The Harts are desperate to sell their three-bedroom, chalet-style Thundersley home so they can move to Australia with their five kids. But after ten months on the market, they’ve had only two viewings and not a single offer. The scruffy, canine-scented home has plenty of potential…But it’s all buried beneath piles of clutter, peeling floors, unfinished DIY projects, a conservatory turned storage area, and the family’s two rambunctious dogs.
Enter real estate experts John Rennie and Sofie Allsopp. They vow to breathe new life into the Harts’ home… And while John gets busy motivating the estate agent, Sofie and the team get to work repainting, re-flooring, and reviving the home’s tired interior. Will the ambitious new design plan pay off?

Hello everybody , I am the mother in this episode , a few things I need to say …. Yes the house was untidy I agree I had 6 children not 5 and 2 adults and 2 German shepherds , a few months after this was filmed we split up as I was fighting a losing battle trying to keep the house clean with no help from my ex , he would sit on the pc day and night whilst I was trying to clean up and feed the children and do the normal daily chores , I was depressed and had no help or compassion from my now ex husband. I had never ever intended to sell it give away my dogs , I had told them this when they were filming and I was told to say for the programme to say I was thinking of getting rid of them which I never would have done , in fact the large gsd (storm) passed away recently at home aged 12 years old unfortunately the white gsd ice passed away a few years ago . I moved out of the property 6 months after this was filmed and split from my ex husband , he refused to pay any mortgage and I couldn’t afford to keep the payments up with no money coming in , the house was originally mine and when I married I put him on the mortgage …. Big mistake on my part . My ex never helped around the house or with the children , the younger 3 children were all under 5 the last 2 were twins , and had only just started school , the house started to go into disrepair when my now ex husband moved in and we had the 3 youngest children , when they were born I had no help , I had no family around me and he didn’t help he would just sit on a pc day and night , he would go around mates houses at weekends and smoke weed and take harder drugs … unbeknown to me this was happening .. he was also borrowing money on the mortgage without my knowledge , when I married him the house had £65k left of the mortgage , when he left (moved out ) the mortgage was £165k! He had been spending money on drugs , pc games updating his pc etc and not spending any money on the upkeep of the house or me or the children … there’s a lot more I could add but just wanted to clear a few things up …… no I never went to Australia this was not my dream it was my ex husbands ! Oh and finally we was also scripted to say a lot of things as well for the programme and to get views for the show !

I completely understand, we've all made mistakes, be good to yourself and take care of yourself and your kids as well as you can. From the beginning I thought to myself: this is a "depression house ". I'm not judging, God knows I made plenty of mistakes myself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself first, otherwise you can't take care of your children either. Much love to you, I hope you are well

I hope the dogs find a home together with a family that will train them, love them, and give them their forever home....you do not just get rid of pets unless your in a situation where it is impossible like homelessness or something similar...poor dogs and kids deserve a clean home, which has no "smells" with people that prioritize them...which means basic care, cleanliness, and rooms that allow them space...I hope all are in a better place now.

@mattyd3079 3 жыл бұрын
@@MaggieTheCat01 I agree - to a point. Children should be taught to contribute to household chores and help, but it's the responsibility of the parents to teach them that - which includes the mother. The way each couple divides up household chores is absolutely their business. But if the mother is staying home and not working while the husband has a paid job outside the home, then surely the mother has to shoulder more of the responsibility at home. Of course, it doesn't have to be that way, but clearly there is either a lazy mum in this house - either not caring about the house or not teaching the children responsibility. Yes, the father has a role to play in all that, but I think you're ignoring a very obvious problem here. As much as some might not like it, sometimes you have to point the finger at the mother.

Agreed. Every episode where animals are involved the Unsellables team tells them to "get rid of the pets", yet over 50% of UK homes have pets. Pets aren't inanimate objects to toss aside, they depend on their families. It's stupid advice, tell them to clean up after the pets, them to have the pets "pet sat" for the viewings, and tell them to train or have the pets trained, don't tell them to get rid of the pets indefinitely...

