Bought the LR 3 2024 in March. My wife got the RWD 3 2024. We are in Canada. In short, I am not an acceleration guy. The LR AWD 3 is very fast. But I don’t use it. Well maybe sometimes :). I drive her car all the time with her for groceries and some roadtrips. Outside of the acceleration it’s the same. Oh and I am also a musician and enjoy a fantastic sound system. Of course I have more speakers. 2 subs etc. But listening to both the RWD is more than enough. So in short they made an incredible base model car. They are both shockingly incredible.

Appreciate this comment! I couldn't decide between RWD and AWD, but when RWD LR got announced here I ordered that. Pick up is next week, but started having doubts whether I should spend the extra money to get AWD for 1s nicer door lining, better speakers and faster acceleration 0.7s-1.2s depending on acceleration boost

I went with the SR RWD Highland on PCP. I couldn't justify the additional £10k for the LR 4WD based on my needs. I've had it a few months now and it's been faultless. Great as a daily and on long journeys - my daughter loves the screen in the back.

@@richib74 It's more than quick enough. 5.8 seconds to 60mph in standard mode, but feels even quicker 30-70. Arrange a test drive and see for yourself.
@junaidx5 күн бұрын
@richib74 performance is gorgeous! I know in the US good deals can be had for it , but not so much in the UK. Price difference is £10k between performance and AWD. However the main issue I have with is the significant difference in range. (EPA range RWD LR = 365 / AWD = 340 / P = 300) Personally I'd just go for the AWD and purchase the acceleration boost that brings the 0-60 down from 4.2s to 3.7 if you want a super fast car. I don't think you'll ever need more than that.
@junaidx5 күн бұрын
@DanJHayes if you're leasing it, I think the best buy is indeed the standard RWD. But if you plan on buying the car I'd say the RWD LR is a better buy. The EPA range is 270 and 365 respectively. Even if you take LFP vs NMC battery into account it gives you more range. (Also you're not supposed to charge LFP to 100% daily either, it's just once a week to calibrate the battery and keep it in check) Secondly you get faster acceleration (4.9 vs 5.8) and faster max charging (250 vs 175)

Great comparison. Even the standard range is adequate for the occasional road trip... (and perfect for around town). I get into a cadence of two hours driving and 15-20 minute stops for charging and leg stretching, etc. on road trips. This has slowed down my trips a bit, but has also de-stressed them a ton. All Teslas are too fast... but nice to have that instant response when needed for on-ramps and passing, etc.

If you can't afford a new Model 3 used Model 3s are now very affordable with many for sale under £20k here in the UK and the reliability should be a lot better than an ICE vehicle due to very few moving parts (around 20) versus around 2000 in an ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicle. Plus with an EV your brakes last much longer due to one pedal driving from regen braking.
@JoPro062 ай бұрын
Apparently, rusted brakes are now a common occurrence with new cars as they have eliminated the need for manual braking, which means that the brake pads will gain more rust as the decreased use won’t tear of the forming rust

LFP for the win! I’m biased because I’m using and abusing that battery….and 80% of long range v 100% of LFP isn’t that far apart for everyday….and as an Old Duffer I have to stop quite often anyway….and I have my PCP down at exactly £400pm because it’s £10k cheaper, yet has nearly all the same benefits. My “old” one still gives 260 or more (started at 272) after 14 months, 30,000 miles…that’s (IMHO) pretty OK for first year (c4%), real world, living with it long term…

@jjjxoxoxo2 ай бұрын
@TeslaJigsaw The weight required for moderate range is the crux of EVs.
@jamespaul25872 ай бұрын
Not higher quality, just different chemistry. LFP has slightly lower fire risk, and it can be fully charged daily without degradation, while other chemistries should be charged to 80% or 90% max regularly and only 100% charged for long trips.
@jjjxoxoxo2 ай бұрын
@jamespaul2587 it's a lie that lfp can be charged 100% without degradation. It is actually worse because lfp requires a weekly 100% charge to reset the battery state of charge, and this process causes the worst degradation on the battery. NMC batteries are the only battery that can be used for high power output and have less degradation when charged daily from 60 to 80%. The nmc 4680 dry cell from Tesla will be the best battery overall for EVs for 2025.

Sometimes it's done just so that it creates order. You park your car and align it with the neighboring one. Some people do that instinctively. Have you ever seen a parking spot (without lanes) where people park randomly? Everyone is oriented at a different direction, not enough space to maneuver around them and the area would fit much less cars.

There is no way to tell anyone the "real" range of an EV, as it highly depends on the personal situation and driving behaviour. The only thing that is important is context. How is a certain range achieved. That said, I think WLTP sucks and is of very little interest to most consumers.
