I have a Bengal senior who moved in with me one day and just never left (I tried not feeding him, he responded by bringing rabbits back to my house and eating their heads in my bedroom. Bengals are excellent hunters) He often folows me all the way to the shops, I have a worry that if I get Bengal kittens, they'll follow me INTO the shops and shoplift some cat treats!

I had a tabby who acted just like her. Was a great loss when she passed. I miss her sticking her nose into everything.
@irisatkinson161622 күн бұрын
HaHa possibly although despite having catflaps because of a large garden, she rarely goes out. Do not think she has ever thought about following me though. As mine is an extension to my daughters family and large house, there is a lot of roaming area. However she follows me to the main house and demands I come back '' home'' very loudly. She will also not be too happy when her siblings, both partial Bengals off 3yrs come for a visit from main house. She will want to wrestle with them until they leave. Not aggresively though. All are different but all are like no other cats. I also LOVE the fur which is like silky velvet.

Thank you for this! As a veteran with PTSD you've just saved our family and the potential new addition a TON of stress. I love the look and attitude of Nova, but those antics would have me on high alert 24 / 7.

I am a veteran diagnosed with PTSD, and you will not regret getting a Bengal. I have a female named Sallie, she is a rescue, but the fact is she rescued me. All the stated facts are correct, and we soon “Sallie” proofed the house. I cannot imagine my life without her, she has done wonders for anxiety ( she is so soft to pet). She is vocal , she is brave, smart, and she is very affectionate. She is not afraid of dogs and quite the little hunter. She has been so amazing I can’t see how someone could give her up. She will be with me for the rest of our lives.
@irisatkinson161622 күн бұрын
Dont be put off. Although mine is a lot like this they still sleep about 15 hrs a day like all cats tend to do. VERY lovable and attaches to one person. I am now almost 84yrs old and can cope extremely well with no real problems. If you decide to get one get the lower grade. Not sure where you are but where I live its graded by A1 down ,mine is an A6 so a lot lower, lot less wild but still got the dog like qualities and the very loving nature. I also have trained, when she wants to bite ,with just a raised finger. As I used to gently tap her nose when biting which she did not like, now the raised finger which could be a tap she will stop. Best thing I ever did after years of ''moggies'' will never want any other now despite my age.

Look at my comments above EVERYBODY is ready for Bengal. Im fine with mine at almost 84yrs had mine 10yrs now so was in my 70's then. I had a half bengal previously Mum wasnt Dad was a big beauty full Bengal. But a full one is amazing and if she sadly goes I will def adopt another even at my age. They love their ''slave'' soooo much.

My parents have two bengals, male and female. They are the calmest, most gentle cats they’ve ever had. They are very mellow and only have about an hour of “silly time” each day, but it’s pretty regular cat behaviour: chasing each other, playing with toys, etc. They love my parents dog and everyone gets along. Most of the time they are napping, looking out the windows… pretty common cat stuff…
@irisatkinson161622 күн бұрын
I agree cats which include Bengals tend to sleep 15hrs per day. Also agreed about how very loving they are. Mine clearly adores me, but nobody else, as they are like dogs with just one master, or SLAVE lol . She ignores the rest of the extended household as Im in an annexe. but still likes to just say hello to the 2 part Bengals and the family she also likes an occasional love bite which I have controlled with a ''NO'' and raised finger. Family members she can get more aggresive with, but under control from me and a treat from them lol.

I have 8 year old bengals they are still as you described. They need to be entertained alot! They are still awake for hours sometimes 6 or more at a stretch. Super intelligent and inquisitive. They want to know what I'm eating, what I'm doing, have their favorite youtube videos. They hate it when I load/unload the dishwasher and complain LOUDLY! That being said they are great, faithful companions who will show you how much they love you and will entertain you with their crazy antics everyday!

I got a Bangle not knowing. The blood letting on my arms is every day. Mine, Loki, has his crazy time. A lazar is helpful. He’s 10 months. I damn near had him in the pool. We’re retired so I spend a ton of time with him. Really great video. Thanks.
@irisatkinson161622 күн бұрын
I stopped mine biting by when she went for it I would tap her (not very hard) with my fingers which she never liked. Now seeing a raised finger will stop her straightaway. You MUST try training as being very bright they will know. At 10yrs she will occasionally try, mainly with my granddaughter ( an adult) but if I'm around that raised finger stops her.
@vetten764622 күн бұрын
@ Mine, Loki, went after me this morning. I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck then unwound my arm. He tried 4 more times. Persistent bugger. I ended up throwing a couch blanket over him. That stopped the attack. It hurts. I sure hope he mellows. He’s 11 months old.

