Now I know how to disassemble and replace that failed bulky cable for a new one, I´ll need to heat up the aluminum case in order to loosen the hot melt glue used to stick both parts together. Thanks for sharing

You may find yourself going back to the 80s or possibly the 125s I’ve tried almost every model, and from what I listen to pound for pound, the 80 and 125 or a sweet spot You may not like what you’re hear in metal and wood.

@@Eric_In_SF Almost all headphones on the market are made almost entirely from plastic anyway. So if someone is going to get a Grado, then either the metal or wood models are the ones to go for, unless its to practice modding with the cheapest SR60 line.

The only problem with Grado is there are to many pressure point on the style of cable they use, I've had my 125's in 3 times for cable replacement. PLEASE give us a plugin version..

I Like Grado sound but seriously those cables... those damn cables triggers my rage, so many years and Grado dont listen to a single customer complain.

I’m torn on the cable issue because while I’d like detachable, I also give them props for not giving an in to these snake oil salesman who peddle these absurd $500 aftermarket cables.

The build quality on my SR325e's was not good. Loose cable from the offset, stitching on the headband was a mess and there was glue all over the earcups. Would have loved to have loved them but sent them back immediately. Got a refund. I'm not paying £325 for something that looked like it would drop apart if I breathed on it.

@@thegloriouspotato6223 interesting, because I’ve owned various pairs for the better part of 10 years and they’ve never developed any faults or failures. I’ve just bought a pair of RS1s from just after 9/11 (a notoriously spotty period in the company’s history due to supplier issues) and they work as well as the day they were made. They may not feel like the epitome of luxury, but they do what they were made to do, and they’ll continue to do so flawlessly if you don’t run them over with a lorry. The beauty of not over-engineering something and making it easy to replace parts which wear and tear.

Someone in the comment section of Z Reviews's GS1000i review said that his/her headphones lasted 25 years due to how durable the absolutely massive cable is. If the plastic cable can last you that long, I'm pretty sure the braided ones can last you indefinitely.

What kind of serious sound can we talk about with such an area of open holes in the dynamics? And this is in already quite expensive models. Very funny guys, very funny, and that's not counting your not neatly assembled speakers in which there is constantly crackling at low frequencies, then extraneous dirt on the acoustic impedance panel, or a wire soldered already with fallen strands. :Hand face:. This quality is not worth the money you ask for it. Learn how to make headphones correctly from an engineering point of view, and also clean and carefully with attention to all details, it's like you're making them for yourself, with love, then maybe.

It honestly seems quite clear to me that you don't know how actually good headphones work. Do you enjoy Beats or something? As someone who has the SR80e, I can definitely say that sound that you get from having open holes on the back of the cans is actually much more open and relaxed sounding. Especially after putting the G pads (very wide-sounding pads, yet very sibilant to where I should probably upgrade my model come summer break), I can notice that the sound is much more tight and closed sounding when covering the backs. As for the low frequencies, that is partially true for the fact that Grado's house sound focuses on a combination of detail and enjoyment. Comparing these to any non-audiophile headphone will get those absolutely crushed in the battle of sound. Comfort is another story, and I'm willing to admit that those pads are not for everyone.

@@XGamin1 Dude, you haven’t created any headphones and don’t know how technically they are designed to teach me what good sound is, you’re not on my level, so it would be better if you kept quiet. I made my own headphones and more than one pair, and I’m also an experienced multi-genre listener. If you want to listen to distortion, listen, but you don’t need to be clever if you don’t know how everything works and especially if you cannot distinguish level of distortion sound by ear. You look very stupid to tech savvy people, you are only liked by the same audiophiles who do not understand anything about the design of headphones and who prefer to listen to distortion and hum instead of normal sound with a much lower level of distortion.
