IRCC conducted 4 consecutive Express Entry draws this week so far: 21 Dec - Agriculature EE Draw - 400 people invited with CRS cutoff at 386. 20 Dec - Transport EE Draw - 670 people invited with CRS cutoff at 435. 19 Dec - Trade EE Draw - 1000 people invited with CRS cutoff at 425. 18 Dec - General EE Draw - 1325 people invited with CRS cutoff at 542. Moral of the story is to study one of 82 (35 health, 24 STEM, 10 trade, 10 transport, 3 agriculture/agri-food) prioritized occupations, qualified for category-based Express Entry draws with lower CRS cutoffs. You do not want to be in general Express Entry draws with very high CRS cutoffs: 511, 505, 517, 496, 531, 504, 500, 561, and 542. It is very difficult to get over 500 without the help of PNP, LMIA, or French.

Make sure you have enough money for food, rent and transportation--and tuition. According to the Bank of Canada, we might go into a recession next year, which means there will be fewer jobs as businesses will close or cut staff. Rent could be from 1000 to 1500 a month, food about 400-500 a month, transportation about 150 a month. You'll also need money for incidentals such as drugstore medication, personal grooming (soap, toilet paper), cleaning products for the house, so add another 200 a month. Plus you will need to put aside 100 in savings for dental care (cleaning, fillings). So 1800-2000 a month is what you'll need for the number of years you are going to study.

If your studies lead to a prioritized occupation, then come to Canada. Otherwise, you will need PNP for PR. Review the 82 prioritized occupations in "Express Entry rounds of invitations: Category-based selection." PNP is different in each province so choose your province of study carefully based on easier PNP for your occupation.

Some employers are not accepting job applicants from colleges. Come to study only if you are accepted to a top university such as U of T, Queens, Waterloo, McMaster. Otherwise, it is a waste of money, and you're better off studying in your country or starting a business.

In 2023, IRCC announced 35 prioritized health occupations for easier PR, qualified for health category Express Entry draws. Some of the occupations only require 2-yr college diplomas. You should check out the 35 occupations, "Express Entry rounds of invitations: Category-based selection".

By Fall 2024, Canada will roll out trusted schools list. Some un-trusted schools will get punished. Some will get delisted from DLI. Some will experience student visa caps. Also, Canada plans to make major changes on PGWP based on market conditions and immigration targets. IRCC will introduce target pilot programs to help underrepresented international students (i.e. non-Indian students) to succeed in Canada.

Please wake up from reality and about Canadian Dreams, think before coming to Canada: There will be approximately 110,000 express entry and 110,000 provincial nominees allowed PR per year for the next 3 years or so by the Canadian government. There will be about 900,000 international students graduating per year in that time and most will get post graduate work permit and try for PR. So lets say 800,000 international students trying for 220,000 PR spots available each year. So 3 out of 4 international graduates WILL NOT be able to get PR. It is what it is.

Make sure that you divulge every visa rejection, including Express Entry filing rejections, in your PR application in the future. Some people got their PR application rejected due to omission.

In your SOP, you need to show ties (family, business, leisure, etc.) in India. You should show no desire of staying in Canada after your study. Do not study something drastically different from your current studies. Some progression in your studies (not regression). Pass your language test: for SDS, IELTS Academic 6 overall; PTE Academic 60 overall. Sufficient proof of fund: 20635 gic (1 person per year) + tuition + travel + misc. Double it if it is 2 year program.
