Thanks for the review. Crazy low price though? Hardly. They need to knock it out of the park to be competitive at the price. To each his own I suppose. It is great to see new watch makers out there.

Correction for Zach at 5.26 regarding compass function. You definitely don't need a 24 hour hand to perform compass bearings when your hiking and in a bind. In northern hemisphere the hour hand is aligned/pointed at sun, the halfway mark between hour hand and 12:00 mark is south. Then you move your compass bezel to that position. But you don't necessarily need a compass bezel but it helps. Method is different for southern hemisphere where I'm from in Australia. Use this method a lot hiking with my Seiko Alpinist. I really love this watch, expected it to appear larger on Zach's wrist for 41mm but looks great. Recent dual crown watches I've seen have tended to have huge udder-like crowns. Glad this one keeps the crown size neat and compact. Great details on it, instantly appealing. Cheers Selenelion

Hey! Thanks for the correction and for explaining the functionality.

I think the dots On the chamfer represent compass heading every 22.5 degrees. From the top you have N, NNE, NE, ENE, E etc. I really enjoyed your video. I got the Everest myself today. Really liking it so far.

Looks pretty cool, definitely makes me think of my Alpinist if you know what I mean. Like a brother-ish kind of watch; it would be cool to see in person. Both blue and white are compelling , IMO. Nice effort and release from a young company, I’m loving the variety of start-up releases your website and channel covers!

i'm a sucker for dual crown cases but for some reason, I can't justify the price to add to the collection. Great video, one of the best watch channels on KZbin.

I love this compressor design. I've been looking for a micro brand piece and have it down to this, the Baltic Chrono and the Mercer Chrono. The supercompressor design and automatic movement have edged Boldr to the top of the list. Now, to just pick a face I like the most...probably the white....Great review as always.

Even when I'm not impressed or interested in this watches, I have to applaud the effort of doing a "new" design, or at least something different from the classic and boring submariner look alike.

I really like this watch. Eveythign is in good taste and satisfied these new "Adventure" niecche in the market. To me its like a timex field watch, in a good way, thoughtful design, but with an upgraded movement!

I just received mine, it's a great looking watch, but man, it's running hot! It gained 6 minutes over the first 12 hours!

Internal bezel compass ring markings are at a a strange interval of 22.5 deg-not useful for any common application, and not easy to interpret at a glance. Even if the compass bezel is for decoration only, it should reference a common standard like 30-60-90 etc. Really the only knock I have with the design.

so if i pledge now in kick starter, how much will i pay? please kindly explain how it work, what is the different with pre order?
@Super_Maskass7 жыл бұрын
Hey, You'll pay between 389 & 419$ per watches (regarding the availability of the model). Kickstarter is basically helping the company to launch the product and finance the mass production. The pre order price should be higher (it is normally). :)

This reviewer is sold on the aesthetics, most of which can be found in the Timex Expedition series at 1/10 the price. If the distinguishing traits of this watch -- mechanics, provenance -- matter, then talk about them instead of the numerals on the dial and the canvas strap.
@wornandwound6 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, the Timex Expedition looks nothing like BOLDR expedition. Two fundamentally different watches, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality.
@ronjenkins42576 жыл бұрын
I'll grant that there is a significant difference between a quartz Timex and an automatic mechanical watch, but a search for "Timex Expedition blue" turns up very similar looking watches, differentiated visually mostly by the number of crowns on the case. As far as functionality goes, any analog watch can be used as a compass. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noCxXo16eNSlp8k Which one do I prefer? The BOLDR, of course, but dollar for dollar the Timex makes the BOLDR look overpriced. Maybe it's not, but this review doesn't make that case. I see that the movement in the BOLDR prototype (Seiko NH35A) has been replaced in production with the Sellita SW200-1, so that's a step ahead. I'm aware of the other differences -- sapphire crystal, 200m depth rating, etc -- but , , , ,

Not to belabor the point, but those are two completely different watches. Comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges, and that is not the intention of our reviews.

if steinhart can make a swiss watch with an ETA movement for 440 dollars why ist this so speciell then!
@wornandwound7 жыл бұрын
Here's a question: why is the movement your only consideration when figuring the perceived value of a watch?
@2791dles7 жыл бұрын
frips1000 Steinharts are mostly homages to already existing watches. The Ocean One is a homage to the Rolex Submariner but larger proportions. The exact case Steinhart use has been used by at least 3 other companies for their dive watches. So you aren't getting a bespoke case nor a bespoke design given its a Rolex clone (or homage!). I'd pay more for an original case and dial design any day than for a done to death homage design. That experimentation to create something original surely costs money in production stage.
@ElCajondePepillo7 жыл бұрын
I think we have to support those who are original, those who copy something, follow the easy but mediocre path to success.
@1Sanantoniomatute6 жыл бұрын
Steinhart is a clone brand at best, so you get literary zero worth in design back for your money. ZERO. So you're spending $440 for a replica watch(!)
