Jesse Akuhn Nothing suspicious about that my cousin has a cooking channel with 180K subs and it took KZbin about 7 months after her hit 100K to send the Silver play button haha. That ain't uncommon. I should clarify that it also took longer in his case because he didn't redeem the code to send it for some time average time is 1-2 months.

Many many years ago when I was in Boot Camp at Fort Benning, I had the change to go to the PX for the first time. I purchased a very similar watch, a Timex Navi Ocean. I wore that watch through many adventures and misadventures through military, law enforcement, and fugitive recovery work... The watch went through about eight straps and it kept on working for over two decades until it was unfortunately lost during a move. I miss that watch.

Quartz movements are extremely important in regard to modern day horology; especially when being used in real world application. My ACTUAL pilot colleagues all wear quartz pieces, because people's lives depend on the accuracy and durability that these utility pieces offer. All the "couch pilots" in the comment section are obviously clueless to the original purpose of these time pieces.

Don't get me wrong, I love pilot watches. I want my next watch to be the Seiko Flightmaster (Once I get in the airlines I am aiming for a Breihtling Navitimer) BUT as someone who actually flies, I can't help but think of FAR 91.205 and the requirement of a clock installed and how using a slide rule on a watch is close to impossible.

Andrew Mason Apple watch is designed from the ground up to be the most accurate watch you’ll ever have. Anytime it’s connected to the internet, it’s continuously synchronized with the atomic clocks. Mine is always accurate to the dot whenever I check it against time.gov We’re not even talking about the tons of features that come with it, like world clock, barometer, etc.

Georges Kern, who just took over at Breitling, needs to contract you to make advert media for the brand as he tries to breath new life into it. And, when discussing said contract, you can remind him that most human wrists don't support a 46, 48, or 50+mm wide chrome dinner plate...err wristwatch. I wonder how many Timex watches you sold with that intro! What a great intro for such an affordable piece. I hope you never catch a case of watch snobbery and can continue to enjoy and showcase affordable pieces, especially considering so many of your subs are young or new to watches.

Love that your catalog of videos represents every price point and application so well. Nobody should be made to feel they need an expensive watch in order to appreciate their timepiece! Timex is a fantastic brand. My first watch was a Timex gifted by parents when I was about 10 or 12, and I wore it for years. I'm now looking at an Oris Aquis 39.5, but seeing this video brings on the nostalgia! Cheers,

What a splendid review - succinct, considered, articulate with superb close up photography. And as always delivered with bonhomie. Thanks also for reviewing a quartz movement without any negative judgement (they have their place). While mechanical movements are what we respect there's no doubting that a venerable company like Timex has 'nailed' some irresistibly priced and aesthetically 'spot on' timepieces. Thanks again for a terrific review - best wishes.

Great Video and congratulations on the success of your channel. It has been inspiring for mine. Nice to see a average guy's watch once in a while. As a (bit past) middle aged guy, I once saw when Timex owned the watch world, with Bulova a close second. I had the same Timex on my wrist for 7 years straight and it never so much as needed a battery until the end of the 7th year. Now it has a new battery and crystal for under 10 bucks and it should be good for another 7. Although since getting into the watch hobby, it hardly gets any wrist time. I am glad to see Timex thinking out of the box and the resurgence in interest in the iconic brand.

Great to see a Timex in your channel! I've been looking at some of their watches for some time. I really like the classic designs they have and this watch in particular looks awesome... sadly the movement doesn't inspire. I grew up with a Timex of one sort or another on my wrist. I still vividly remember the Timex commercials on American Sportsman with Curt Gowdy. Where they strapped a Timex watch to an outboard motor propeller, dropped the boat in the water and ran it up to speed, and then showed the watch still working afterwards. About 12 feet behind where I sit this moment, slightly to my right, sits an original Waterbury Clock that was new sometime in the 1870's (I think, I looked it up once and have it documented but can't be bothered for purposes of a KZbin comment) which originally belonged to my Great Grandmother. The only service it's ever had that I'm aware of is a good cleaning and that was decades ago. It's still ticking away marking the seconds and hours of the lifetimes in my family and it keeps time to about a minute a week. Not bad for a 150 year old clock. So I'm well familiar with the Timex brand. That said, I love the look of the watch TGV is reviewing here but the value falls short for my standards. The quartz movement I could maybe live with but the acrylic crystal on a watch that price is a deal killer. When I can get an Orient automatic diver for very nearly the same price Timex is over pricing that watch. It's a step up from the Explorer line but it's not THAT much of a step up that it takes it into the Orient price range.

I am really a fan of that bezel, the ability to use it as both a timer, and a dual timezone is pretty awesome. The navi harbor seems more interesting than the navi ocean, just for that hour hand. I would love to see more watches like this from timex. If I could get this with day and date, it would be a perfect daily tool watch. I still think their IQ flyback chrono is amazing. The 3-gmt needs some color options and to be a bit smaller ( 47mm seems big ), and the world time seems interesting.

