Save your money next year and get the EA Play Trial.........Secondly i'd like to say them not changing be a pro is exactly why i haven't bought a NHL Game in 2 years and next year will be 3 if nothing is done but the game is boring......as you said the cutscenes are bland the crowd the refs the coaches nothing has been touched environment wise.......when you do play be a pro there's nothing to do no team practice allstar weekend no team usa nothing......you can't do drills with your teammates and it's honestly just unrealistic i mean how would it be possible for someone to be a captain in a year ? like wtf lol but it's honestly nothing to work for as you said your a 73 automatically and by the end of the season your about a 80 or 81 it's like the progression is to fast that's what made previous NHL Games great grinding with your player for 2 years and building him up slowly in the minors and then the NHL it's jus dum to have everything happen so fast because after year 1 there's nothing to play for......like in older NHL's you had to work i remember when i played NHL 14 it took me 3 season's before i became alternate captain of the florida panthers like that's how it should be you shouldn't just wake up and be captain it jus doesn't make sense but anybody who's reading this save your money bro i've skipped 2 years and i'm expecting to skip another 3-4 because EA just does absolutely nothing to fix the game and i think that's the most frustrating part of things because it's like they make BILLIONS off us yearly and i knew they didn't give a dam about the fanbase when they threw a 20 year frost bite engine on NHL Games instead of just making a NEW engine that's sport's specific then i think we'd notice the difference in game play but they don't care and the fanbase is starting not to care either it's a train wreck hopefully in the next few years someone will step up and give competition to them but for now i'll be skipping the next few titles and by the way before people make excuses for EA this isn't a mom and pop company with 4 employee's they have the resources to double and triple the size of the nhl, nfl or any game they want to really get changes in there at anytime but i don't think EA will learn until a class action lawsuit or something comes there way for be a pro because it's honestly just fraud at this point.......see you guys in 28 lol though

The way the cycle works for these games is really sad. They really can't do much from year to year. It's not the devs fault, it's really hard for them to prioritize issues when they have to shift focus to next year so quickly. It's the nature of the corperitization of sports games nowadays. Also you have to consider where this game stands I. The eyes of EA SPORTS. they have Madden, Fifa, UFC, F1 and then NHL. its the lowest preforming every year out of the 5 games they have. If EASPORTS allowed NHL to have more time or at least more help in theor studio it might get better. But even still I have my doubts. I have fun with franchize every year. Especially this year i really like the new version of the mode.

I dont even blame e.a or game companies. Even car companies etc. Everything is more expensive and not made as well. Because people continue to buy it. Its that simple. People are dumb.

In regards to gaming, people arent dumb my friend. Allot of people don't care, it's that simple. It's a video game, and as long as EA has the rights, people will buy. Most people don't get pressed over a video game, it's not import in any way.... because it's a video game. Think about it like this, kids play the game for fun, and (most) adults play when they have time. Then you have people like you who think a mediocre, to bad video game is the be all end all. But for most people it isn't, and for that reason people buy the games.

So in short not good enough, copy paste needs to stop. I’m glad I have held out I have been playing faithfully the last two years. This is the same game, menus, intros to the games are the same woke glow sticks waving around like we are men in a girls bathrooms. Show us some top players and game breaking starters, Hut looks like a disaster, just straight up lazy

Good review sir. I've been on the fence for the past week. 2k was closer and better years ago with a simulation type. To me as you alluded to its more of the same from EA just back and forth game play thats very arcade like. i went with Action PC hockey...... fantastic game play for the PC with good visuals fits more what I'm looking for and $30 cheaper......i dont regret this decision at all.

I'm probably in the minority here , but as I only play Franchise mode ONLY I'm really enjoying it so far , the game has lots more to do from last year. Still game play can be improved along with better commentaries but for me I'm enjoying more from last Year , again I only play Franchise mode . IMO HUT , MUT and greed and the lack of other competition is what ruining these sports games . Bring in 2K and Sony to have a share at these sports game watch see how EA steps up their game .

Pure copy & paste laziness only difference is it says 25 instead of 24. 24 was a copy & paste of 23, 23 was a copy & paste of 22 etc etc.

Absolutely not! Not that I wouldn't recommend getting a PS5 but this is 100% not the game to buy a PS5 for.
