Exciteable Edgar (2019 ad) and Give a Little Love (2020 ad) are my favourite John Lewis Christmas ads. The ones after including this one, have been a bit meh. I did, however, enjoy the groto in last year's store, it was interactive with a lot of audio inside.

My favourite is one of the earlier ones with the little boy who can't contain his excitement for Christmas day, but turns out in the end he was more excited about giving his parents a gift than receiving one. 😢

It's almost as if they are embarrassed to promote a traditional Christmas. Here we have an advert that is using the family wanting to have a traditional tree as a form of oppression against the young lad who wants his 'different' tree... another in a long line of boring adverts that are forcing down our throats that being different is great and acceptable. The thing they don't understand is that we get it, we all get it. Being different and tolerant is what makes us great. But please can someone do something traditional without trying so hard to be profound.

Utter garbage. The idea is strong - everyone has their traditions, but this was executed poorly. The Venus fly trap is too leftfield. They should have focussed on the kid doing something unusual with an existing Christmas trope, i.e the tree. The music is awful too. Does't fit. A solid 2/10 from me, and I know what I am talking about.

My wife left me for another man and took the kids with her not long before Christmas in 2008. I spent Christmas alone and miserable, yet her household was probably like this (minus the plant) on Christmas morning. Sometimes nobody gives a toss about wrongly or badly treated Dads. It must always be their own fault.

False Advertising right? Little boy buys the "Perfect Christmas Tree" Watches it grow all year into a huge Vebus fly trap. Obviously not a Christmas tree and too big for the house, not to mention, keeps trying to eat the dog. When the fly trap sees the new tree, it thinks its been replaced only to be presented gifts, showing its still a part of the family.. Very sweet and love the Little Shop of Horrors, vibe

I’m not one to write these messages. But here we go. Christmas is about giving and magic and ‘niceness’ no one’s gunna read this but don’t really care. Even this will make me a Karen but will accept it. This was lame. There’s no giving , no tune. In , doesn’t seem there’s any thought behind the story. Honestly I don’t care as much as it sounds but I’m disappointed, we’ve gone from a bear and a rabbit making a Christmas a tree together or a snowman travelling miles to make a kids Christmas and shack up with a sheela to a Venus fly trap eating presents. Not a fan ,John Lewis not a fan.
