms thing seems to be referring to NYU where students can request to live grouped in particular dorm communities with common interests which range widely, one of which is black history and culture. As always, Maher is either misinformed or being disingenuous.

I'm really happy this comment is here. I graduated from college two years ago and everything you said is true. In fact, the black student housing section at my alma mater would often reach out directly to non-black students to live there because they could almost never fill the entire section with just black students. Most of what Kyle says in this video makes sense, however, (and I've said this on a couple of other Secular Talk videos) I do think Kyle has a real blindspot on racial issues at times. Here, I think he's to quick to buy into the framing of "woke segregation", when the things Maher and Rubin were referring to are in no way segregationist. To be clear, I hate when people refer to Kyle and others like him as class reductionist; 1. because he's not and 2. because they're always too focused on identity pol. Yet, I believe a greater understanding of race and structures put in place by some institutions to make racial minorities feel more comfortable in historically white institutions, would have made it impossible for him to be susceptible to Maher and Rubin's uninformed/disingenuous framing.

Joe Rogan has said he'd be happy to pay more taxes if it actually helped people. He supports M4A, free college, student debt cancelation. So it totally makes sense he supported Bernie.

It was never required by law in Japan to wear masks. Nearly everyone wears them because there’s a pandemic going on and mask-wearing is part of the government-issued guidelines. Of course there is a strong social pressure to wear a mask. But that model would never have worked in the US where you clearly cannot rely on people’s willingness to follow government guidelines.

To be fair, they say you should build a niche when you have a YT channel. I didn't, so I could touch on World History instead of a specific time and place, and I barely have any subs, but I'm enjoying what I'm doing and that's worth so much more.

Saying "I don't agree 100% with something" doesn't mean that you turn your back on your values. Just because I don't agree all the time with people on the left doesn't mean I now don't support Medicare For All.

Yo no joke this is honestly one of the smartest critics Rave Dubin has made in regards to JRE and avoiding taxes, it actually makes perfect sense. Every time Rogan spoke about places he'd like to live other than Cali, not once did he mention Texas, then all of the sudden 100M deal, high taxes in Cali, which he hasn't sold his home, shows the entitlement millionaires/billionaires have toward paying taxes.

For a while, I really empathized with Rubin, right before he turned into a grifter. Kyle, you’re 100% spot on about the “looking for a team” aspect of Rubin. He found where he could make money. He managed to latch onto Jordan Peterson’s coattails for a while.
