I’m not in love with products that force me to stay subject to specific software. For sure this is a great product but I love the idea to stay indipendent and buy right microphones for specific tasks.

Totally get where you’re coming from! The way I see it is this is just another tool in my arsenal! All be it a powerhouse, but I still have other mics. I do find myself using them less because of the ML-1 tho haha

I've had this mic for 4 years, it's great but personally I don't think it's worth the price. Everything else about the mic is worth it like the preamps and plugins, but honestly for that same price you can just get a TLM 102 which is high quality and sounds amazing (I cant stress enough make sure to get a shock mount with the TLM please). The slate is good but it's basically just a hack and a mid budget mic, might as well just get a high quality mid budget mic for the same price (imo)

Hi. I wondering which pre amp you are using in this video. Do you use the slate vms-one preamp? I wondering if using any other descent preamp will work great with the vms system. I'm using a presonus xmax preamp and I'm looking for advise on using the vms system with this preamp. Can you help? Thank you

Any decent clean preamp will work. I use an Audient iD14! PreSonus will work great, so will the Focusrite and Apollo! Then you can use a virtual preamp to add coloration AFTER the mix model! I hope this helps! Merry Christmas!

Hey it doesn't come with the VMS one preamp right? it's 799$ only for the mic. inside the box we only get the mic, shock mount and software voucher right? saw a video on KZbin where he received the hardware preamp of slate digital with the mic as well. Need to confirm we have to buy it separately right and it doesn't come with the ML 1 microphone?

It works with any clean preamp! Audient, Apollo, Focusrite and others work great! You just need the Slate mic!

Nope! I’m running it through an Audient iD14. Any clean preamp will work but if you’re doing side by side tests with the real mics, I would recommend getting the preamp.

Does anyone here have an Noise issue with this mic? because I have on of this and I have to sent them back for guaranty 3 time so I never get to used it because the noise is just insane is like a Warriors fight inside the mic . They blame Florida temperature is to humid or warm really...…but the mic is on a box it came in a FEDEX truck that the temps are quite high or low, my studio is always around 72-75 degrees and actually the mic it self spent a day in my studio It came next day I test it and guess what the same noise ,I test it with new cables ,old cables, 3 different interfaces check even the updates on the firmware all of them are up to date. compare with other mics and they work perfectly. I love Slate plugins actually i have full access to all of them is just theML1 is defective I think they have a bad production issue in what ever country they produce it /. with the internal parts.

It comes free with the mic. There are some expansion packs and you pay a one time fee for them if you want. You do not need the subscription to use this mic.

I feel like for free or almost free I can just EQ the voice and get really close to all those expensive mics. I don't think anyone is going to say wow that sounded like you used a 251! Especially since most listeners don't know what a 251 is. Use your ears and and you can pretty much mimic anything. I feel.
