I love how you present the GS Snowflake. The enthusiasm, the excitement. Just like a giddy schoolboy. I’d be just as excited if I have a Snowflake in my wrist. It’s my dream watch

The Snowflake and the 60th Anniversary are truly marvels of engineering that are beautiful and accurate. Amazing achievements.

It was my first GS. Super accurate, gains 1 second a week. Light and comfortable to wear. Still gets more than its share of wrist time.

Mesmerizing is indeed the right word for this watch. Time seems disconnected when holding this watch, watching that blue second hand flow so smoothly over the new fallen snow of the dial. Truly awesome watch.

I believe the watch in this video is an older model (notice it says "Seiko", not "Grand Seiko" above the center of the dial.) On Grand Seiko's website, you are correct, the snowflake is now referred to as SBGA 211. The other " 4 seasons" offerings from GS as well as the Hi-Beat movements are also really beautiful and very precise. Merry Christmas DM

Great to see you are at last carrying Grand Seiko & can now talk about them & Seiko in your videos. Now all you need to do is to re make your video on quartz watches to include them!

To clarify, you're carrying old models as well as new? The SBGA011 has, of course, been superseded by the SBGA211 which finally removes the SEIKO moniker altogether. The 211 is one of my favourites in my collection. Grand Seiko - superlative and pretty-well unbeatable in its and orders of magnitude higher price ranges.

Personally ,I mostly lean towards watches without batteries for the higher end . I could buy any watch i care to, but a requirement of mine is first and foremost , a watch must be accurate . for me that's no more than a minute a month . less is much preferred. that being said , springdrive is unmatched and my present and future collection reflects that :) I'm glad crown and caliber offers a selection of these . why buy new when gently used will do !

Wanted to love this watch. Really a beautifully finished piece. I found it to be so light that it “felt” cheap, however. I think it would have been perfect in SS although I understand why they chose titanium.

GS is still a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko so I don’t think it is fair to say that they are not at all related. Think of them as the Audi or Porsche to Seiko’s VW.

I absolutely LOVE GS. I own 3... however I’m always amused when people say SD is not a “quartz” movement. It totally is! The “time keeping” element in it is quartz! What it isn’t is a BATTERY powered watch; power is completely mechanical. I think we’ve grown to classify watches as either “mechanical” or “quartz” which is an oversimplification.
@J69Nice
@J69Nice 3 жыл бұрын
I agree although I think your statement on Spring Drive being a quartz movement is another oversimplification. Whatever people want to call it, it’s a revolutionary concept that the Swiss could only dream of. A beautiful watch!
@kelechinobi3085
@kelechinobi3085 3 жыл бұрын
@@J69Nice Being a quartz movement (which it is) doesn’t make it any less revolutionary. It’s far more complicated and mechanically advanced than any other so called mechanical movement. It’s still quartz, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Well people define a watch by how it's powered. Spring drive is powered by a mechanical movement, quartz crystal only regulates the brake. This watch is a purely mechanical watch. All the confusion in created because swiss watchmakers are not able to digest the fact that this is a way superior movement than theirs.

Why is Grand Seiko using a logo with a medieval european typeface that immediately takes you to a time when people were burned alive for saying the earth was not the center of the universe? They're a great XX century japanese company, that wants to project its highest levels of technology and innovation, such as the spring drive. They've achieved undisputed leves of accuracy while displaying the highest quality finish ever, even under a macro lens! And yet they're brand image is portrayed by a horrible logo that has nothing to do with their culture or what they stand for as a brand in the XXI century! Just an insane and ghastly marketing mistake. Please let them know that.
