I have your first album as the four of you. Been a fan since 1973. Was 8 years old. Did miss William Lee Golden when he stepped away for that 8 year period. Did not realize it till I looked it up. I was fortunate enough to say I have seen the group perform trice both at Branson at your theater . Was a great time. On our first visit my wife and myself were the youngest couple in the crowd. We were in lower 50 years old age.

RIP Dallas Frazier - I bet he never dreamed this little tune he wrote in 1965 that went nowhere when he recorded it, in which be borrowed the beat from another song he wrote in 1957, would be considered a classic in 2022! It just needed a little jazzing up and some ooom-pappa- mau-mau's from one of the greatest bass singers in rock and country!

So happy to see Joe when he was still feeling pretty good; or hiding it well. The Oaks were always a top act. And Joe was the spark in every performance. As talented as they all are, Duane, William Lee, and Richard were more laid back and low key. Not Joe!! That’s why on every song I’d focus on that tenor. And when it’s just me and them, I automatically fall into singing tenor too. R.I.P. Sweet Joe. The choir in heaven sounds better with that perfect tenor, I’ll miss you always. 💔😢

Listening to them for 40 years and love them a whole lot...But lets face it, they need to hang it up. Richard sounds tired and honestly he sounds very bad. 4 tired singers trying to hang on. The Statlers Brothers knew when to quit.....time the oaks do the same!

Ricky Skaggs is obviously a fine musical talent but I sure wish he'd stick to what he KNOWS instead of proselytizing his glib opinions and untested religious assumptions. The human mind can be convinced almost anything is TRUE when conditions are right (like constant repetition and reinforcement by peers and family).

“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ---Sci-fi author Arthur C Clarke.
@rae0521 Жыл бұрын
@@kaohsiung99 Clarke was almost right. I would have chosen "perplexing" rather than "terrifying." When "terrified" most of us suffer what I'd call a cramp in the brain... we STOP thinking and start rampaging around in all directions. When "perplexed" I think people can still THINK, at least those who haven't already suffered brain damage from being indoctrinated with an unproved fairy tale. We "thinkers" are able to rationally consider the puzzling circumstances and ponder the mysteries of life.
@kaohsiung99 Жыл бұрын
@@rae0521 Science will never solve those mysteries for two reasons. Humans did not create the Earth. Humans did create the Scientific method (based on our limited understanding). You do realize that the Old Testament is the history book of the Jewish people, right? Quite a few intelligent scientists have a Jewish ancestry, as I understand it.
@rae0521 Жыл бұрын
@@kaohsiung99 It is a glib and untested assumption that "science will never solve...". It is true that "humans did not create the Earth." What that statement has to do with the first escapes me. I suppose I could agree that the Old Testament is in the ballpark of a "history book of the Jewish people. When was the last time YOU read a history book of any kind that was ACCURATE? They are ALL biased and told from various points of view. I can ASSURE YOU that a history written by an Arab would "record" a completely different tale than would one written by a Jew. What a few scientists being Jewish has to do with our discussion is also a mystery to me.
