Brilliant model. Great styling very quiet and comfortable. I have a 2010 with 187000kms. Drives like new. The oil consumption issue was fixed for the 2010 facelift.. ALL cars have issues, you could do a lot worse than a Camry. It is far from a clunker...

The Camry is an awesome car. That’s the exactly why I make these videos, all cars have issues. However, a lot of people go into buying used cars very ill educated, so I’m trying to help inform people so they don’t buy a car with issues already, or if they do, it may be something they can fix themselves.

I've got the 2007 Toyota Camry LE V6 and it is a tank. The V6 is plenty powerful for anything I've ever needed to do and has survived multiple accidents. I am shocked that it hasn't been totaled, but it has maintained the same value since I bought it. I love it enough that I genuinely might replace the transmission when it eventually goes instead of buying a new car. Good car with nearly 190,000 miles that drives like new I have replaced normal things like the power steering pump, water pump, one axle, and the alternator but nothing major. It is the best out of all the cars I have owned

The holes in the pistons behind the oil control ring's get plugged up'. I use valveoline full synthetic 0w-20 . It's a very thin oil, helps free up the blockage. Engine still has good compression, oil burns because it stays in combustion chamber . I change it 3k miles. Oil is cheap engine expensive!

L & R control arms replaced 9. spark plugs replaced 10. Alternator replaced twice 130K miles and 148 K miles 11. radiator replaced 149 K miles. Have also had the AC worked on which was expensive. The piston rings on the 2azfe engine wasn’t the problem. The problem was the oil return holes in the piston was getting clogged with carbon build up. I fixed a bunch of these when i worked for an independent shop. I would let the vehicles sit over night with seafoam in the bores which cleaned the return holes from carbon. It worked for me every time. Just remember the change the oil because the oil will be diluted with seafoam and also crank the engine over with the spark plugs out so whatever excess seafoam is in the cylinders will get blown out. I usually put a shop rag over the cylinders so seafoam doesnt go everywhere. Also i find that changing the oil every 3-3.5k and using quality fuel will keep carbon away froM the oil return holes in the pistons.

I assume it's cause the oil return holes aren't big enough? Think maybe drilling a couple extra holes or making the current holes bigger would solve the issue? Even though it wouldn't make since cause you can just buy new pistons, it shouldn't do any harm right? Piston weight would be off, but would it matter in this case?
@toyotafan1234
@toyotafan1234 3 жыл бұрын
@@Odamate yes the oil return holes were too small. If i did a rebuild i would fit the new updated pistons and have the engine rebalanced at a machine shop. A tiny bit of weight or lack of weight will make a big difference with engine harmonics. Maybe someone can weigh the old pistons vs new and see if the weight is different

@@blakedwyer8227 i personally change my oil every 3.5k and i always use synthetic. Oil is cheaper than engine work so I would say change it every 3.5k. I feel like a lot of the mechanical issues are just due to lack of maintenance. I have a 2009 with the 2.4. Change my oil every 3000 miles. Doesn’t burn a drop of oil. I’m at 130 thousand. I will say I believe the automatic transmission is somewhat weak I have had a few other Camrys with some transmission issues. My current model has a 5 speed manual transmission. It’s been a great car for me especially when you compare it to the 2008 Chrysler 300 I had. Tons of issues with that. It’s all in how you take care of cars. Still Toyota is the superior brand of automobile.

The 2az engines does vibrate idk why toyota designed the engine the way it did. The vibration can be caused by worn mounts, dirt build up in the maf and throttle body. Before replacing mounts i would suggest you clean the maf and throttle body(you dont have to take it off). As for the knock on the sunroof, i used a can of heavy duty silicone and sprayed the tracks and sunroof seal( very important) and that fixed my knocking sound from my camry. As for the power steering whine, does it happen all the time? Only when cold? What fluid did you use when you replaced the pump? Did you flush the ps system?

My headlight dimmer switch all of a sudden the piece that you switch to turn the lights on easily pulls out and is loose when turning the lights on and off. I watched a KZbin video where some guy from Colorado went to some sort of auto pull a part place and got one from another car of 1 year younger model and just unscrewed 2 or 3 screws then used a flathead screwdriver to prop the casing off and then replace the headlight dimmer switch and then it worked like new. I have a 2011 Camry that I've put 237,412 miles on. The only problem it has is a small power steering hose leak at the clamp. I saw your video and thought you were full of it. My dash is as perfect as it was when it left the manufacturing plant, no wetness, stickiness, cracks or any signs of deterioration, not even signs of normal wear and tare. The only time my hood comes up is to change the oil and I have a 4 cylinder with nearly a quarter of a million miles on it that is parked outside in my driveway everyday, not a garage. The only thing that I can agree with you on is the power steering hose, which is a $10 fix. Your video is extremely misleading. This review is absolutely ridiculous! I'm a proud owner of a 2011 Toyota Camry XLE V6 engine. Mileage is 106,000 miles. I have had 2 door lock actuators need to be replaced and that is it in 11 years. To have those go bad is very unusual for a Toyota Camry to have. I do ALL the required maintenance that is in the owner's manual. Regular scheduled oil changes at 5,000 miles when it was newer and now at 3,000 miles. At the appropriate mileage I have DRAINED not flushed the transmission fluid twice now, changed the coolant fluid, and I have had no other issues. Toyota Camry's are a cheap car when it comes to overall ownership of the vehicle and if you do what they recommend you will have very little issues. I would LOVE to buy American cars however they make shit vehicles in RUST colors only! If looking for a real honest car reviews go to Scotty Kilmer who is a car mechanic!

Bad video with only partial info. Its the 07-09 models that had oil issues and it didn't happen to all of them. I had a 2011 Camry that I passed on to my son; it now has 260K miles with no issues. None. Best care ever.

You do realize all cars have issues, right? If there are reports after reports of certain issues, doesn’t that classify as a common issue within a typical model? I’ll answer that for you: Yes. Toyota is a fantastic car, but they aren’t perfect.
