Your hands--those same hands that you use to hold things and grab things--also communicate confidence, love, care, and a host of other things. Learn what hand behaviors mean so you can use them wisely and help to potentiate your spoken words or convey you are supremely empathetic. The Dictionary of Body Language: amzn.to/2FwEFd8

I've learned to observe the condition of the nails and nail beds on others' hands. Nail and cuticle bitten hands can demonstrate anxiety.

Amazing video as always Mr. Navarro! In one of the videos you did for WIRED you talked about different kinds of the same emotion, like "interested smile", "social smile", "curious smile". Would you do a video on how to differentiate all these emotions? Or perhaps recommend some literature on this that goes into great depth?

i keep watching some civil services interviews and in them interviewers says that we should limit our hands movements when are in interview explaining things but i have question regarding it that why they tells us to limit our hands movements in interview ?? is it not good to explain things with hands cuz my hands just automatically starts moving when i explain things ..my hands movements always try to match the words or message am trying to convey..i observe you too move hands very accurately when you explain things ..ofcourse in whole video i was watching your hands movements were so precise on every word you were saying your hands were conveying.😊 I understand that way too much moving hand is Not good when you are being interviewed but atleast little hands movements should be allowed in interviews..i watched about civil services.I see how hands convey lot than our words for example i very deeply watch interviews, advertisements and also some anchors on tv and they convey lot by their hands not by their words.Thankyou for this video sir am always thankful😊

This is amazing. I believe we as a human have some common Subconsciously Behavior, to some degree. The chalange how to spot the fake feelings especially if someone knows all these things. I'm sure you as former FBI agent have developed the skills to spot such things. It will be a very useful if you make episodea about this subject.

Mr. Navarro, I have a question about a particular nonverbal display. I notice yesterday that for years I tend to hit my closest friends on there shoulder in a playful teasing manner. Hand shaped as a fist. It only occurs after I make a witty joke, or sometimes when they do. Not always would I fist bump there shoulder but rarely. I was hoping you could share your thoughts with me about this.

May of us do that, I used to do that with my friend Orlando when telling jokes. It is a message or emotion amplifier

I am curious. I recently watched an interview with a woman sharing a traumatic experience in Rowanda. Every time she was sharing a particularly scary part she began to steeple, and she would begin to cry. Would that be cultural? Can you be confident and uncomfortable at the same time? What does it mean in this context?

Sorry i had a question, it is not about body language or anything. Joe, you have always been a very observing person since very young age. So have you seen a decrease in your concentration or just willingness to observe over the years? I think brain doesn’t get weak as we age its just the will, that weakens over time. I think it is just curiosity that decreases over time.
@joenavarrobehaviorexpert

Love the question. I think it actually has increased because as I age I see even more deeply. When I started I saw the more gross or macro nonverbals gradually I noticed the smaller more nuanced, then the cultural rifts, now I see the social, familial, cultural influences and finally when I look at those flawed of character it all blends in so the answer is it has increased in variety and depth. What I don't do is have to think as much about what I see. I have validated it it so much that it is very quick... Thank you wonderful question
