Hi for those who are concerned about the level of hygiene in this video or in my baking business in general, I would like to clarify I DO WASH MY HANDS EVERYTIME I START BAKING OR every time i continue or as much as possible. Its such a basic habit of mine I did not think twice of filming it or mentioning it and I am very sorry for causing any confusion or doubts. But i would like to clarify, whenever handling food hygiene definitely 100% without a doubt so important. Please take precautions. Secondly, a lot of people are asking about licensing and stuff. In my country there are specific requirements for licensing and my business is honestly so small for just friends and family and mutuals that I dont think I would even count it as a business?. If you any questions please do your research before you start your own business or find a attorney, especially if u want to take it big scale. I honestly dont plan to and im comfortably with the reach of 'customers' im at right now. Honestly this process was just for fun. Please do not follow these steps one for one. Im literally an alevel student....

I just started baking commercially too. Lol. I used to bake and cook for my friends whenever they visited and they finally convinced me to start selling. It's so much fun because it's something I already love to do. The profit isn't much but it keeps me busy and it doesn't affect my job (I work from home) I enjoy it so much. Getting customers is the actual hard work, sending out samples which cost money, getting supplies for the best prices phew. It takes effort. Thank God for Canva because that helped save cost of paying someone for designs.

@@meenajones202 sadly yes. It's all about the experience. You still learn a lot in culinary school that you won't learn by working but experience is what's important. Though one thing I do notice is that those who go to school tend to be organized or are more conscious about cross contamination. Those who don't aren't as careful, but that's just from my observation. I worked in a start up bakery (worst place I've ever worked) and the boss would have her stuff (phone, keys, glue, etc) on a shelf that was directly above one of the work tables. It bugged me so much but it wasn't my place to say. She would work without a hairnet and be in her regular clothes. One day they found a blonde hair in one of her products and kind of pointed the finger at me that I should wear a hairnet because I have long hair. My hair is black lol I did start wearing a hairnet but nobody else, including her, wore it. Before this incident she only supplied us with a hair band. The dishwashing station was also in the same room as the food prep area. Though that couldn't be fixed because the place was so small

Okay no. This is NOT the way to start a business. You dont just one day decide i can bake a few things, now ill open a company and sell to the public, this is how you get people sick and this is how you get sued. 1. There is no food hygiene whatsoever. The number of times shes touched her nose/face/hair is just gross. She didnt wear gloves, didnt wear a hair net (or even tie up her hair), didnt show how much she washed her hands. She kept talking over open food. Her airways are not covered while she works with the food.. especially during COVID, thats very dangerous. In Canada you need to get your food handling license and have your home kitchen inspected to make sure its hygenic, your cooking tools are properly sanitized, your cleaning and disinfecting practices are up to standard, and to make sure you are storing food properly and separating food for possible food allergies. 2. Shes using what looks like a drawing of sailor moon as her official logo. Even if she came up with that drawing herself, its too similar to claim originality. Her ass is going to get sued for that because sailor moon is trademarked and is not her property to use. 3. You need to register your company. You could be taking some other company's name, which is their property and you are infringing on that. You are required to be transparent about your earnings because you need to pay tax to the government (literally the law). 4. This is more opinion than actual necessity, but I dont understand what qualifies her to have a baking business? I havent watched her other videos, but she didnt share any personal story behind it or look particularly passionate about her recipe/baking. Like are the recipes she used even original? Or does she just pull up recipes and make them. If thats the case, why would anyone pay her if they can pull that same recipe up from the internet and make it their selves? My perception of why people support home businesses is because they believe in that person's passion, their story, and theyre buying a product that they cant easily just make themselves at home. She didnt share any of that in the video and it doesnt seem to be part of her marketing platforms either. This is another issue in my opinion. You dont need to go to school for baking or have professional experience (but those are both huge pluses), but you should at least have a few years of experience baking enough that youre able to develop your own unique creations. Thats my opinion anyway. I know I'm being hard on her, but how shes going about this isnt okay, and she needs to know that before she ends up in a lot of legal shit. She could also harm someone by making them ill with improper packaging/food handling. This video is sending the wrong ideas about home businesses. Anyone else wanting to start their own business needs to know this info (and so much more that i havent covered in this comment) before starting that process. All that being said, I commend her entrepreneurial spirit and the work she did to start. I think if she shut her business down now, took time to get certified/inspected/registered, went through all the proper steps, dramatically change her hygiene practices and then relaunched, she could have her own successful business with good practices.

I feel like whether it came across harsh or not it’s good that you said all of that because I want to start a baking business with cupcakes and I didn’t know half of what you just said and I’m glad that I did because now I can be smarter and make sure I get it whatever it is I need to make sure it’s 100% safe and stored correctly and sanitized because you’re right it is going out to outsiders not just family complete strangers. This was very helpful and really open my eyes to absolutely everything you need to know not just going down 01 Tunnel Street and expecting things just to come out perfect.

wow this video is literally the exact same process I've been going through for my macaron business. I've been wanting to launch ASAP now but I'm just waiting on my stand mixer because I can't produce consistent macarons with a hand mixer so I took a small break from making them (too much stress from unknown failed batches). Yes that happens. The safest thing to do is to sell local and have people pick up their orders with the directions to refrigerate if needed/to consume the product before you know it will expire.

Hi I checked out her page! I'm sure the food is delicious but immediately I'd say the photography needs improving. Most of her pictures are take in a dark lit setting , strange angles and with unclear backgrounds. I'd recommend her to try take her photos in daylight, using plain backdrops, and looking at food photography Instagrammers for inspiration on angles. When trying to sell food through Instagram, how appealling the photo looks is everything. I'm not an expert or anything, just thought I'd try help you out. She can also start doing giveaways here and there to maybe lure more attention to her work. 😊

i calculated the cost to make 1 box or 1 cake by combining the price of packaging and my ingredients and made sure my pricing was above the cost :)

I just recently got my Instagram up for my baking business, a lot of people have been ordering and They are pretty good, it’s just keeping up with the orders and It’s difficult for me to calculate how much I’m making for each cake.
