Hey man, wondering about the eco mode. What is it able to put out while in eco?
@JTVLIFE

@@gooley3770 Same. All depends on what you are running. Things that cut on and off with a huge start up load like and A/C are hard on the internals of these when they are in eco. Eco it purs quiet and increases output as demand increases. Out of eco it idles higher and is able to take heavy on off loads like power tools or a a/c. Hope this helps - Jason

I have a Westinghouse WPro 8500, Generac iQ3500, Westinghouse iGen 2500 and a Honda EU2200. The two larger models are for home backup through a 10 circuit manual transfer switch. (alternate usage) The smaller models provide power for the cabin, also alternating usage. The iQ3500 is awesome and super quiet! Good review brother. Thank you.

Does the Westinghouse 2500 get better or worse fuel consumption then the Honda 2200? Also how does the generac iq3500 compare to both of those?
@utubetjc
@utubetjc Жыл бұрын
@@whosnext2005 The fuel consumption is about equal depending on the load. I sold the iq3500 and the iGen 2500 then bought another Honda EU2200 to pair with my other Honda. The iq3500 is in my opinion a great performer and very quiet. See Gavin's Garage review on KZbin.

Good video showing the load it can take I’m currently running a Honda EU 3000 IS and want get something bigger for my camper and this generac is at the top of my list right now, have you had any problems with it, I do a oil change after every weekend of use on my Honda just to take care of it so the generac will get the same love if I buy one
@JTVLIFE
@JTVLIFE 3 жыл бұрын
@Steven Romero initial oil change interval is 50 hours with a valve lash check/adjustment. Havnt done that yet. Then it’s 100 hours between oil changes after that. I am going to do a video on the maintenance for it as soon as time permits. It’s a champ. I have run it in 40 degrees and 105 degrees with no problems. Owners manual says to run at least 30 minutes once a month when not using regularly, which I do. I also add “STA-BIL” fuel stabilizer to the fuel ever time I get it. The oil it came with and I will continue to use is a full synthetic so I’m not to concerned with changing unnecessarily frequent. And I do typically store and run it in a dry environment. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more Generac vids!

Great orientation!! Thank you for putting this together! We are waiting on our Outdoors RV 22FQS to arrive in a couple of weeks. We will exclusively boondock with it for the next 5 years on 1-2 week trips, monthly. I will also put a fairly robust solar set up in it. So, for the days that it isn't sunny. Or, the trips we opt to be in the trees, we will need to carry a generator too. I am all over the map with regards to what size or model to get. I would like to stay out of the 100lb world. They are nice as you get remote start in that category. But, I also have a German Shepherd, so I am going outside in the early morning anyways. This model really seems like a contender to consider! Quiet....and has the power to operate most of the rig at once. Do you cover your generator in inclement weather when you are operating it? Or, operate it uncovered? Safe travels!

@Campingalan - I live in northern California so it really doesn't rain much. We have been camping in places with rain, I drive down the highway with it totally exposed and have never had a problem. Most of the sound muffling is provided by a fully enclosed case. I have opened the door a few times when the temperature was pushing 100 but I really don't think it needed it. The only vulnerability really is excessive water on top could get in the fuel and the side with the controls. Normally I have a 30 amp plug in the 30 amp socket and put those "baby proof" receptacle plugs in the two 20 amp plugs to keep water and bugs out. Besides that, it's suns out guns out for this thing. It has been outside 80% (in the mild San Francisco area) of the last year. I am going to be posting a video soon covering the maintenance for this generator so stay tuned! Thanks for watching! - Jason

@@JTVLIFE Haha, Dec 12th.... wind and rain in Lafayette, East Bay. Ran my IQ 3500 today with the shop back door open and a box fan blowing the exhaust outside. This is the quietest generator I ever had and when its on idle control running 600 watts, I can talk on the phone next to it. 1500 watts is its normal load so its barely above idle. I really like this unit.

Is the yellow electrical adapter just an extension for the shore tie face to extend it outward or is it actually converting the shape of the plug to a different style?
@JTVLIFE
@JTVLIFE 2 жыл бұрын
It’s converting it from an 30 amp locking plug to the 3 prong 30 amp male plug that a standard 30 amp shore tie has. If you were going to exclusively run of a Gen you can buy a 30 amp locking 3 prong male (out of generator) to 30 amp locking female (into camper) cable. I’ll put a link in description. But to use existing shore tie cables that adapter is needed. Hope that helps - Jason

Just wondering do you have a soft start for your a/c? Thinking About this generator for my travel trailer 13500 a/c Thank you
@JTVLIFE
@JTVLIFE 2 жыл бұрын
I do not. That is the same BTU as mine. If the A/C is running hard, it will be on constantly and not really kicking on and off. So, there is really no worry. What stresses out the generator is a big load getting dropped on it (lol) that is beyond its capacity. If it is working intermittently and you have other loads on the Gen then leave it OFF the "Eco" mode and let it run at speed. It will be a little louder but the surge isn't as bad and won't stress the generator or campers grid nearly as bad. This is a beefy gen. A 13500 BTU A/c is about 1250 watts to run and 2750 at start-up. So as long as you don't have 750 watts or more already loaded on Gen you are good to go. I don't like wasting time or money so don't see the need for a soft start. Although it might make sense for others. - Jason

How many watts did the ac draw?

Right around 1500. Pretty sure the AC unit was around 13 amps. Volts (120) X amps (13) is around 1560 watts. Basically half of gens capacity to run air. Highly recommend the soft start for the ac unit if you plan on long term use of ac on generator! - Jason

I've seen the conversion kits for the Hondas in the past and actually just did a quick search and see that people are making them for the Generac IQ series generators now. Its basically a plate that mounts between air filter and carb and somehow regulates propane to the carburetor. All the ones I saw are either sold out or "coming soon". If I can get my hands on one I will definitely put one on mine just for added versatility. Don't think they are as efficient with propane but now more than ever propane is more affordable than gas. Plus lugging that stinky gas can around is a PITA! - Jason

@MelGibsonsFist A lot of places have curfews on generators so you can’t run them through the night. There are still a lot of people running older construction style gens still. Depending on the conditions I’ll take it down. Lucky in the environment where we live there really isn’t a need for ac at night (both air conditioning and AC power). Thanks for watching - Jason

I would be concerned with carbon monoxide fumes when you have the generator so close to camper.
@JTVLIFE
@JTVLIFE 2 жыл бұрын
@Dale Kaskey The Generator runs pretty clean and you can’t smell it from inside. We mostly run it for the AC so the windows are closed when it is on. On a longer stay I take it down. A lot of class C campers have the generators under them and the exhaust is piped out right under the bed area in the back. Not to mention the fumes of the engine while the camper is going down the road.
