The kit that I can recommend for you is the Master Grade RGM Jesta. It is a solid kit for new builders. There is also Jesta Cannon which is a premium bandai.

Gundam 0079 defined the Real Robot subgenre by creating the Real Robot subgenre as all mecha properties before Gundam are Super Robots. The difference between Super Robot and Real Robot is that Super Robot mechs can take on armies on their own or with little help from Support mechs and usually face off against giant monsters or aliens or other fictional beings while Real Robots are just giant humanoid weapons.

Ah thank you! My next step is to start watching some of these shows now. Do you suggest I start with 0079? Or go all the way to the beginning?

Great video! Great advice too. Welcome to the hobby! I'll add that Bandai has new Entry Grade kits as well that span the lower price ranges from about 6 to 16 USD, available suits being the RX-78-2 (the original gundam), Strike Gundam, and Nu Gundam (stylized as "v Gundam"). These new Entry Grade kits are fantastic for people new to the hobby, and can be assembled without any nippers at all! They're a great way to dip your toes in the water with Gunpla, without committing to a tool kit to decide if the hobby is right for you. There are many places to buy Bandai kits in the US. Always check for your local hobby shops first! But if you'd rather avoid leaving the house or you live too far from your nearest supplier, there are plenty of sites that specialize in the hobby and ship rather affordable. My go-tos stateside, in no particular order, are Newtype HQ, Gundam Planet, USA Gundam Store, Lunar Toystore, and Mecha Warehouse. All of these places I've ordered from and are reliable when it comes to their in-stock items. Happy building everyone!

THANK YOU! And awesome pointers. I'm looking forward to diving into my next kit. Just not sure which one it'll be yet. A friend of mine mentioned that Hobby Lobby near us (we're in Jersey) has them sometimes. And there's also a Gundam Planet store in Hackensack, New Jersey that I need to check out. Thanks for watching and thanks again for the pointers!

@@MADEbyAP The Gundam Planet you mentioned is the very same that I did! Hobby Lobby tends to have a small but uniform selection of Gunpla, and from what I've seen in some Gunpla groups, most Hobby Lobbies around the country carry sort of the same range of kits, usually High Grades. I highly recommend a trip to Gundam Planet, if you can make the trip. Their online stock is usually very solid and up-to-date, with enough copies per kit to be a major player in the very competitive US market. You'll have access to newer Bandai and other releases than you will at Hobby Lobby, plus a much larger dedicated selection. They even carry tools, paints, and Gundam Markers!

I'm so sorry that your first experience of building Gunpla had to be Master Grade (MG) Dark Hound. Of all the Gundam kits that you can build as your first time, you actually started with one of the worst-rated kits out there 😅. Let me tell you something, not all Gundam kits are fragile. At least nowhere near as fragile as MG Dark Hound. If you like Dark Hound & want a good & solid Dark Hound kit, I suggest you to get the High Grade (HG) Dark Hound. Even though it's smaller than the MG counterpart, the HG is very solid & enjoyable to play with & pose around. Still, if you just want a cool black-&-red Gundam on MG size, I suggest you to get *MG Blitz Gundam* coz it also looks cool, big & solid.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll take a look at the MG Blitz! I think I just immediately gravitated to Dark Hound because of the name and color scheme. I didn't even look at the reviews (SMH). Thanks for the reco! I'm joining the backlog club of Gunpla builders now lol.
