These cars are very reliable. IDC what Anyone says. Driving them the way they are intended is part of maintenance, so therefor my favorite saying by me: A redline a day keeps the technician away. I redline my car daily and it still runs flawlessly.

How many miles do you have on it?
@abrahamg33543 жыл бұрын
@@neverhomepnw about 74k miles. Stock bearings and throttle actuators. However, I replaced battery cause car would shut off while driving. Car still does it, so it has to be the alternator. Current problems: gas door lid won't open when pushed to open. Left headlight beam not working due to condensation, bmw of Murrieta failed to fix the problem. Tpms malfunction. Light goes off every now and then. My conventional seat buttons work forward, backwards, raise, lower, bottom tilt, back rest tilt, and side bolster width. It's my lumbar, I think it's called, that doesn't work. Brake fluid maintenance needed soon. Keep in mind this car is 8 years old now. It's about time little things start to go out - as expected. Engine, suspension, and DCTransmission is still fucking solid. If you're thinking of buying one, well you're going to only get average Joe left overs. All the good ones were bought between '15-2020. If you do find good ones with the best specs, you're paying top dollar.

Great video, add the cost to one of these used cars (regardless of miles) Fuel Breather Valve, Throttle Body Actuators, RBCs, Valve Cover Gaskets, Oil Separators, Engine Mounts, Underbody Felt and debris shields, Chassis mounts, Transmission mounts, brake sensors, TPMS, ABS Dynamic Stability Pump, Pinion Shaft Seals, the 3 recalls PRA 2013/13476, PRA 2018/16803, and PRA 2018/16813, Seals for DCT equipped cars or Clutch and Flywheel for 6MT, Steering rack boots, FCM module, battery, windshield blades, sway bar bushings which with labor will equate to a hefty $20 to $24k bill. Now, consider that you're probably making monthly payments on these maintenance items and add up all of the time that the car is not being driven by you. These repairs can take upwards of a month of aggravation so you have to ask yourself how much is this lost time worth to you? You have now doubled the cost of your initial investment! If you think that you're going to get away with buying one of these cars that doesn't have the records of these maintenance repairs, then you are living in a bubble. Buy one of these cars only from someone who doesn't brag about doing doughnuts and burnouts and buy from someone who has meticulous records with paperwork showing the dates of the upgrades/repairs. The bottom line is if the seller cannot provide objective evidence that these maintenance items have not been done, it doesn't matter if the car has 5k miles or 120k miles, run away and never put 100% confidence in its CarFax report as these things are not 100% accurate...
@Guuccigreg4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Wow sounds like you have all the other items down and may have had a bad experience with maintenance. Did all of that go bad for you? Across all 3 of mine and 3-4 years of total ownership I haven’t had remotely close to that many things.
@craigg81854 жыл бұрын
@@Guuccigreg No, I do airplane maintenance and when if I don't have the objective evidence that the previous owner has done the listed maintenance items I take initiative and do them regardless. Then the car has the correct paperwork for the next owner so that they have peace of mind of the exact condition of the car regardless of the previous owner's sometimes inflated statements. I mean we all do it at car shows, right? Say things like 625hp but don't follow it up with a dyno sheet or was this horsepower measured at the flywheel or at the rear wheels? LoL

Good video. Rod bearings are a must do repair imo. I got lucky and had rod knock on mine but the crank had no damage. Still a scary experience, but the engine got new mounts and it feels way better, and overall the S65 is an amazing engine. Actuators are expensive, but at least the car only goes into limp mode and theres no critical damage done. For what you get from these cars, they're great bang for the buck. You could go buy a Corvette or Mustang but they don't compare to a BMW