I have 2 Bengals, a brother and sister and I’m never attacked. The blood letting is reserved for each other and their play is downright scary. They are the cutest, most curious and athletic cats I’ve ever owned. I love my babies.

I am a single guy living in a small apartmentment and was gifted a Bengal kitten by a friend. Being a cat person, I accepted. I love my Bengal but I cannot deal with her anymore. Everything in the video I just watched is so true except that my Bengal's meow is very quiet, It's more like a quiet squeak. Anyway, The reason I can no longer keep her is her destructive nature. She has broken, torn, knocked over, and chewd up so many thing in my apartment that I just can't deal with it any longer. When I get home every day, I spend 30 minutes just cleaning up the messes she made. One thing not mentioned in the video was that Bengals eat like hungry horses and show affection by biting. I have scars and scabs all over my body and she has drawn blood from me and guests several times. As I'm writing this, I can hear her in the kithchen playing with a plastic bag she pulled out of the trash can. My advice, Bengals are high maintenance and require a lot of attention. If your not ready for that, go to the animal shelter and get yourself a rescue domestic feline. Gotta go, I think Jinx just knocked over the refigerator.

Dont forget Nova is a kitten. They will always be more energetic but very bright, but as they get older like my 10yr girl they do slow down. Also remember that cats which include Bengals sleep around 15hrs per day. So not full on all the time.

This is so like my girl Rani. I know by the way she reacts that she adores me. As I do her. But watch for the love bites. She has converstions with me and full blown arguments. She is possesive with me, my little glue. Also demanding that if I sit down she must be on me, if I do not sit down she will get onto my chair then noisily demand I sit too. The only thing is though she did like water to play with with younger, she hates being splashed now. She is almost 11yrs old but still as energetic as when a kitten. She bosses the 2 siblings of 3yrs who are partial Bengals, the boy being huge and a placid girl and her the smallest, but no fear, she beats them in fights too. I would say if you can afford to spend time with them and home a lot, Im a pensioner so can. GET ONE they are amazing

LOL yelp when they bite. Yes I do that sometimes. But training them to not bite needs to be done when they're a kitten. Even though it might seem fine and funny at that age. I have raised 3 kittens. One of them a bengal pixie mix. They get yelled at and smacked if they play bite. Followed by growing up to know they're not allowed to bite. My bengal pixie is the most terror. She will do more to climb and find stuff. And yes she likes water. I can't leave stuff in my sink. Because she will start drinking water from dirty bowls.

I took in a stray Bengal. Beautiful and sweet, but I don't know what to do with her...she pees anywhere and everywhere. ... The litter box sometimes but other times on the floor or in the tub or shower. I need to re-home her but hate to pass on the problem. Do you know how to stop this?
@Irene_Hwang6 күн бұрын
Some stray cats picked up as adults have this issue. It is best to always allow your cat access to the outdoors or your home backyard. Cats will choose one specific favorite location to relieve themselves, usually in a sandy area or a bush. I also have a few cats in my home, but I don't provide them with litter boxes because they've learned to relieve themselves in the toilet.

Loved the video! I actually watched it twice already because I cannot get over my bengal fantasy:) I have two questions though: the first being about the amount of shedding to expect? Even though I absolutely adore cats I wonder how much Bengal hair will be lying around, clinging to sofas and clothes. As I have long dark hair myself there is already a bit of a "hair problem" around the house haha.. And then, the second thing is how well they adapt to being "babysitted"? My husband and I do enjoy traveling every now and then and would then rely on my parents-in-law to step in and take care of our potential bengal "pair". We thought to get two so they could also have each other to play with when the "parents" need a little break in between. Can they adapt to being in a new environment/with new caretakers temporarily or should you rather plan them into your vacations? The flexibility of both would be great.. Anyway, I really look forward to your feedback! Thank you for taking the time:)

Aside from the biting he's got alot of the characteristics of a Bengal and his structure and his tiger strips reminds me of a Bengal so ive been thinking about one day getting a bengal kitten. As Bengals are my dream kitten, but as a first time cat owner i was like well wait a bit on the bengal. Sometimes i feel like hes 25 to 50% bengal 😅

Where does one get a bengal kitten and how can you be sure your breeder is ethical and legitimate?
@kphfun14 ай бұрын
Do your research online search as there are many breeders everywhere in the states and if legit will have proper feedback, be prepared to spend at the very least 5-600.00 for a papered kitten though.