Definitely not a screw down back, you can see the tab at 1:30. Good looks, wearable. I like my timexes. Have an Expedition and an older rolex look alike (gold face, bezel, day/date). Have owned it since new in the 80's. Sat idle for 10 years, new battery, running like charm! Just acquired an Eterna-matic 2000 Centenaire. Was given to my father-in-law for 25 year service on March 14, 1974. Was in storage for many years, took it out, light winding, running great. Runs fast when resting, runs right on when wearing. Probably should service but if it ain't broke...? Those luxury watches are pretty and nice to look at but I can't rationlize that much money for jewellery. Bought a Delbana for that and think that was a lot of money. Anyway, refreshing to see a review of some more plebian brands. Watches are first and foremost tools and craftmanship is always appreciated.

Timex often has the parts sourcing on the box. If the movement is from the Philippines, then it's an in-house Timex movement. I think that is only on Indiglo models now, though. I changed the battery on an Expedition for a friend of mine a month or so ago. It hit every index marker on the dial with the seconds hand, which seriously impressed me, and it used the 2016 battery. I think that if it says Japan movement, then it's a Miyota or Seiko.

Great channel! I am learning a lot. Based on this review I ordered one from Timex. It arrived today and looks great. Unfortunately, it’s defective. The crown came stuck in the “out” position so I can move the hands but it won’t push back in, so it tells correct time only twice a day. I called Timex but they were closed for the weekend. I suppose they will make it right eventually. But it should never have been shipped as it was. Edited to add: Apparently there is a very tiny plastic tab that needs to be removed with a needle which was not mentioned in the literature. Had to get info from a discussion forum. White plastic against stainless background. Needed a magnifying glass and a sewing needle to get it off. Now the watch works fine and I do really like it. My watch came with olive green strap which suits it better than the brown. I did order a NATO strap for it

Great vid as usual. the best thing about that watch is the patina look on the case. Nice to see that there is no snobery regarding a quartz watch. I love my mechanical watches but you just can't beat a quartz for accuracy, toughness, shock proofness (not really a word) and price point. The only downside to quartz watches is that they don't have that smooth running seconds hand. However, have you seen the new bulova ultra high frequency watches. The smooth run of the seconds hand is as good as a grand seiko spring drive and you can find some of these bulova watches as cheap as $140 on-line.

Great review. As your vid opened up I went "wow" - this watch has a great look even if not a "prestige" brand. I especially love the large face and thin bezel - that seems to be counter-fashion but ultimately very functional

Yeah I agree. It's safe to go back to mechanical movements Timex! I'd buy one. Great review. I really like your reviews of the affordable watches under $500.00 for poor shleps like me! haha

I really do love the design on this one. Those hands truly set it off as a remarkably handsome yet rugged looking piece. If this were an automatic I'd probably have to own one!

So I decided to look around to see if I could find out what movement you've got in it....Timex manufacturers their own quartz movements. Most of them (outside of Intelligent Quartz) are uniformly standard. Like their old mechanical movements, Timex quartz movements just get the job done. You've probably got the M902 inside of yours (The M902 is one of the few movements they make that doesn't have indiglo. If your watch takes the CR2016, I'm betting this is the movement you have. If it takes the 1216, the movement is probably the M954. Really no difference between any of them. I've found that my Timex watches with a CR2016 battery tend to last 4-5 years with moderate use of indiglo. So, i'm betting you'll get close to 7-8 years without the indiglo function. Hope this info helps. You could always take the case back off and try and find a marking inside.).

Thanks for the information on the M902 movement. I bought a Timex Andros (the same basic watch as the Navi Harbor) and a Seiko SNZH55 several years ago after reading a comparison of the two watches that extolled the virtues of the Seiko. I expected the Seiko to last indefinitely and the Timex to bite the dust within the year. Just the opposite happened. The Seiko fell out of adjustment and would have cost more than the price of the watch to service. The Andros still ticks along perfectly, and I wear it a couple of times every week. This experience, plus my experience with another Timex, has made me a believer in Timex's design and engineering philosophy. Timex watches don't use all-steel movements, nor do they always use stainless steel cases, nor do they give the appearance of the kind of painstaking craftsmanship we always hope to see in a watch. They are, however, engineered with much thought to extracting maximum performance and reliability from minimum resources. Plus, someone at Timex has great taste regarding how a watch should actually look to and interact with its user. To expand your characterization, Joseph Jordan, this series of Timex gets the job done. The few negatives I see with the Navi Harbor - lack of a finely finished surfaces, no all-steel jeweled quartz movement, made in the Philippines and China, for instance - are the kinds of negatives solved by buying a more expensive watch. I think this combination of factors makes the Timex Navi Harbor an outstanding watch. I enjoy my Andros very much, and I recently purchased a Navi Harbor to double my gusto!

I only own Timex watches. I love them. Found this Navi for $45 brand new from a collector and I threw on a brown leather strap to resemble my dads old Swiss army watch I loved when he would wear.

I never really thought about Timex or liked their products until you did the Marlin video and I bought my own '65 Marlin. Later I picked up a Timex Aluminum MK1 for it's Vietnam field vibe. I was surprised that all the markers and hands have lume as well as the Indiglo. I really wanted this model, it's such a cool vintage style and I like the looped hour hand.

Love Timex watches, ive had a Expedition with brown leather strap for around 9 years and its never gone wrong, and the leather strap looks like new still! quite unbelievable really, i mean i dont wear it to work only weekends or days off, but still 9 years is a long time. They also look more expensive than they actually are.
