Thank you for a wonderful video! Growing up in former Yugoslavia, I witnessed many of these individuals emerge as leaders or criminals who appeared on TV regularly. Some probably became idols to younger generations. Last year, a 13-year-old killed 9 students and a security guard in Belgrade primary school. I wonder what we, as a society, can do to prevent these individuals from harming others.

Thank you for sharing, that it's a profound question you ask. I don't know what the solution is. All I know is that the earlier we identify these individuals easier to work with because when they reach a certain age, they seem to be even more rigid in their thinking and more, facile in their collection of wounds. Thank you.

It’s important to differentiate between forgiving and moving on, and letting yourself become ignorant of the same circumstance occurring again. You can forgive, but you should not forget.

I appreciate the knowledge you're sharing. I just finished John Douglas's "The Anatomy of Motive" and I'm connecting the wound collecting info, with the many individuals profiled by Douglas. James Huberty keeping records of "debts" comes to mind.

Yes, so many of these individuals were wound collectors. In fact, anytime I think of a mass shooting it seems like these individuals have always been wound collectors even as teenagers. They seem to not know how to deal with the fact that life isn't fair. Since you enjoy reading these kinds of books, you may enjoy reading Robert Hare's book without conscience.

Wow, Joe. This was very deep. I truly appreciate your empathic connection while discussing such a difficult topic. I am significantly interested in your observation/opinion when this behavior (seemingly) occurs in those who are neurodivergent, with limited emotional schemas and mind-blindness. One of the most difficult explanations is deciphering the impact associated with neurological changes that could be traced to childhood trauma/abandonment wounds and how to navigate these anomalies in a relationship. I appreciate your consideration.

This is a significant issue as you so well explain unfortunately it is well beyond my expertise, study, experience, or learning. I think that is one for a clinician who is very familiar with neurodivergent research. Sorry but great question

Very interesting. As always very thankful for all the knowledge you have and share. I have an exam in psychology this Monday and this relates to many of the topics from the curriculum. I think it's interesting how some people face immense adversity and become wound collectors, while others use their experience to make a difference in the world.

Good luck with your examinations. Yes, it is amazing. Some people will wallow in their grievances and yet they achieve little and yet I have known people who have undergone so much trauma and suffering, and they have achieved much by focusing on others rather than on themselves. Every time I feel a little unhappy, I go and I do something for someone else and it always makes my day so much better. Thank you.

My gosh I been trying to watch out for that but every dang place where I go here comes someone telling me a bunch of stuff I didn't want to know or need to know. And it's worse now that I moved and don't have a washer and dryer at home and have to go to the laundry mat... Everyone's talking to me telling me what ever they can like let's air out the dirty laundry in more ways than one ... I don't have to say anything they just start talking to me. I tried wearing essential oils to maybe keep them from doing so that didn't help. Head phones are my best defense but they still talk to me.. 😅 I'm not collecting I'm trying to forget but my brain remembers so much in detail it's like I just want to wash my cloths and go home so I switch the days up going so I'm not being followed had one of them do that once. I didn't even know the people and they just walk right up like I have some kind of sign on my face that said hey I'm the person you need to tell all your problems to and dump them at. Glad i don't know them and glad I'm not trying to remember their stories if I was a writer I could write a novel. But I'm just a used to be house wife and now a blue colored worker that operates machines. I started listening to Joe so I could see trouble coming and try to be safer as a single woman. 😅

Hi Joe, thankyou so so much for this lesson. I had a question, again out of syllabus, so i am very happy to say i have slowly reached that state of awareness where i can see the small behaviours like hand movements tilts or lip pulling, just with my peripheral vision without even directly looking. But i have a weird problem where when i am doing these things i start to notice how am i able to see these, i start to observe my own thoughts in the brain and that collapses the whole auto read thing and i go back to force myself to observe. It is actually just like automatic or manual breathing. Brain is so complex i sometime think if it is in auto mode all the time, how easier the multitasking would be, we can actually do alot with our brain.

Both Prince Harry & Meghan Markle are Wound Collectors. I'd be interested to understand what happens when two Wound Collectors get together. Do they amplify each other's feelings of victimhood & outrage at the smallest thing? Do they further reinforce, justify & condone the other's feelings, so that they feel it's normal to feel that way about things? Do they take on each other's 'wounds'?
@joenavarrobehaviorexpert
@joenavarrobehaviorexpert Ай бұрын
I would not know that I haven't really listened to them. I think that's for others to decide, depending on how often they look for the smallest detail, however, every event is nuanced to seem like it's a personal attack. And somebody else would have to accumulate that information to see if it fits. In fact, I know some people who will through their own presence at work at home make others become wound collectors if only to have harmony either at home or in the workplace. But again, I don't know much about the prince or the spouse.
