It's the closest thing to dulce de leche. Simmer an unopened can of condensed milk for at least 40 minutes, adding water to top up, and you get a fabulous caramel dressing. ( Don't open the can until it has cooled!)

@@flowerchild777 ¾of the can of condensed milk, works best with a regular size bag of chocolate chips.(about 10 ounces) Don't add vanilla to the chocolate it will make it crumble, add it the the condensed milk and then warm it up to about 39° c . Warm or melt the chocolate to the same temperature (if warming in microwave do it slowly, stir every 10 seconds. Then add milk to chocolate little by little. My one minute version of this recipe is to blend all ingredients (chopped, in the case of the peanuts) into a creamy frosting for the cookies to be dipped into. My two minute version of this recipe is to spend another minute spreading the frosting on one side of a cookie and sandwiching that frosting to another cookie, repeating until minute is up or ingredients exhausted.

This does look delicious. I think I'll give this a try with one minor change. I had two cans of condensed milk which I put in my crockpot over night to make caramel. (I used one in the new recipe version of Libby's pumpkin pie recipe. 👍) I still have that second can to use up and it might suit this recipe perfectly.
@irritatedkitty7301 Жыл бұрын
Cooking the can in a pan of water leaves glue all over the pan. I hope glue remover works.
@CharlesSmith-io9fp Жыл бұрын
@@irritatedkitty7301 You don't open the cans. They are left on low overnight in the crockpot. The cans don't even bulge. I've heard of people doing it on the stove, cans unopened of course, usually wrapped in aluminum foil just in case. The water covers the cans by about an inch, and it's kept at a low simmer. The only time I've heard of accidents is because the temperature got too high and somebody forget to check them. When they do let go you usually have a lot more than the pan to worry about and clean. The color and intensity of the flavor depend on how long it's left in the water.
@irritatedkitty7301 Жыл бұрын
@CharlesSmith-io9fp TY, however, the glue holding the label came off and the glue stuck to the pan. Maybe the aluminum foil would prevent that. Yes, lol, big mess if the can overcooked and the water evaporated. Yikes.

Same thing I was thinking. But English might not be her native tongue. I don't know about everyone else, but as someone who lives in the US, we are always saying something will take just a minute when we know it's not true. It's a figure of speech and we expect people to realize that it's only a figure of speech. It's not meant to be taken literally. If it's true that English is not her native language, she's simply trying to convey the same idea, but doesn't quite know how to word it.
