Same exact thing happened to me when I applied for the Aspire. I have 5 credit and 5 charge cards with them. They told me that they could close a card for me and open the Aspire but I chose to wait until the anniversary of my Hilton Honors card next month.

It's never guaranteed, but it's very likely that you'll only receive a soft pull for additional card applications after you already have a card relationship established with Amex.

You may be able to use the card right away, but only if you receive an instant approval online. If the application goes to 'pending' due to needing more time, and then getting an approval later, then you'll likely have to wait until you receive the card in the mail.

Hi Mark, Really thinking hard of downgrading my blue cash preferred to this card. I love the card & 95$ a year isn't that much. But I could put my streaming services on my U.S Bank Cash+ card along with another category probably home utilities! I was just approved for the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card and I really want to put a lot of spend on that card for the 150,000 sign up bonus and just normal spend after the 6,000 for groceries, fast food including take out, gas stations. I still get 2x points after the 6k which I don't think is too bad!!! 😀😀😀😊 plus the free night every year ❤️❤️❤️! And after a year I could upgrade it the the BCP again if I wanted or take the plunge and pull the trigger on the gold card!!! I was kind of cashback guy and starting to get into travel finally!!!! You rock, thank you! Just be aware that product changes (upgrading / downgrading) means no welcome offer. Amex typically allows you to get a welcome offer only once on each card, but only if you've never had that card before. If you product change to a card that you've never had before, then that will count as "having" that card, making you ineligible from getting a bonus at that moment and also later in the future. So, it can be worthwhile to get each card you want via new application. Then, once you've "had" all the cards you need / want, you can then upgrade or downgrade freely without missing out on any new welcome offer.

Two hours later I got a denial letter stating the reason for denial is being to new Amex customer which is strange bc I’ve been a customer with them. I called the recon line and they told me that they just needed to verify it was me. So idk how there system works or the difference in reasons. Verified on the phone. @@MarkReese I just got the same email you did about accepting the new Hilton Honors card. I have the no fee version. I am not loyal to Hilton but it’s good to have an AMEX card with no foreign transaction fees, and good multipliers from 3X to 7X between Hilton, all the way down to groceries, gas, dining, and other purchases. I got the same $3200 limit I had on the regular every day card and they gave me the same credit limit back to me on the no fee Hilton card. Definitely a good day. I’m maxed out at five cards with AMEX again. And have one charge card in the gold card. In another year, I will probably go over the gold card and see if it’s worth keeping a second full year. I did the upgrade on August 11, 2023 from green since I wasn’t eligible for the welcome bonus, so I took the upgrade bonus and I am using it once a month on Uber eats and GrubHub when it comes to the two $10 monthly credits on gold. I have no use for platinum charge card right now. I have an international airport that actually has no lounges and is a small airport so I can’t do any centurion lounges right now.

Hey Jason - up to you 👍 There's no set rule for how long to wait to get cards across different issuers. However, when getting cards from the same issuer, the banks may have their own individual rules. That said, with Amex, 3+ months is more than fine.

I had around 10 inquiries on Experian and 5 inquiries on TransUnion. Didn't matter though as Amex didn't pull my credit report. Also, even if they did, Amex tends to not be very sensitive to inquiries.

@@MarkReese the reason it gave was due to my FICO score. I did not contact the reconsideration line because I didn’t know anything about it until watching your video. I was surprised I didn’t get it since it was an offer they sent me an offer.

Are you gonna do a unboxing video when you get the card? Also, I am surprised that you didn’t go for the blue cash preferred card. The one with the $95.00 annual fee. Just curious. I was gonna apply for this Blue Cash every day card, but instead I am going to apply for the Citi Custom Cash card. The benefits of that card will be more Beneficial to me than the Blue Cash Everyday card.
