Read this: The 1.8L and 2.0L Audi A4s from 2005-2008 actually have a timing belt. The 3.2L, 2.7L and the 3.0L V6s engines have a timing chain. The B8, however, all having timing chains besides the 2.0L TDI I4. Sorry for the confusion everyone!! The stretched chain was still an issue throughout the two models.

My 2007 A4, just hit 199,000mi today. I purchased the car at 180,000 mi with a ton of codes, most due to cam follower. Also needed cam chain tensioner. Did T-Belt too and PCV delete. Car works great I daily it and drive at least 50Mi each day. Just as an FYI, I purchased mine for 500$ USD. A killer deal for a running driving car with a few cam follower codes (Mine was the 0087 one)

Bought a 2005.5 about 6 years ago. Normal maintenance items have been done. Had a cam chain tensioner fail and did the cam follower at the same time. Bought at 125k now has 205k. Recently picked up a 2008 Audi A4 s-line with 175k. For $1000. Blown cam follower, wrecked the fuel pump. Actually drove home just no power haha. Found most of the pieces and then a magnetic drain plug caught a few more. Car is still doing well after 10k miles.

To add to the 1.8T low oil pressure: if the car was on longlife servicing (10k oil changes) dont buy it and walk away. 1.8Ts are litteral oil cookers. If the oil is not changed every 5k miles, sludge builds up over time and doesnt just clog the pick up, it also blocks up oil galleries increasing wear on bearings and eventually causing a failure and complete pressure loss. If you decide to buy a 1.8T that was on long life, make sure you clean the engine out with flush as well as drop the pan and check the pick up. They are great engines and I love mine, has been trouble free for a long while now, but if you arent careful they can destroy themselves pretty easily.