Actually it has happened to me, while moving my cousin told me to get rid of my dog because he's too much, I said getting "rid of" is good, and so "I'll get rid of you" (this was said right before dinner at her mom's home and resulted in her mom yelling at her) I walked out, blocked her number and all social media contact. Most countries require that pet be in quarantine for 3 months before they are allowed in. I’m not sure you can visit as some diseases will hitch a ride on your shoes. It can be a huge amount of money. Some cats couldn’t handle being motion sick or kennels. Wouldn’t it be better to find a new home for your pet then put them through the stress? Very much a decision that has to be made in the best interest of your pet not what is best for you. (Of course I’ve been known to no longer take trips longer than a weekend because the cat has no one to stay in the house with him.)

I had 4 kids, a very messy husband, 2 dogs, 3 large birds and my house was always clean, fresh and organized. It takes a lot of daily work when you have children and pets and I'm not saying that it didn't get a bit messy at times, with toys, art projects, rainy day indoor tent play, movie night with spilled popcorn, drinks on the coffee table, socks on the floor, bookbags and homework after school, holidays, slumber parties, etc... but it always got cleaned and freshened and organized daily the following day. I am the mother of this episode , I have left my own comment but yes I was trying to do everything myself , I actually have 6 children my ex husband did nothing , he didn’t help me with anything including the children , I was depressed and we split up a few months after this was filmed as I couldn’t cope with it all , I lost my house ( was mine originally then I got married and had my ex put onto the mortgage , big mistake ) I had never intended on getting rid of my dogs as they portray in the programme , i was told to say this for the programme , storm the Black and Tan died recently at home with me , ice the white gsd dies a few years ago unfortunately. Also I had tried to get the children to help but this was also like fighting a losing battle when my ex would say to them that it was my job not theirs they were children not my slaves etc etc so I was hitting my head against a brick wall with him undermining everything i was doing and saying !

I'm so disappointed... was so excited to see a new episode....I'm not a clean freak but holy cow. The sellers sure got more help than deserved in this one. I could hardly bear watching. This was more like an episode of Hoarders or OCD Dirty Houses than Unsellables. I'm feeling confused right now about the direction this show has taken. I just wanted to see a current episode of Unsellables not be forced into a cringe worthy torture session that left me feeling the need to go take a bath. And I was confused about the placement of the Dining table. Why was it blocking the path to the door when it could have been moved to the end of the other room, or better yet why not put a small dining table inside the house where the desk was, and put the desk out in the conservatory with a few relaxing pieces of outdoor furniture and some plants so that it actually felt like a conservatory? Why was an extra couch left in the living room, extending into a doorway? This whole episode was a little weird.

Why do these people moving overseas have so much crap? Paring down by at least 75% should have been done before even thinking of selling. What if they got full offer but they have to be out in a month. These people have zero plan.

The solution of giving the dogs away, in order for them to sell this house is the most cruel option offered. Once one gets a pet, the animal becomes part of the family, it is another member of the home, full of companionship and emotional support. And the fact that this has been shown on the Media makes it even worse. It’s definitely the most damaging and wrong message giving by a professional. I am an Interior Designer myself, and this is unacceptable 😠 designing is not just making a house more confortable and pleasing; the goal is also providing a space where its habitants can find healing; mentally and emotionally💜 The goal here was to sell the house, but the price offered to the owners is pretty high and cruel.

Once you decide to put your home on the market, you should consider it no longer your home. It becomes the new owners’ home, so it helps to see it from their perspective. Therefore, box all unnecessary items that you plan to keep but don’t need daily. Less clutter. Keep it tidy each day. Lots of work, but pays off in the end. These folks have a lot of work ahead of them. Also, your pets are a part of your family. I am disappointed that they suggested rehoming or boarding them. That will be very hard on the kids, too. Yikes!

Proves that even Unsellables can't make crap nice. The makeover barely made it better. The dog situation was sad. I'm a cat person but I'm an animal person. They seem like a nice couple, but if he would have given as much attention to their home as he did his hair and earrings, maybe it wouldn't be so disgusting.