I heard you say you were allergic to cats. How and what did you do to get over the allergies to be around Nova? I am getting a Bengal in July and I am allergic.
@mejulialee8 ай бұрын
Bengals are better for folks with allergies since they have one coat of fur as opposed to 2. I definitely had more of a reaction within the first month of having her, but only if I came in contact with her saliva by kissing her after she groomed, booping her nose with my lips, or rubbing my eyes after petting her. It's a lot better now - I'll still avoid those things and will get a slight reaction if I forget, but I think my body naturally adjusted. It all really depends on how allergic you are. Good luck!

Our wee Empress is 50% Bengal and is nine years old. If you think she will grow out of the Bengal-maniacs, our experience shows that to be a pipe dream. Fluffles (don’t hate me! My son named her….. my 6’1”, 31 yr old, heavy metal, member of the Navy son. And why? “Because she’s just so fluffly-wuffly!”) regularly chews on my arms and legs. I’m on blood thinners, so I get the daily blood sacrifice! LOL She also has her exercise times with us and then when she gets into ‘the maniacs’ as we call them. They are like the heavy metal version of the zoomies and THAT is what Bengals get. Fluffles has come to the point that, since I drink water from a glass then she should as well. So every night, my hubby gets all three of us a glass with ice water (Gawd help us if there is not at least one ice cube in there), with hers being in a cut-glass old fashioned style glass. A closed door is something that seems to be a personal affront to her. Every night, she waits for us to get into bed before she performs her nightly ablutions and has a last nosh. After that, she will grab something from my winter basket where I keep hats, gloves, ear warmers, etc., and come trotting down the hall with it all the way singing the songs of her people a la Beverley Sills!! This girl can project! 😂 She was a rescue for us, and so some things - like picking her up - seem to trigger previous trauma, so I just don’t. One of my fave things is that she can hear my hubster’s vehicle two streets away and will run to the door to meet him each day; she also accompanies him to the door when he’s leaving so she can get the last kiss before he leaves. While there are some quirks with a Bengal - and you don’t mind looking like you live in brambles (with all the scratches and such) she is just so sweet hearted and snuggly! Shortly after we got her, I became seriously ill and my hubster told me that she barely left my side for a couple of weeks. I don’t remember that time, but ever since then she sleeps with me every night. She likes to curl up on the top of my thighs and I wake up if she has to hit the litter box (or third bathroom, as the hubster calls it 🤣) in the middle of the night.

Actually the do slow down. We have brother and sister siblings who are mainly in the main house and are 2 .1/rds Bengal Reason being GRandad a Bengal sired a female non Bengal, But then sired his Daughter. So her kittens were half Bengal twice, of which we had 2 of them Our Girl is typical Bengal but very laid back, the boy is more the non Bengal. ALSO I have in my extension to the house an F6 full Bengal, who is so like this video. She is 10yrs old and a lot calmer but very very loving and vocal. We actually argue lol. She will have a mad half hour each day the rest is sleeping or cuddling into me. I think the mistake people make is to not get them a playmate. I have found over my long years Middle 80'syrs that two or more cats are actually easier than one cat, because they are not bored. Specially Bengals, they need a friend. We did have a female German Shepherd until a few months ago who sadly died of old age. The girl sibling adored her. So even get on with dogs.

I had a Bengal cat (she died of old age), and I resorted to a squirt-gun (squirt-bottles work, too) to deter her from various unwanted behaviors. The squirt-gun worked perfectly. So even though she liked water, she did NOT like being squirted. I had several squirt-guns placed all over the house for quick deterrence. One day she bit into and ran off with a ghost chilli (I grow them in the garden), and that was the last time she ran off with anything. I grew up with cats, but that Bengal cat was a world-different than every other cat I've had. I trained her to perform several tricks, and she would play fetch. She was the world's greatest cat, and I loved her, and she loved us.
