Thank you for Another great video! Going to try this for sure. I priced the last batch of 10 tees with profit pricing for running a sale. They sat in my shop at that higher pre sale price for a week until I was ready to list a few more and run a sale on all. I was doing it every 24 hours and gave it a 2 week break, low and behold come the weekend I sold 3 shirts bella canvas not comfort colors all at total pre-sale price of 28.00. Now thats not at your level by a stretch, yet with only 3 shirts but it happened again this week, so food for thought that your target audience is a factor in how much you can charge.

6:41 - They BOTH show up at loss leader price? Why would the profit price listing show that way?
@shawnalynn2083
@shawnalynn2083 Жыл бұрын
Hey there Miley! Yes! I had them BOTH show up with the loss leader as the same. I didn't want the different loss leader to effect the results. I was really unsure if there would be any difference in results of the listings at all because of this, but I figured I would just run the experiment again and adjust that strategy if needed. There was still such a clear difference in how they did! I believe this is because people were clicking around in the listing more once they clicked into the break even listings. Profit pricing must have had them clicking out faster. I'm thinking this improved the quality score and got the listing pushed out to more people. Hope this helps!

PS - After watching your interview with Cassiy, I "invested in my business" 😉and bought your Q4 resource. I struggle with ADHD which means I'm spinning my wheels much of the time, but I thrive when I have clear goals and this resource gives just that. I just wanted to drop this for anyone out there who is like me and tell you that (IMO) it's a fair price for the value if you're struggling to get/stay organized and need some inspiration, AND if you're serious about succeeding at POD and have the drive & commitment to work at it (because this resource isn't a gimme - it's a blueprint). FTR - I'm starting month 9 and about to hit 300 sales. I don't know if that's good or not but I celebrate every milestone. Come on Q4!!

Just started AB testing on some SEO. I have a few designs that are in one niche, but a bit more general for that niche. I added them to the other niche yesterday, so fingers crossed! I’d love to see a video on how your workflow goes and how you stay organized. I have a list of designs to make for niches, a list of what needs mock-ups, and a list of what needs listed. Hey there! Congrats on getting started on Etsy! It will be a wild ride but so worth it! There is space if you stick with it long enough and branch out to specific niches within the niche while working on it! I do have a resource I put together for the teacher niche you can find in the description if you are looking for more help with it. It took me a few months of consistent listing for different seasonal types of things teachers buy shirts for... started out with a few sales for one of the seasonal niches after crickets with all the others I worked on before it. Then more sales for the next and then it exploded! I am wishing you so much success MJ!

Hi Shawna, very interesting video. Do you think the break even pricing sales were mostly due to the price being lower or do you think it might be because Etsy boosted it in the algorithm? I almost always double up my listings but only change the main image. However, I also had break even for both listings. I was getting some traction with this one listings and decided to boost up to a profit pricing after 8 sales. Now it's barely getting any sales :(. I'm wondering if I raised it too quickly and too much at at time. Maybe I should have raised it a dollar at a time after each sale like you mentioned. I'm pretty bummed about losing momentum and wondering if i should lower the price again... But also, i was thinking that maybe sales have been slow over the past weekend with kids going back to school? The listing I was doing well in is for Halloween... maybe sales for Halloween will pick up again? Also I wanted to mention that this listing has 20+ in the cart. I would have thought it would be getting more sales if that many people have it in their cart. Etsy is a hard code to crack I tell ya! Sorry for the long post. 😬

Wow that's so interesting! I tried break even pricing and got crickets so I went back to profit pricing and saw a difference. My parents were both teachers (retired now) and they are the kind of people who don't like single use items and have passed that on to their kids I really try and make things that someone can keep wearing or at least wear as a bed t-shirt! So I wonder if that is also a factor as I guess teachers on the whole might be more environmentally conscious with having to teach about it?

Hi Shawna, such a great video. Do you calculate a 20% Discount on top of the break even price, assuming you give yourself room to be able to run a 20%, 15% or 10% discount? Or you never run a sale on a break even price item? Also do you adjust the break even price of each size, since the cost for each size shirt (at least on printify) is different by couple of cents. Meaning, do you show a different price for each shirt? Because if you have the same price for each size shirt it’s technically not break even, since every size has a different price. Thanks for all your help! 🌻

It might have something to do with the fact that you know that niche so well - and have been perfecting it. I've had a similar experience with one of the niches that I sell the most. I think sometimes there is an element of people thinking that the more expensive item is a better quality.

I noticed a jump in my views (and a couple orders) when I implemented frees shipping, but currently for break even pricing if I offer free shipping I can only do about a 10% daily sale. Hey there! I was so surprised by this too! When I made the decision to do that I thought I might have to rerun the test as a result... but instead we saw these interesting results! They are staying on the listing and clicking around and this helps the listing gain traction faster in the algorithm... that is my theory!

Good Point! That may be what registers them as an actual visit vs maybe not if they bounce off real fast! Ok, I started trying this test with some of my listings last night and am going to proceed with the ones going forward. If I normally do two different mock-ups, do you think it would hurt to run this test on one version of the mock-up and then on the other? Like 4 listings in total? I would just hate to miss out if someone doesn't resonate with a particular mockup. TIA!@@shawnalynn2083

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️Kind of off topic Shawna but I did some research on some top 15 shops (relatively new and top in sales #), almost all had multiple types of shirts(tees,tanks,v neck, etc) plus sweatshirts, alot with youth sizes also, as well as 15+ colors (all for one listing). Do you offer options like this all in one listing? It seems like a lot but obviously with top shops doing it there must be something to it?? So far i only have one style of t shirts in one listing and sweatshirts and hoodies in a second listing 😆

Thank you in advance!

Hi Shawna! Of your total listings, how many ‘unique’ products do you have? In another words, say you have 1000 listings in your shop. Is it the case of having approx 300 different products/designs and those being duplicated 3-4 times and swapping out the profile pics and/or title, break even pricing, etc? Hope that makes sense. Right now I have about 120 listings. Should does it makes sense to duplicate them all 2-3 times with different variables?

How do I go about dropping all the prices without dropping the loss leader as well? I don’t want to be paying money to people to buy the item! Hey Shawna, great video and information. Are you listing your items with Free Shipping, or having the customer pay the cost of shipping? Having the buyer pay the cost of shipping would show a lower price in search results, but having Free Shipping utilizes the audience that filters results to include Free Shipping only. Thanks heaps!

There are many ways to add value. Add personalization Turn designs into group or couple designs Do designs on a different part of the shirt, back, pocket etc. Put a twist on the design by pairing it with a current trend of holiday etc. Take a top design idea and add it to a new product that market hasn't seen yet There's so many ways to think outside of the box and add value to the market

I have 50 listings so far from 8 designs. My question is this: What should be prioritized now until Q4? Getting my numbers up to 100+, listing improvements (better keywords, pricing, mockups for accessory products...), designing for Christmas, creating variations of current designs...? If it's helpful to see what it looks like so far, my shop name is SunRose Styles. I'm a bit overwhelmed, so any advice you can give would be appreciated!
